David Balfour, a chap of seventeen and recently stranded, is coordinated to proceed to live with his rich uncle, the expert of the bequest of Shaws in the marshes of Scotland close to Edinburgh. His uncle, Ebenezer (as close a grumpy person as Dickens' Ebenezer Tightwad), is stunned to unexpectedly have his young relative slide on him and attempts to free himself of David with an organized mishap. Bombing that, he pays the commander of a brig to hijack David and sell him into bondage in Carolina.
