Talkin' Ders

Steve's back, and the Sounders finally won. Twice. Steve returns from hiatus just in time to see the winless streak die. It ran 13 games, back to May. Musovski and Rusnák beat Real Salt Lake 2-0 without Dejan Joveljić, who's away on Serbia duty. Then Morris, Dotson, and Arriola took down Minnesota 3-1. We get into why it clicked: Alex Roldan back at right back, a healthy Cristian in the mi...

Sounders Annual Business Meeting is prior to the match on Saturday September 26th. Alliance Members check your email for RSVP and be on the lookout for the GM Vote in October. https://linktr.ee/t...

Shane & Smashley are back on the mics for your Seattle Sounders  This week we are talking about more injuries, more offensive hiccups, more defensive frustrations, more nonsense and potentially more hope! We also discuss the unfortunate passing of Tom Biro. An incredible human being that helped shape the culture & direction of not only the fans but the club itself.  Our condolences to his...

Now that Steve’s back after FluRona and Mexico, it seems quite a lot has happened. Losing streak improved to a winless streak, and some roster moves that seem to have Craig Waibel feeling like the chessmaster that Joveljić actually is. What does the Chicago draw mean besides more exciting football? What will it take to stay above the line and make a deep playoff run? Are all the parts there, or ar...

Sounders are back baby and so are we! The losing streak ends, the kids are alright, the adults are exhausted, the starters are still hurt, Schmetz has a new piece on the board, there's new numbers, new contracts and so much more in Sounders land. We have a quick three game recap before moving onto exciting roster news as well as a preview of Saturday's Match against Chicago. https://linktr...

After two Leagues Cup Games we are still bad but ok? Doug from the You Want Mora podcast steps in as a Special Guest Host. We cover a horrendous loss and a swashbuckling win. Sounders Fans are still in disarray as we break the loss streak, we saw the debut of a Designated Player, we saw another injury to that same Designated Player, Nouhou is inviting players to fight in the tunnel and more on thi...

The Sounders struggles continue on the field as we talk about the silly game we love and how it can get better from here as well as potential signings? More importantly our friends & family can use your support as devastating wildfires are spreading across Eastern Washington. Spokane welcomed the Sounders & Reign this year and gave them a home when Lumen Field was under renovation. Our hea...

We don’t need to tell you things are not great in the House that Sigi Built. On the 10th anniversary of his exit from the club, we weigh the pros and cons of swinging the axe and where the blame might actually lie for our recent form. Are Schmetzer and the FO even on the same page anymore? What is this Leagues Cup “break” going to do to the already struggling and damaged spine of the team? Does Sm...

We all saw it, we all sort of predicted it, and now we have to talk about it. Arguably the worst loss at home in modern Sounders history, there was very little to be happy about. And we tried. It’s hot, no one has air conditioning, and the ‘Ders are misbehaving. What’s the recipe? Will there be a signing to stop this bleed? Is there an injury problem in the league, or is it just us? Why is Jordan...

We’re back after the world cup break – after 53 days of no sounders ball, we are hungry, and the hot takes are flowing like tea in Boston Harbor on the 250th Anniversary of whatever. US are out in spectacularly horrible fashion, FIFA remains awful, but everyone seems to have had a great time. Sounders take on the Timbers at Seattle Stadium [sic] on Thursday, so we might as well talk about that, to...

Tonight, we’re recapping a match that felt like a premium heavyweight boxing match - but we slipped on the mat early and it took us at least 25 minutes to get back on our feet. We went down to BMO Stadium, went punch-for-punch with Marc Dos Santos's LAFC, tried to control the tempo, but left with nothing but a dented post and an agonizing 'what if'. But the silver lining? We are offici...

Tonight, we have to unpack a week that gave us absolute football whiplash. Midweek, after saving a point against the San Diego Sockers, we were on top of the world—lifting the Heritage Cup after a five-goal thriller that proved our squad depth is real. Then Saturday arrived, and the LA Galaxy walked right into our house, exposed our heavy rotation, and snapped a pair of legendary streaks. We’re br...

Today, we’re reviewing a disappointing draw for the Rave Green as the Sounders visited Sporting Kansas City on Saturday May 2nd. Despite scoring early on, the boys managed to allow Kansas City to flip the script and make the sounders pay for an uncharacteristic mistake. Although the Kansas City Wizards are still Wood Spoon contenders, their players came to play despite their only hope this year be...

Today, we’re reviewing another victory for the Rave Green as the Sounders hosted FC Dallas on Saturday April 25th. Undefeated on Lumen’s new grass, The Sounders had a wonky game where both teams felt the absences of star players. Thankfully our depth continues to impress as Brian Schmetzer’s boys saw out a Two to One victory to bring our overall record to 6-1-1 and 4th in the West despite playing...

This episode we’re talking about the high-water mark that didn't quite reach the shore. We beat Tigres, we dismantled St. Louis, and we’re looking down the barrel of an FC Dallas team that thinks they can break against our heavy defensive anvil at Brougham Park. We’ve got injury heartbreaks, but a $2 million war chest and proof the “rest” defense is the best it's been in five years. What a...

This episode we’re talking about the match against the Houston Dynamo in which The Sounders brought some Seattle Sunshine with them down to Texas. Brian ‘The Professor’ Schmetzer continues to build a consistent identity, our defense keeps up their bend don’t break policy, Andrew Thomas is cementing his spot for the next decade, Paulie is still Primetime and looking ahead as the Sounders play Tigre...

This episode we’re talking about a $2 million hole in the heart of the Rave Green. Georgi Minoungou is officially a Colorado Rapid, and while the accountants are popping champagne over that GAM total, the rest of us are wondering who’s going to provide the magic off the bench. We’re breaking down the trade of the season, checking the pulse on the 1 2 3 other players in that slot,, and looking ahea...

Steve & Shane are back with their usual shenanigans talking about the greatest team you’ve ever seen THE Seattle Sounders. We discuss CONCACAF dominance, MLS superiority and a continued ego boost that has the fan base believing we are going to win it all. Players are injured, players are returning, and some players are taking international trips to obtain glory for foreign lands seldom spoke o...

Episode 3: Tonight, we’re recapping a week that was basically a 3,000-mile survival course. From the humidity of St. Louis to the turf in Vancouver, and finally back down to the South Bay, the Sounders have been living out of suitcases and stacking results. We’re talking three games in nine days, three completely different tactical looks, and—dare I say it—a defense that’s starting to look like a...

S01E02 - March 2, 2026 As Shane and Steve grow together, we invite you to do the same! We talk about the matchup between RSL and Sounders at **redacted** Field in Sandy, UT, where Sounders fell 2-1, but not before some exciting play mixed with some tactical errors, and a team getting to know each other in an evolving system missing several key pieces from last year. We briefly preview the second m...

Introducing Steve & Shane (or Shane & Steve) talking about your beloved Seattle Sounders in the pilot episode of Talkin’ Ders. We discuss our approach, and cut it up on the 2026 season opener between Seattle and Colorado on Sunday. Building up, crashing down, and recovering from some challenges is what makes Sounders our team. We’re finding our voices, and look forward to you finding them...
