The Dark Paranormal

Beyond Athens picturesque streets and university buildings lies a darker history, where the boundaries between the living and the dead are said to be unusually thin. From unsettling local legends to disturbing events rooted in reality, Athens is a place where certain stories refuse to stay buried, certain spaces seem reluctant to surrender their secrets, and the past may not be quite as distant as...

Today we hear from Rosie, whose job involves checking empty properties and preparing them for arriving guests, there has never been much reason to question what happens inside a house once the doors are locked and everyone has gone. But what happens when a house appears to have a life of its own? Can an unseen presence genuinely have good intentions? And perhaps most disturbingly, how can you ever...

On this week’s Encounters, Tom takes us to a remote campsite in Northumberland, where what should have been a relaxing weekend with a friend became an experience neither has been able to forget. As the night draws in, an unsettling warning, an unnatural silence, and something that seems to know far more than it should leave us questioning just how safe we really are when we believe we’re alone. An...

Some things are passed down through generations. Memories, traditions, family stories. But what if something far darker could be inherited too? For today’s listener, the unexplained has never been confined to a single house, a fleeting encounter, or a childhood memory. From an early age, certain experiences have left her questioning the relationship between those we’ve lost…and those they’ve left...

Some places hold on to their history. But what happens when moments...

Perhaps we’ll find answers on today’s show. Stay safe, Kevin. Love the paranormal? Us to...

On this week’s episode, Chloe takes us back to a home in North Georgia that left her with a feeling she couldn’t explain. Years later, memories of that time resurfaced—and left her with a question she still can’t answer. Today we question if keeping “sightings” or experiences to yourself is dangerous…in both realms. Stay safe, Kevin. Love the paranormal? Us too! Join what I truly believe is the pl...

During the season break, we've decided that each Friday, when there is no show, you will receive an amalgamation of experiences which have previously been split across episodes. So, we begin today with what was our season 13 Halloween special, The Darkest Chapter. Genuinely, two of the most terrifying episodes we've ever put out, and, and in all honesty, one of the most believable experien...

Because what happens when the location changes, the people change, the years pass — but the feeling remains? This is about doorways, instinct, things glimpsed where nothing should be standing...

Joan was just 21, raising her young son alone in a council house in the Northwest of England, when life began to feel increasingly difficult to explain. The property already carried unsettling rumours about the families who had lived there before, but Joan initially had far more ordinary concerns: persistent infestations, illnesses, accidents, electrical faults and appliances which seemed determin...

On a quiet island in Sweden’s Lake Mälaren stands Ängsö Castle, a centuries-old estate whose pale walls conceal some of the country’s darkest and most enduring legends. Generations have told of figures still moving through its rooms, an encounter rooted in an ancient Scandinavian tradition, and a final story that suggests something far more dangerous than a restless spirit may once have been welco...

In the final of our three journeys into documented paranormal history this season, we travel to 1970s West Germany and a case which remains almost impossible to separate from the controversy surrounding it. At its centre is a young woman, a deeply religious family, doctors, priests, recordings made behind closed doors, and a series of decisions that would eventually be examined far beyond the wall...

Welcome, to Dark Realms. Today’s Dark Realm has sincerely been one of my favourites to create. The Forbidden City, a vast imperial complex that for more than five centuries housed emperors, concubines, servants, guards and some of the most closely guarded secrets in Chinese history. Behind its enormous red gates lies a place shaped by extraordinary wealth and power, but also confinement, rivalry,...

Its author describes herself as a beacon to the other side, drawing in everything from curious spirits to entities shaped by hatred, grief and something far more ancient. Each...
