Kicking off our season with a newer film than most of the westerns we’re covering by a long shot, it’s Sam Raimi’s The Quick And The Dead! This one’s a favorite of Noah’s, one that he refers to as “the only good modern western" before he’s reminded that The Hateful Eight exists. This season we’re covering ten different Westerns, we hope you enjoy our selections! This is a movie podcast where...

We’ve heard the feedback, the fans demand more Fresh Viewing! Well saddle up cowpoke, cause here’s a rundown of the ten films we’re covering this season. This season we’re covering ten different Westerns, we hope you enjoy our selections! This is a movie podcast where each season we’ll dive into specific genres, and also into our collected backlog of films we’ve been putting off. Each season we pi...

The final movie of the season, and we’re tackling the titan, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Not gonna beat around the bush, we both liked this one an awful lot and primarily are here to gush about it. Enjoy an episode where we’re both a little tipsy and enthralled by a movie that some could call life changing (for fans of sludgy spy flicks, at least.) This season we’re covering ten different Spy and A...

Our second CIA movie, and it’s even more of a hot button one than the past. Denis Villeneuve brings us to his version of the war on drugs, and it is generally not for the faint of heart. This season we’re covering ten different Spy and Assassin films, we hope you enjoy our selections! This is a movie podcast where each season we dive into specific genres, and also into our collected backlog of fil...

We might not have hit the first movie, but please do enjoy hearing us talk about the second! Kingsman: The Golden Circle is Dan’s pick for this episode, and it’s given us an extended opportunity to talk lightly about parody, and also just what this flavor of spy movie can tend to offer. This season we’re covering ten different Spy and Assassin films, we hope you enjoy our selections! This is a mov...

It’s time to unlock some childhood memories and talk about Robert Rodriguez’s 2001 creation, Spy Kids. Dan realized while watching that he hadn’t seen this as a kid at all, and Noah’s seen it more times than he could realistically count. Listen as they lay out favorite moments of what was, for some, a formative film. This season we’re covering ten different Spy and Assassin films, we hope you enjo...

This week's episode is on The Imitation Game. We’ve got a truly gorgeous looking film that is generally very well acted, but is that enough to push past historical inaccuracies? Noah has a great number of feelings about that. The website Noah referenced in the recording: https://www.historyvshollywood.com/reelfaces/imitation-game This season we’re covering ten different Spy and Assassin films,...

One that Noah had picked primarily as his “bad” pick, it’s time to dive into Brad and Angelina’s couples assassin movie, Mr & Mrs Smith! While we land on it being more of a middling experience than truly bad, there’s a lot to be said about the assigned gender roles that are confusingly prevalent in this one. Do you have any similar movies to recommend that we might like more? This season we’re...

Austin Powers, the international man of mystery himself! Unfortunately he’s a fella who didn’t quite make it all the way to 2026 with the rest of us, but that’s not going to stop us from talking anyway. Stay tuned specifically for Noah talking about the importance of “gatekeeping”, and only attempting to critique things you’ve taken the time to actually consider. This season we’re covering ten dif...

To Noah, the fact that Dan hasn’t seen Mission: Impossible before seems… Well, impossible. Listen to the guys discuss how they feel about the film, and get Dan’s (mostly) unfiltered thoughts on his first outing with Ethan Hunt. This season we’re covering ten different Spy and Assassin films, we hope you enjoy our selections! This is a movie podcast where each season we dive into specific genres, a...

Today we’re watching a film Dan has been excited to revisit for a long time, Ben Affleck’s 2012 political thriller Argo! This dramatized retelling of The Canadian Caper won best picture in the 2013 Oscars ceremony, but is it still worth watching? This season we’re covering ten different Spy and Assassin films, we hope you enjoy our selections! This is a movie podcast where each season we dive into...

Today we’re talking about a movie Noah feels is foundational to a golden era of spy thriller, From Russia With Love! The second film in the sprawling James Bond franchise, this one exists in a small space before the stakes got too big and out of control while maintaining a level of quiet urgency. We hope you enjoy the episode! This season we’re covering ten different Spy and Assassin films, we hop...
