Toonhounds

Garden walls? Over it, mate. We're deep in the boughs of October here on planet Earth, and what better way to ring in the pump & kin than by watching the most autumnal cartoon since fall fell? We really enjoyed this show, so don't worry, we're not being weird about beloved cartoons. --- https://www.patreon.com/toonhounds

We're getting totally batty on the Toon-Train today (that's right, new lore, we're on a steam train now) and watching two VASTLY different interpretations of pipistrello-man. Or are they that different?? Yes, actually, for once they really are. www.patreon.com/toonhounds

As Billy Shakes once said: Brevity is the soul of wit. So is a 90 minute podcast about 20 minute cartoons witless, or can we bite our thumb at the bard? The time has come at last to find out if the toonhounds are whoreson zeds, with no more faith in us than a stewed prune; or will old wrinkles come with our mirth and laughter?

Or as we like to call it, X-Men the Animated Series '92 Season 7. This week on Toonhounds, we struggle with the concept of time travel, complain extensively, and give advice on staying safe in the summer by not staring at the sun.

I know what you're thinking, I wish my favourite toon-based fortnightly podcast would do an episode on anime psychics. It's your lucky day, Fred, because here we are.

Howdy toonfans! Today we're seeing what happens when a studio thinks something is going to be popular, even if they put no actual effort into it. A cautionary tale about creative vision, bandwagons and giving Yogi Bear clothes.

ERROR: EPISODE DESCRIPTION NOT FOUND That's 'robot' for "Hello toonheads!" Since the dawn of Kraftwerk, humanity has been fascinated by robots. What are they? Where do they come from? Why did we let them steal all the fun jobs, instead of the shit ones? These questions being organised in a group of three is a reference to how AI stole everything from us. Here's an episode...

Finishing off our big ol' look at the 2023 Scott Pilgrim animated series with 4 more great episodes. We also talk about new games coming out we think look good post gamesfest, and answer some emails

Welcome to the first part of our look at 2023's Scott Pilgrim Takes Off! The sort-of-but-not-really adaptation of the graphic novel and movie. We talk about video games a lot in this one.

Alternate title: The evil of man. Which doesn't really narrow it down. Mouse May draws to a close this week, may it f'rever be r'membered, and we watched some films about mice having grand old adventures. Are we in for whimsical, Wind in the Willows-esque jaunts where the voles wear waistcoats and pilot small motor-vehicles, or will we end up staring at the walls and contemplating the...

Happy Mouse May! For this absolutely real holiday, we're celebrating with a staple of animation and comedy — putting animals in little hats.

Babies. We all were 'em. Who needs 'em? That's what we're out to answer in this week's episode of Toonhounds. Not us apparently, get ready to be slightly upset with us for our inflammatory comments about Muppet Babies.

Put the pedal to the medal and get ready to kick it into high gear, slam on the brakes and crank up the stereo, live life on the fast lane and uh... turn on the wipers because, uh... This week we watched Initial D and Redline and it was a lot of fun!

Happy Mar25 day, Toonfriends. This week on the show we watched some more toons based on vidjagames. I think this is like the 4th time? Who can keep track. Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness was a show that made us both almost fall asleep within a 20 minute runtime, and The Super Mario Bros Movie was a movie that made us complain about Nintendo's output for way too long and probably makes us soun...

Awright toonhaaands. We've got a couple of doozies for you this week, as we strap a ludicrous amount of pouches to our kevlar-lined uniforms, unnecessarily cock our pistols and put huge knives in our socks, because we're watching some violent superhero shows. The Boys present: Diabolical and Invincible are in our laser sights from the helicopter were hanging upside down from, so expect a l...

In the name of cartoons, I will punish you!! With a really good podcast. We watched some shows about magic, girls, and magical girls this week. Sailor Moon, and Miraculous Ladybug.

Howdy toonfans! On the show this week we're having a look at some shows about team sports, the volleyball focused Haikyu!! and the soccer/football jaunt Hurricanes. Guess which one involves wallabies as a major plot device? --- patreon.com/toonhounds theme music by https://vidazen.carrd.co/

Howdy Toonhounds! There's more Fantasy than you can shake a multipronged halberd at out there, so we watched a couple more cartoons in the realm of creatures and burly men. Pirates of Dark Water, (which should absolutely be called darkwater, but unfortunately they didn't ask me), and Conan the Adventurer, not to be confused with Conan the Adventurer, which is a different show entirely and...

We're kicking off the year of the horse as we mean to go on, by watching a show about the saddest horse of all - Bojack Horseman. Before that though, we watched Tuca and Bertie , a show that also has a horse but he's not quite as sad. --- Toonhounds is brought to you by https://www.patreon.com/Toonhounds Our theme song is from Vidazen, https://vidazen.carrd.co/

The end of another year approacheth, and what better way to celebrate the festivities than with our ol' buddy ol' pal Matthew? And by tying him to a chair, pomodoro technique style, and forcing friends to watch garbage? This holiday season, we watched Shrek the Halls, Olive the Other Reindeer, and -- Santa forgive us -- Chuck E. Cheese's The Christmas That Almost Wasn't

Happy December, toonfans! This week we're watching some shows that will make you go "huh, strange." and "How interesting." and "Well." SURREAL CARTOONS! But, what constitutues surrealism in the animated space? ...Well, anyway, we watched Midnight Gospel and Undone

Fire up that uniquely 1980s piece of nostalgia and get ready for a wild ride, because we're heading back... to the past!! Like that's not a thing we do every episode. This time (lol) we're watching some cartoons from so far back in the past it predates our modern sensibilities and decency. All the way back in... 1990?! What the hell?! We watched Back To The Future (The Animated Series)...

Ahoy captain! This week we took a load off and watched some good ol' Looney Tunes. The one rule we had was no appearances from the big names, so no Bugs, no Daffy and no Porky. We watched Tweety in A Tale of Two Kitties (1941), Pepé Le Pew in Scent-imental Over You (1947), Sylvester & Tweety in Room and Bird (1951), Foghorn Leghorn in Raw! Raw! Rooster! (1956), Speedy Gonzales in The Pied...

Wow they made a hundred of these? In this weeks special audio only video edition of the show, we celebrated our epicentennisode by playing some quizzes on sporcle. Technical difficulties after recording did put a bit of a dampener on things, but it's fine!! Here's to 30,000 more!

dun dun, dun, da dun. That was the terminator theme if it wasn't obvious. This week's episode is almost as hard to explain as that time we watched Monkeybone. It's cartoons based on Arnold Schwarzenegger properties in which Arnie himself does not feature (we think!) We watched the 2024 netflix anime series Terminator Zero, and the 2025 feature length Predator: Killer of Killers
