The Padded Cell Podcast

What have a popular zoo creature, a competitive board game, a very exclusive aviation club and sexual sinning got in common? They're all getting an airing in The Padded Cell this week! It's Episode 157, and we're swerving the usual Bonfire Night stories in favour of some rather more interesting stuff. We've got oodles of strange history, a club with a membership requirement tha...

It's Halloween in The Padded Cell, and I am joined by Sisi Wednesday for a suitably spooky episode! We've got witchcraft, creepy folklore and some seriously dodgy practices from days gone by! We also get stuck into vampires, horror films, books that have scared the shit out of us and a few personal experiences that might just make you think twice. Of course, we couldn't possibly get...

I'm back with Barry in the Padded Cell and Barry is sporting some rather fetching heart-shaped sunglasses! This week, we're digging up a rather bizarre tale involving a dead millionaire, celebrating the wonderfully weird world of octopuses, and I test Barry's imagination when I hand him a rather unusual BDSM toy.  A bit of history, some fascinating facts and plenty of laughs.  This...

We're back with Part 2 of Episode 155, and this week Vicky and Barry are getting stuck into swinging! With over 20 years of experience on the scene, Vicky takes a look at why people swing, how things have changed over the years, and some of the psychology behind it all. Barry's got a few opinions of his own, of course, so expect a bit of debate, plenty of laughs and the usual Padded Cell...

Kev joins me in the Cell this week for another trip down several completely unrelated rabbit holes. We’ve got a woman whose reputation became much bigger than the reality, possibly the unluckiest submarine ever built, weird science, psychedelics and a Lady Lobotomy question involving something rather permanent. Then the Fetish Factoid gets VERY much into my territory 😈 Plus Kev is off on a cruise...

Barry's back with me this week and, as usual, we go off on several tangents before I've barely got through the intro. We celebrate International Coffee Day, although obviously I'm not going to just talk about coffee because that's boring. Then I've had a request from a listener that means Barry has to get out of his chair and become my glamorous assistant for a little demo...

Vicky is joined by Andy for Episode 152, and somehow a perfectly innocent celebration of gorillas takes us exactly where you'd expect The Padded Cell to take it....filthy. We discover some surprisingly human behaviour from our hairy cousins, Andy introduces us to an internet subculture I had somehow completely missed, and Lady Lobotomy receives one of those messages that starts off complicate...

Vicky is joined once again by Sisi Wednesday and the episode kicks off with birthday funerals, rock ’n’ roll rebellion, microscopic horrors and a discovery that looks suspiciously familiar to Star Wars fans. Sisi then takes us somewhere we absolutely weren't expecting, as an innocent-looking hobby turns out to have links to rebellion, survival and even wartime espionage. Never underestimate s...

Three years. 150 episodes. And what better way to celebrate than by bringing back a bit of live Padded Cell chaos? I am joined by Kev for a very special birthday episode and Kev’s first ever live show, as we look back at how far the podcast has come, the people who’ve been part of the journey, the things that have changed along the way and what’s coming next. But this is still The Padded Cell, so...

One more episode until 150 and our third anniversary... and Jim's back in the Cell with me for an episode containing naked men, lethal architecture, old flames, swingers and an absolutely unreasonable number of cunts.
