What do you do when the worst chapter of your life becomes the only story you know how to tell? In this message, we dig into Luke 8 and the man living among the tombs, and discover that Jesus crosses the lake for the one person everyone else has written off.

We’re pretty good at welcoming Jesus. We’re less good at welcoming the people Jesus welcomes. Today’s message is taken from Luke 7:36–50.

In Luke 7, Jesus encounters a widow on the worst day of her life, and he doesn't wait for an invitation. This message from Luke 7:11-17 explores what it means to truly see the people around us, and what happens when compassion moves before it's asked to.

The same people who hid behind locked doors at Easter are now in the streets of Jerusalem, speaking every language on earth. Pentecost didn't recruit new people; it transformed the ones already there. Someone in your life is waiting to hear the good news in their own language. You're the one who speaks it.

“Won’t you be my neighbor?” isn’t just a question—it’s a way of living. Jesus calls us to notice those around us, respond with mercy, and let compassion shape our everyday lives. Epiphany reminds us that God’s light still leads us toward one another.

This week's message invites us to rediscover how loving others, especially the overlooked and forgotten, is at the heart of the Christmas story, and how simple, intentional acts of compassion can become powerful ways God shows up in our world during Advent and beyond.
