Spoil Me

Thank you very much to Max for commissioning this episode! So this is a really heavy episode, in which we learn a lot more about the genocide of the Ishvalan people and the ways in which the folks we have gotten to know reacted to the orders they were given at the time. There's something reassuring about the fact that some of them had a major issue with what they were being asked to do, but it's u...

Thank you to Heather for commissioning this episode! This is the point at which we discovered what happened to Brian, and I'm very excited over the fact that he's going to wind up being a superhuman after all. I wasn't sure what direction we were going with him and it seems like he's going to be okay...in terms of actually continuing to be alive, at least. But he's definitely sort of a freak now....

Thank you very much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! I'm so relieved that things in Nigeria don't go the way that I was fearing they would, and interestingly we've got Michael showing up at Jean's house for an impromptu therapy session. There's a lot going on at the school in the meantime, which I think might be one of the more disturbing but accurate portrayals of the kind of "discipli...

Thank you to Max for commissioning this episode! This episode is wild in that we're getting Wrath basically telling Ed and Al everything and saying, "So glad to get that off my chest, as you were, gentlemen." He's so cavalier about it that even Roy is like "WTF" and when he shares this info with Armstrong we find out that our sweet cinnamon roll protested what he was asked to do in Ishval and was...

Thank you very much to Heather for commissioning this episode! This episode starts with the final escape of Scorp and Viper from Dr. Spears' facility, which surprisingly is pulled off essentially without incident, and without a discovery of Brian because it turns out he's in a totally different place, namely at Dr. Spears' private home. Meanwhile, Ryan is grieving the damage that she's done to Jen...

Thank you very much to Max for commissioning this episode! So this is the episode where the boys finally meet Father, but if I hoped that this was going to be a major reveal of what the objective is for this crew of homunculi, I was disappointed. Instead of getting a straight answer out of him regarding what he's doing and why, we've got a convergence of almost all our characters (except for Roy's...

Thank you so much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! This is the episode where everyone is taking trips to new places, either to France as in the case of most of the class, or to Nigeria in Eric's case. I remain extremely concerned about Eric's trip and will breathe a huge sigh of relief when he's safely home. Our friends in France, meanwhile, are getting up to a lot of hijinks, whether i...

Thank you to Max for commissioning this episode! So this episode was a little tough to cover because most of it is re-treading a lot of things we've already seen. While it's understandable that we might need a refresh while watching this in real time, for the way I'm watching it just feels really redundant. However, there are also the interspersed scenes of Hempstool dreaming that he's at a party...

Thank you to Heather for commissioning this episode! So in this section we get a pretty cool series of scenes that have me really wondering what's in store, between Brian deciding to undergo the procedure and Ryan contacting Jenna the AI. Also, there's something shady going on with Reggie and I'm dying to know what it is, because Chance can tell something is up and he's bound to find out eventuall...

Thank you to Max for commissioning this episode! This one is pretty fascinating because we've got the confluence of a few things going on. First, we've got Al heading to see the Father with Gluttony, and their journey underground in an area guarded by weird creatures. They're being pursued by Scar and Mei Chang, who wants her panda back, and I'm fascinated by what's going to happen when Al meets T...

Thank you to Max for commissioning this episode! In this one, Ed is stuck (with Ling and Envy) inside Gluttony's belly, which it turns out is actually a failed attempt to recreate a portal. They spend a lot of time looking for an exit without success, and then we get to see Envy's true form and it's TERRIFYING. Meanwhile, Al is out in the regular world making a deal with Gluttony that the big guy...

Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! This episode is the one where we actually get an attempt at real sex-education in the school (and by real attempt, I by no means mean accurate or correct, I mean that there's a full class setup instead of weird little asides thrown out there before the start of chemistry or whatever) and it goes VERY poorly. As it should. Meanwhile, Maeve is co...

Thank you so much to Max for commissioning this series! So this episode goes in a direction I never saw coming, and which I find deeply concerning. Apparently everyone in the government (at least at a higher level) is aware that Bradley is a fucking homunculus?! I hate this so much. Oh and Ed gets eaten by Gluttony. Thanks for listening!

Thank you to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! So this is the episode where everyone has had to transition to school uniforms, and it goes better than Hope should have expected, but not as good as she wanted. Because she's looking for automatons and not human beings. Meanwhile, Jakob and Ola have moved in with Jean and Otis and it's...not going great. The main event in this episode though i...

Thank you to Max for commissioning this series! I was worried this episode was going to be about Winry getting somehow roped into things again, but thankfully she's put into a train at the end of the episode and sent safely away. Lan Fan though, is forced to sacrifice her whole arm to throw Bradley off her scent, which is so badass but also people just keep losing their arms!? Things culminate in...

Thank you so much to Heather for commissioning this episode! These chapters are the ones in which Lindon tells the team the truth about his origin and what's been going on with planet Earth this whole time. It's the time for revelations, because Jordan has told her sisters the truth about their own family as well. Or perhaps it's NOT the time for revelations, because Jordan sure doesn't share with...

Thank you to Max for commissioning this episode! This episode was really fucking heavy. There's so much grief, there's so much violence, and there are some really effective, stark examples of how these cycles of violence continue to play out endlessly, even spanning generations. Poor Winry unexpectedly gets hit with the news that the guy Ed is fighting is the same guy who killed her parents, and w...

Thank you very much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! This installment of Sex Education gets a whole lot of things done, and I believe that's because so much of the focus is on the way that characters communicate with each other. We've got Isaac coming clean to Maeve after lying for months, there's Jean and Jakob sitting down and being honest about what they want, there's Adam figuring o...

Thank you to Max for commissioning this episode! In these episodes we see the immediate aftermath of the fight between Colonel Mustard and Lust, and Havoc is apparently paralyzed from the way down. This sucks. I hate this for him. Meanwhile, Ed is trying to use himself as bait for the Homunculi by putting his life in danger by fighting Scar in the street. I'm not sure exactly how effective this wi...

Thank you very much to Yama for commissioning this episode! In the remainder of this chapter, we come face-to-face with the Lone One much more quickly than I had expected. I have to be honest, I'm a little disappointed by how that scene went, but there's enough left of the book that I'm thinking maybe Diane Duane can still pull this one out. On a sadder note, it seems we've lost Ronan and I'm supe...

Thank you to Max for commissioning this episode! In this one we're getting some additional information about what could potentially be going on with Al's body in the portal based on some revelations about the bodies that were conjured with alchemy. The issue I'm having is that there are an awful lot of leaps being made that don't seem to have a lot of evidence behind them, and I'm wondering if the...

Thank you to Max for commissioning this episode! In this episode, we're getting the confrontation between Colonel Mustard and Lust, and shit goes very very left. When they track down Barry The Chopper in the hospital, there's a big showdown that ends with Havoc badly injured, and Barry dead. Meanwhile, Ed is off on his own and stumbles across his father. Thanks for listening, and I will see you so...

Thank you so much to Ashleigh for commissioning this episode! I'm so excited to be getting back into this universe. I'm really into the changes that we're seeing in this season already, and I'm super curious what lies in store with the new Headmistress. Also, I'm waiting for the bomb of Otis's deleted message to explode. Thanks for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

Thank you to Heather for commissioning this episode! We're starting the next book in the Children Of Divinity series, and we're finding out about the Incarna and the way that they assisted with the direction of humanity's growth over the millenia. We get a lot more detail about how it worked, and the fact that they are getting instructions from an actual god? Well damn. Thanks for listening!

Thank you to Max for commissioning this episode! We're getting the wrap-up of the whole mess with Barry The Chopper in this episode as Gluttony is in the middle of trying to strangle Hawkeye when the curtain goes up. What follows is a series of chases that end in the basement area of a hospital, and we watch Colonel Mustard go absolutely ham on Lust's ass. Thanks so much for listening!
