Jon Reads Comics

There’s one last task to be done before the brand new episodes start in two weeks, and that is to clear the feedback deck. I always appreciate your emails, and I want to give each of them at least some attention, so in this episode, I respond to every email and iTunes review that has come in over the last five years since episode 37 was recorded. Quite a few links are mentioned in...

This is it! This is the end of an era! But of course it is also the dawn of a new! This rounds out the big Kingpin trilogy, and we also stop off briefly at the end with The X-Men 35. In two&n...

It’s a double-Rebirth episode as I talk about both the Superman books from last week and this week. The feature issues are Superman 4 and Action Comics 961, but Superwoman 1 cannot be left unmentioned, as it was definitely a standout. And I round out the episode with brief looks at New Super-Man 2, Justice League 2, and Red Hood & the Outlaws 1.

Josh, Don, and Jon are once again joined by Stephen Lacey of the Fantasticast to look at an issue of Amazing Spider-Man , in this case that’s issue 51 where Spidey and Jonah Jameson find themselves “In the Clutches of the Kingpin!” Come give a listen!

Nearly a week late due to illness and other things, but here are my Rebirth thoughts on Action Comics 960. Only one Superbook this week: Red Hood & the Outlaws: Rebirth did hit but sadly no Bizarro. Still a great read, though, so check it out! But only after you download and listen!!

It’s solicitations time again, and I’m here to share all my thought son the coming books, but we also just had San Diego Comic-Con, so I’m gonna talk about that as well. If you would like to look at the solicit text and preview covers, you...

It’s been a long road getting from there to here. It’s been a long time, but the time is finally here for “Spider-Man No More!” There is a bit of a story behind this “lost” episode. First of all, Stephen Lacey is back with us to talk Amazing Spider-Man 50, but Fall 2011 was before he became co-host of the the world-renowned Fantasticast, and we loved having him...

It’s the fifth Wednesday for the month, and DC Comics has not scheduled many books to come out today, including zero Superman books. But I won’t let that stop me from podcasting! So today is all about your emails! Thank you very much for writing in, and future feedback can be sent to new52superman at gmail dot com

Today launches a biweekly series that I am calling Road to Rebirth. Here, I’ll be helped by Al Sedano in going through the various storylines that helped to lead directly into the events immediately preceding Rebirth. Truth, Darkseid War, and Final Days are part of that, but we have a few precursors to work through first. So in this episode, we begin our coverage of Forever Evil. This is the...

Here it is, folks! The first new issue of a new Superman series, and the Tomasi/Gleason team definitely delivers, without even a single super-villain showing up in all twenty pages. But come listen to hear my thoughts on the details and continuity implications galore!

The third week of Rebirth involves the relaunch of the comic that started it all with Action Comics 957, now with 100% more original numbering! So I discuss my thoughts on the events here and their implications, and I hope you enjoy it!
