This short story by Canadian humourist Stephen Leacock is gently humourous and softly spoken, to help you smile before you drift off. Leacock was an influence on Jack Benny and Groucho Marx (google them, young ones) and is beloved in Canada. I'll be adding more 'gentle humour' classic stories in the future, I hope you enjoy!

An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge is one of the most anthologized short stories in the world. It was even adapted for television as episodes of The Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. It's beautifully written, and I certainly hope you enjoy the way it's read.
