Dead Ends

We've come to the end of the first season and can't help feeling disappointed by the reveals. We discuss the A reveal, what conclusions in fiction we've actually liked, the open plot holes, missed horror opportunities, and the tidy resolution for all the characters. But first, we take a dive down the Dancing with the Stars rabbit hole. Episode 109 content warnings: teen pregnancy, a...

It's penultimate finale week so we have lots of threads bouncing around in our head without any resolution yet. So please enjoy another long episode discussing Chip acting really weird, Henry being suspicious, Imogen's athleticism at 35 weeks pregnant, what "Crazy Joe's" involvement actually was, Sidney deciding to try parenting, debate whether Shawn is a good guy, Mouse&a...

We're back with two fantastic episode. Enjoy this extra long podcast where we discuss the series cancellation, the shows depiction of the horror of being a girl/woman, even more depictions of mothers acting horrible, scratching our heads at Mouse's family storyline, questions over Imogen's choice for her pregnancy, Noa's home situation, Faran scoring huge wins, the positive way...

Of course we'd come around on the series when it had its Halloween episode! We come in excited to discuss Imogen throwing a rager, how sweet all the love interests are (for now...), everybody pairing off, and how the show flipped our views on Karen/Kelly. We also dig into some difficult reveals about Tabby and Mouse, the show incorporating Tabby's film language better, the devastating Ou...

Outside of some big moments, it's a bit of slower week and unfortunately not really hitting our hopes so far. We discuss the rollout of the mystery, our theories on which twin survived, theorize on who the actual targets are, Noa's rote characterization, try to parse out who Mouse actually is, Faran's extremely fair weather attitude and the coalition of moms. Episode 105 content war...

We're back with the start of Original Sin and we have a ton to talk about! We discuss our thoughts on the big changes in tone, how this relates to other PLL series and our preferences for horror. We also run through our favorite characters, the start of the mystery, horrible and pathetic older men, the intricacies of the dance world and movie/tv depictions of Swan Lake. Episode 104 content wa...

We reach the end of the Perfectionists and it's abrupt close to its only season. While we're feeling a bit ambivalent to the show as a whole we still have plenty to discuss including Taylor's batman origin story, new and weird revelations about Mason, Jeremy driving a speed boat (and missing his glasses), the nature of Beacon Guard, and run off some potential theories about the Prof...

We've unfortunately got a lot of complaints this week as the show dilly dallies to its conclusion. We discuss how this show isn't setup to be so short, how it messes up all of its romantic plotlines, the irrationality of continuing to trust Claire, the show trying to pull a gotcha on Ali, Jeremy's hilarious freak out, Dylan's inability to not make bad decisions, Ava's puzz...

The Perfectionists is still finding its footing and unfortunately we're only 4 episodes away from the end. We discuss our confusion around Beacon Guard, Mona's motivations, Ali's involvement, trusting Claire & all of Taylor's actions over these episodes. We also run through the return of hit and runs and fashion shows, Mason turning on a dime, IT references, Booker terroriz...

We get a lot of setup this week as the fake friends slowly find that maybe they could be actual friends? That is until Caitlin is exposed as a huge snitch. We discuss why Ava is the sole victim of the group, Ali's divorced dad vibes, Mona's potentially steamy chess romance (and why we need more of this), Jeremy's sketchy behavior (aka being British), Mason stepping into being the ev...

We're back with the PLL sequel series and it might actually be good?? We're surprised by how much we enjoy the new location,  the new focus on surveillance technology and controlling people and our new cast of characters. We're not quite as enthused with the focus on Alison and Mona's newfound focus on "equations" but if it keeps up the quality we'll be happy. We...

We record a massive episode discussing the series finale but mostly answering questions about the series! We discuss Emily's memories of originally watching the finale, how big of a mess it is, the accent vs. Troian's amazing acting, Wren's absolute nightmare, the relative happy endings and all the big plot holes. We then dive into a list of questions regarding our thoughts on the s...

Well that's the show finished, all the plot threads are wrapped up and everyone has their happily ever after. Wait I'm receiving a note now... We discuss how fast these pen ultimate episodes wrap up everything and our annoyance at where that leaves Mona's and Cece's characters. We also run through the friends finding out about Aria's AD work, Spencer overreacting, Aria hav...

We are so close to the end now! There's plenty to puzzle over as we unpack Emison's continued domesticity, Haleb annoying Spencer, Spencer and Marco's great dynamic, Mona stepping up (and potentially looking very guilty), Aria getting way too into being AD's employee, Fitz saying the quiet part out loud, and that tremendous dance scene. Episode 96 content warnings: addiction, g...

PLL realizes it's approaching the end and suddenly decides to back up a whole dump truck of lore. We discuss Charlotte's father, Lucas somehow also being involved, Peter continuing to be the absolute worst, Nicole not being given a chance to speak, Aria getting in way over her head, Wren suddenly appearing, Ali's pregnancy and Emily crossing a huge line, and Paige heading off and ta...

PLL serves up a whole plate of nothing this week so much that there wasn't enough to do theory corner. We still manage to gather ourselves to discuss teenagers with bad vibes, Emily being a massive narc, Hanna's fashion nightmares, the Hasting's kicking Spencer out of the house, how effective the show is at bringing back old characters & Aria's surprise visitor. Episode 94...

The moment Emily has been waiting for; Noel's head rolls down the stairs like a bowling ball. What a magical moment in a supremely fun and silly episode. We discuss Hanna going Azriel-mode, whether or not Mona was supposed to have been keeping an eye on Noel, Jenna and Noel's trap and overestimating just how much the girls know. Also the Delaurentis/Drake/Hastings family tree gets even w...

This Noel guy seems pretty terrible huh? And Paige and Grunwald are now suddenly back? We discuss the return of old characters, they had vibes from Noel and Paige (though different degrees to be sure), and Hanna going rogue. We also run through our annoyance at the Nicole plot line, Emily not talking to Sabrina, the return of Jason (and Jaria), our suspicions of Marco and whether it’s acceptable t...

These episodes introduce a bunch of new information without any context so our brains are scrambling trying to piece it all together. We discuss Jenna’s closeness to Charlotte, whether Mary can be trusted, the introduction of Jesus Jason, Halebs bad vibes and Hanna’s character change, Toby’s wretched reveal and cackle at the possibility of Nicole’s fate. Episode 91 content warnings: grooming, medi...

Jenna's back! Mona's back! Noel is also back too I guess, but more importantly it's a girlboss conference happening in Rosewood. This is all juxtaposed to some very intense goings on as everyone has to confront their trauma whether it be some heartbreaking scenes of Spaleb, Ali reliving horrifying experiences, or Hanna completely shellshocked. We also run through how bad the girls a...

We've got a couple of slower episodes until we end up with a bang. We discuss the horror of Ali's confinement, try and parse what the hell is up with Rollins, Spaleb's rocky ending (and great emotional scene), our annoyance with the new Hanna, our fondness for Sabrina, Emily steamrolling yet again and going in circles with Ezria. Episode 89 content warnings: torture, grooming, medic...

Season 6 ends on a ridiculous twist that we can’t help but laugh at. We discuss the A’s (or AD now) expensive masks, how they got in and out of Ali’s house without anyone noticing, Halebs stupid stupid plan and their stupid stupid actions, whether the friends should trust Mona, forcing all the characters back into previous relationships and ask who Toby voted for in the election. Episode 88 conten...

We're really only two episodes away from the end of the season? It seems fairly mystery light so far so we'll see what happens. There is still other things to discuss like Fitz definitely not writing a book about Aria, Ashley living in the past, Mike being the least favorite child, and heavy topics around Spoby's past, Mona working for a republican campaign, and why it's right...

It's not an especially exciting week but there's still plenty to discuss like Ella's flop period, the girls' very support new boyfriends, Sara showing up at high school, Ali's apparently secret romance, Caleb turning the tables on "Evil Emoji", Aria finishing Fitz's story and Melissa's suspicious luggage. Episode 85 content warnings: murder, abuse, gasl...
