Back on the living room floor, same ceiling above him, nothing externally changed. But Alex is writing different things in the notebook now. Asking different questions. And for the first time, the not-knowing feels less like a dead end and more like a starting point.

Alex brings the notebook back to breakfast and tells Joshua everything. What he wrote. What shifted. What happened on the anniversary. Joshua's response reframes the whole experience and gives a name to something Alex did without realizing it.
