MISTY GREEN MOVIE REVIEW It’s not hard to see, given the immense talent of actress Rosalind Eleazar, that despite her mainly having a notable presence just on TV (check out Slow Horses if you haven’t yet, it’s amazing), she definitely can carry the weight of an entire film on her shoulders. She is the titular […]

FINAL FANTASTIC FIVESOME FORUM I know we have been pretty exhaustive this year (and most years) with our coverage of our favorite movie festival Fantastic Fest. Promise, this is the last thing we’re putting up for it this year. But it’s a big one. We get five of our attending critics, Chris, Wright, Martin, Mike, […]

GHOST IN THE CELL MOVIE REVIEW Let’s just get out of the way from the get-go that this is in no way beholden to the film that you almost certainly thought of when you saw the title was Ghost in the Cell. There’s no anime referencing here. Instead you get the modern master of Indonesian […]

5 MORE MINUTES MOVIE REVIEW The time-loop time travel conceit in film and tv has been well explored, certainly since 1993’s Groundhog’s Day (although explorations of the idea in fiction go back to the early 20th century). The Spanish film 5 More Minutes which played at this year’s Fantastic Fest sets very specific boundaries to […]

DONKEY PRINCESS MOVIE REVIEW From the directors of the politically charged, surreal, animated fairytale film The Wolf House comes the politically charged, surreal, partially animated fairytale film Donkey Princess which was featured at Fantastic Fest this year. The story follows Princess Diana who lives in a magical kingdom with her father the king. When the […]

PHREAKER MOVIE REVIEW If you’ve ever listened to us talk about Fantastic Fest, you’ve heard us say that often it’s the films that weren’t on your radar at all that end up on your ‘best of the fest’ lists. It’s rare for one of those films to be one of the minority of entries in […]

THE SPIRAL MOVIE REVIEW Coming off a run at some other major festivals and the announcement that it will be the Italian entry for Best International Feature Film at the upcoming Academy Awards, The Spiral is getting a lot of discussion right now. From a young Italian director Paolo Strippoli who has already gotten lots […]

TRASH IN THE CAN: DIRE DUPLICITY This week, the boys attempt to make sense of Neil Breen’s latest cinematic fever dream! Joined by Martin Thomas from Double Toasted, they try to unravel a story they think involves international cyber attacks and political assassinations, but honestly your guess is as good as theirs. Fighter jets, horses, […]

THE DOG STARS MOVIE REVIEW Is just surviving after an apocalyptic pandemic enough? This is the question that Ridley Scott’s new film poses. Based on the book by Peter Heller, The Dog Stars follows Hig (Jacob Elordi), a civilian pilot. He and his ex-marine friend Bangley (Josh Brolin) have holed up outside Denver in an […]

THE ODYSSEY MOVIE REVIEW Director Christopher Nolan has become one of the biggest ‘event’ directors of his generation. Pretty much no matter what he’s helming, he’ll get exactly the cast he wants, the budget he wants, people will pre-buy tickets for the first few weeks, and it will be showered in awards. I mean, how […]

MIKE & NICK & NICK & ALICE MOVIE REVIEW Writer director BenDavid Grabinski steps into the spotlight with the soft sci-fi crime caper Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice. Not to be confused with the 1969 rom-dram Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, Grabinski’s film takes place over the course of one tumultuous […]

KILL ME MOVIE REVIEW Jimmy (Charlie Day) wakes up in his bathtub, filled with his own blood from his slashed wrists. He manages to call a 911 dispatcher named Margot (Allison Williams) who sends in paramedics to save his life. His family (Aya Cash and Jessica Harper) gather around him in his hospital room; this […]

BEAST RACE MOVIE REVIEW The director of the legendary City of God returns for his first Portuguese language film since that one, teaming up with two other directors for Beast Race. Set in a post-climate disaster Rio de Janeiro, the city has come under the control of the very rich who host a violent race […]

I LOVE BOOSTERS MOVIE REVIEW Writer/Director Boots Riley made his bizarre debut in 2018 with the enormously popular Sorry to Bother You. There’s been much anticipation for his second film I Love Boosters and for fans of his socialist surrealism there’s plenty to like here. Keke Palmer plays Corvette, the leader of a group of […]

Only this time, in a first for […]

SHELBY OAKS MOVIE REVIEW A popular online video series of paranormal haunt investigators turns into a huge mystery when after going to investigate an abandoned town, Shelby Oaks, all four members of the cast go missing. The case drags on for years and years until only the sister of one of them still is determined […]

TRASH IN THE CAN: FIGHT OF FURY What would a Bruce Lee movie be like with woodenly spoken Hallmark card dialogue and fight scenes choreographed by Estelle Getty? Co-host of the Double Toasted podcast, Martin Thomas, joins us for a lively discussion on public bathroom dubbing, UFC lookalikes, and the taste of breast milk. We […]

INFESTATION: FANTASTIC FEST 2023 – MARTIN THOMAS REVIEWS We pulled in our old friend and Chris’s old co-worker from Spill dot com, Martin Thomas, to give his perspective on this year’s Fantastic Fest, his first in a decade. Martin, Chris, and Wright talk about the films The Origin, Strange Darling, Cobweb, River, Fishmonger, The Last […]

We wrap up our two-part episode with in-depth spoiler reviews of the latest seasons of some genre tv shows out now on Blu-Ray. Chris is joined by Squeak, Sarah, and Martin, respectively, in reviewing these three titles thoroughly. “Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with free copies of the Blu-Rays I reviewed in this Blog […]

THEOG returns but…different this time around. This season we’re keeping our eyes on the funny books and we figured there was no better timing of a character to start that off with than Spider-Man…and all the various related Spider-Characters (although apologies to Jessica Drew). It’s Martin Thomas. It’s Chris Cox. It’s Jason Murphy, and this […]

It’s not going to be business as usual this week. In fact, you can expect THREE episodes of Digital Noise in relatively quick succession over the next few days. This being the first, is the first of two television only shows. We got sent SO many TV season sets all at once, I figured why not […]

We have gathered an unusual amount of gentlemen this week to discuss an important topic. A topic we all have shared together, but all in a different way. That topic is, what crazy stuff did we get up to during this year’s SXSW. And there was a wide variety of crazy stuff that was gotten […]

This week Martin and Chris team up with fan-favorite Johnny Neill to have one of those great conversations you get with Johnny; the kind where it’s tempting to just sit back and listen to him hold court. He’s one of our favorite funny people and knows his stuff when it comes to talking pop culture […]

We’re back from our break between seasons (yes, that’s what I’m calling it, go with me on this one) with a freshly invigorated group of gentlemen ready to take on the world! Or at least, to take on your questions. Martin, Chris and Beau go through a giant heap of your concerns and queries that […]

Our final barrage of reviews from the best film festival in the world, Fantastic Fest, is here, and we’ve got a whole lot of movies to talk about… NIGHTCRAWLER Jake Gyllenhaal becomes a crime reporter in L.A. with the help of Rene Russo and finds it’s just as sleazy as you’d imagine EVERLY Salma Hayek […]
