When we get to Acts 21, we see Paul seemingly go against the Spirit, or does he?  Or was it a matter of the clash between how some visions were interpreted and what the Spirit actually meant?

What is your goal in living the Christian life?  How well do you want to finish the race?  Paul says goodbye to the Ephesians as the Holy Spirit leads Him toward the finish line. 

Sometimes, there is just so much to say.  Paul knew he might not get the chance to be with these people again, so he wanted to give them as much instruction as possible.  Remember, there were no Bibles in those days (the New Testament hadn't been written yet).  How much can you absorb?  Do you hunger after God's Word? Paul continued to travel, and he continued to exemplify the example of never traveling alone as a key disciplemaking strategy. 

Sometimes our message will confront the culture in ways the culture doesn't like. That culture may not always respond kindly to our message, and it could get ugly. 

Some people use God for gain.  Some people use His name to make themselves look appealing to a group of people. Be careful how you use The Name of Jesus.  God upholds the honor of His Name.

As in Ephesus, where some of the believers weren't informed about the Holy Spirit, so in our day, we sometimes live as if we don't have the Holy Spirit.  You have the Holy Spirit; let Him make a difference in and through your life!

At the end of Acts 18, another prominent teacher enters the scene, but even he needed more schooling as an everyday disciple-maker.  Apollos sat with some everyday disciple-makers and learned more fully the way of Jesus. Are you an everyday disciple-maker?

Sometimes, our service to Christ requires doing work outside the scope of our ministry service to support ourselves in our work. Paul had to do it, so we should not be surprised if we also have to do it occasionally. 

As missionaries, studying culture to understand it and conversationally engaging that culture doesn't change our end message. The message has been and remains the same across millennia—repent and turn to Christ.

Paul, while deeply grounded in God's truth, also observed and studied the cultures into which he was carrying the Gospel.  If we want to be effective as missionaries in our respective contexts, we must at least be observant and aware of the cultures in which we are working.

We have noticed that the missionaries always took someone along. Disciple-makers will take others with them to help them become equipped. 

Not only did Paul and Barnabas preach, but we also see an expansion of Gospel preaching and the multiplication of leadership.

Many distractions can come crashing down against the mission of the gospel. The early church faced one such distraction, a conflict, but they demonstrated how to resolve it and keep the main thing the main thing. 

The first missionary journey had incredible costs, including the personal costs of persecution and the financial costs of the travel.  What does it cost to serve Christ in Gospel Ministry?

Paul and Barnabas were convinced of their calling and sentness, so they continued their mission, preaching Christ everywhere they went, but it wasn't without challenges. 

Paul told the story of Jesus through the lens of Redemptive History up to his day.  Are we able to communicate a more complete narrative than just a simple Gospel presentation?

Barnabas and Saul (Paul) took along a spiritual intern, modeling for us something we need to employ if we want to grow a movement.

The Church is not to just look internally at its own issues and growth.  If the Church looks outwardly as a missionary sending church, God will often bless the church, the word of God will spread, and people will respond in faith. 

Why do some people suffer while others are spared?  It is a mystery, but it is part of human existence. 

What Satan may mean for evil and to stop the Gospel, it ends up causing the Gospel to spread exponentially. 

Sometimes, people inside the Church question and criticize God's work. It is up to us to defend God's work and help others see it.
