Quick note on that explanation of the phrase 90 day wonder: I was totally off base. Although I'm pretty sure I've heard it explained as such, the term 90 day wonder is a reference to the officers candidate school (or OCS) founded in the 1940's and used to overcome the loss of officers due to the second world war.
