Summer Fondue Sessions

This week, we're taking a little de-tour from vocal house into the instrumental side of Summer Fondue. Jazzy soulful grooves, flowing melodies and improvisations, with the instruments telling their own stories. Featuring ten tracks from 2002–2026, we're mixing older favorites from Mark Grant, Louis Benedetti and Dennis Ferrer with fresh releases from Raffaele Ciavolino, Jo Paciello and more. Diffe...

It’s been 20 years since the first Summer Fondue episode. For this anniversary mix, I put together two hours of the sounds I’ve loved playing over the years: deeper grooves, West Coast house, funky cuts, a bit of latin, classic soulful vocals and a touch of disco. It begins with the very track that opened the first episode and ends with the track that gave the show its name. I’ll share a few memor...

Back to home studio, we're continuing our year-by-year flashback journey through the golden age of soulful house, and locking the time machine onto 2010 this week. 🕰️ By the turn of the decade, soulful house was still at the peak of lush live orchestration, soaring vocal performance and irresistibly warm driving dancefloor grooves. No signs of repetitive AI slop! This 2010 set is packed with timel...

Sun-Drenched Soulful House ⛰️ Chilled Outdoor Mix | Summer Fondue 234 by DJ Soulmate

Building on the Soulful House Gems Flashback series, this time we're revisiting 2009. It was still the golden age of classic soulful funky house music, and I hope to prove that with this week's selection of tracks from 2009. 📺 This is Episode 233 of the Summer Fondue Sessions radioshow, originally an audio‑only show, now in the video format → watch this mix on YT at https://www.youtube.com/@summe...

Locking the time machine again onto the incredible musical landscape of 2008! Following the amazing response to our previous flashbacks, we are digging another year of classic soulful house magic. Soaring vocal arrangements, warm live instrumentation, and deep driving grooves still shine and hold the exact same emotional power as they did almost twenty years ago. Turn up the volume and let's dance...

Time machine is still on - welcome to 2007! The feedback on our last trip back to 2006 was so good that I couldn't resist turning this into a proper series. So today we are moving just one year forward. 19 years ago soulful house music was in a beautiful sweet spot - rich production and lush arrangements, with the focus on real songs that have lived in my heavy rotation and heart ever since. Turn...

Time machine is on! We are turning the clock back exactly 20 years. This mix is my personal tribute to 2006, the year Summer Fondue Sessions was born. I went digging in the crates to pull the pure soulful house tracks released during that exact year. These are the basslines, unforgettable vocal hooks and vibes that I absolutely adore, tracks I can listen to a thousand times and never get tired of....

Today we’re taking a detour from from our usual sun-drenched poolside energy and head straight into the late-night hours. This episode is a collection of deeply emotional, vocal-driven deep house anthems from 2006 to 2014. It’s nostalgic, heavy with feeling, and is almost spiritual (but still soulful). There is this specific kind of magic when deep house tracks are treated as real living songs. It...

In this episode, we're jamming with the legendary 80s and 90s anthems we know by heart, but through a modern, funky lens. It's the sounds of our youth - iconic tracks I was listening to many years ago, transformed by modern producers to give them a fresh nu-disco heartbeat. Featuring reimagined hits from: Madonna, Haddaway, 2 Unlimited, Blur, Faithless, Genesis, Bronski Beat. Depeche Mode.. Whethe...

No words, just pure soul. Sometimes the music says more without any lyrics. For this 227th episode, I’m stripping things back to focus on the pure musicianship. We’re chilling with a curated selection of jazzy soulful house instrumentals - think Rhodes pianos, live sax, flutes, trumpets, and the steady 122-125 BPM groove. Whether you're winding down the day or need a sophisticated rhythm for the b...

Familiar hooks, fresh beats. For this week’s episode, we’re exploring that beautiful friction between the '70s/'80s disco era and modern production. This is "Disco but Edits" — a deep dive into the world of disco re-edits and nu-disco reimagining. I’ve put together a selection of tracks that pay homage to the legends (think Stephanie Mills, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, and Pino D'angio; don’t thin...

In this week’s episode: sweet classic soulful & vocal house, and 100% DJ Soulmate vibes. :) From 2003 to 2007, soulful house had a special kind of magic - piano-driven hooks, live percussion, and proper songs with full vocal arrangements. I’m playing some of my favorite gems from the era, including tracks from Richard Earnshaw, Jamie Lewis, Roberto De Carlo and Rasmus Faber. Whether you remember t...

After years of strictly soulful house, I'm exploring sounds that feel like the perfect natural evolution for Summer Fondue. So in this week's episode we're doing another fusion of Modern Funk, Nu-Boogie, and Nu-Disco with soulful edits. We're traveling from the West Coast synth-funk of E. Live and B. Bravo to the chic disco-infused streets of Paris with Yuksek and L'Impératrice, while keeping our...

For this episode, I’m digging into the sounds that first made me fall in love with house music. It's all about that cozy classic soulful feeling: warm Rhodes chords, vocals from legends like Lisa Shaw and Barbara Tucker, and that unmistakable sun-drenched groove. All tracks are from 2003-2011, and 100% pure soulful. Press play and feel the glow. 📺 This is Episode 223 of the Summer Fondue Sessions...

This is a journey that connects the soulful roots of Summer Fondue with the nu-disco sounds I’ve been obsessed with lately. We start off smooth and sophisticated with some deeper vibes honoring that classic soulful house spirit. As the session heats up, we move into the groove with some heavy-hitting funky house and disco reworks. And to close it out, I’ve put together a Paradisco finale that real...

This time, it’s all about that sophisticated swinging jazzy house sound. The selection leans heavily into its jazz roots: live brass, saxophone loops, snappy Rhodes pianos, and that unmistakable Parisian energy. It’s the groove that happens when house music meets jazz culture. Urban, classy, and built for those who love a bit of soul in their 4/4 beats, the mix builds from smooth deep-jazz openers...

Get ready for a serious trip down memory lane! This episode is a two-hours journey through the sounds that inspired Summer Fondue from the very beginning - those banging soulful funky house classics from the early 2000s. From the powerhouse vocals of Barbara Tucker and Jocelyn Brown to the legendary productions of Grant Nelson, Knee Deep and Soulsearcher, this one is for everyone who loves their h...

Back to the roots! For this Fondue, we put aside the modern stuff and go old school to celebrate the feel-good classics that started it all. Expect a solid hour of pure disco, funk, and boogie featuring legends like Bee Gees, Cerrone, Imagination, and Chic. It’s a journey through the soulful, funky, and glittering sounds of the 1970s and 80s. If you love bass guitars, brass sections, and vocals wi...

Another feel-good journey through nu-disco, funky disco house, upbeat disco edits and fresh reworks of golden gems we know and love. Bringing familiar melodies back to life, with glossy pop-disco energy, playful edits, 80's flavoured synth funk and easy crowd-smiling house vibes. 📺 This is Episode 218 of the Summer Fondue Sessions radioshow, originally an audio‑only show, now in the video format...

A sun-drenched ride through nu-disco, funky & disco house, indie dance and melodic vocal house – from poolside grooves and French-touch flavours to modern boogie and feel-good retro-future jams. 📺 This is Episode 217 of the Summer Fondue Sessions radioshow/podcast, and my first attempt in the video format! → watch this mix on YT https://youtu.be/MNEWsxOus9Y?si=E4fn-N7pwisK382k 🌐 More information...

Sitting in the lockdown, I just felt like djing and hit “Record”. So there it is, 80 minutes of Summer Pandemic Sessions, freestyle of some nice tunes, no skills, no new releases, probably not even soulful, but still worth sharing. Expect works by Cerrone, Chuck Love, INXS, Lisa Shaw, Can 7, Goldroom etc. Published in Jun 2020.
