In the middle of Jesus’ Upper Room Discourse, He teaches the disciples their utmost responsibility: Abiding in Him. By doing so they will fulfill their purpose in bearing much fruit. That same responsibility is relevant to those of us today who find themselves as branches on the Christ-vine.

When Jesus told His disciples He would have to leave them, He made sure to let them know that they would not be left alone. Days later, when Jesus ascended to the Father, He sent the Advocate, the Comforter, the Teacher of Truth; God the Holy Spirit.

Christ came to persuade the lost that He was the Messiah. Christ left to prepare a place for us to worship the Father for all eternity. Christ will return, some day soon, to perfect our broken bodies and tainted souls.

At this point in the night known as “The Last Supper,” Jesus identifies Judas as the betrayer. After dismissing the fraud from their fellowship, Jesus then proceeds to tell the disciples how they were to live once He returns to the Father.

At the Last Supper, Jesus washed the disciples feet for 3 symbolic reasons: 1. To show what sacrifice He would make for them the next day at the crucifixion 2. To show them their need for daily confession and repentance 3. To show them the type of humility that Christians must live their life with

The people who witnessed Jesus’ works and words during His earthly ministry,  did not believe because they  could not and because they  would not.  Our task as Christian’s is not to worry about who can and can’t, but to share the gospel with those who haven’t and to love and disciple those who have. May our hearts continue to break for the lost and ache for our brethren.

Christ calls His disciples to follow Him to the Cross, and to serve Him while on earth. In doing so, we follow Him to the Father and will recieve our crown of righteousness.

How do you view Christ?  As fallen creatures, we will always fall short of placing Him in the proper view. However, by His grace and through His Word, we continue to grow in our understanding of a Savior who died so that we could live.

The meal in John 12 teaches us 3 key ways to rightly worship Christ. Martha serves, Lazarus sits, and Mary sacrifices, all with the goal of glorifying God.

The people who were supposed to be leading the people of Israel in holiness and righteousness, were so consumed with pride and vanity that they missed the Messiah within their very midst.

Jesus Christ is the Resurrection and the Life, both spiritually and physically.

We often think of grace as God’s unmerited favor—receiving things we don’t deserve. But God’s grace is also what empowers us to do the things He has called us to do—like giving. Have you ever considered  giving  someone else what you have in abundance? If so, how often do you? If not, why not?

Jesus Christ came to give the sheep of God abundant life, eternally. When we  hear and  heed  the voice of the Lord, we receive eternal life, never perish, and become unsnatchable! That kind of news should cause us to tell the world about the Good Shepherd called Jesus. 

Jesus is the  Door to the sheepfold of God. To enter the fold, one must place their faith in Christ. Jesus is also the  Good Shepherd  who heeds, feeds, and leads the sheep-saints for all eternity. When God’s Word is read and/or spoken, the Good Shepherd is calling for His sheep and His sheep come to His voice.

Jesus Christ is the Light of the world! To some that is great news; He shines a path for us to walk in. But to others, His light shines so brilliantly that it blinds them from seeing their sins. Which are you?

A true disciple of Christ abides in His word. Discipleship includes: believing God’s Word, seeking to glorify His name, and longing for His promised return.

At the Feast of Booths, Jesus made multiple messianic claims. The first was at the “Water-pouring ceremony” where He told all who thirst to come and drink! The second claim Jesus made was at the “Illumination ceremony” where He told them He was the light of the world! Jesus is still the light of the world and if you follow Him you will receive eternal life. 

The biblical account known as “The Woman Caught in Adultery” is actually a trial against Jesus. In this story, Jesus masterfully flips the accusation on its head and calls out the sin of the Scribes and Pharisees. After they exit, Jesus lovingly rebukes the woman and charges her to sin no more. Which people are we more like? The Scribes and Pharisees, or the woman caught in adultery?
