Gladiator II was an interesting rebootquel that relies on an impossible premise and some... interesting creative decisions. We're not sure it entirely works, but it's still an enjoyable movie. As not huge fans of SNL, we weren't really expecting much from Saturday Night. But give us a (borderline) one-shot movie behind the scenes of a production, and we're in. The Wild Robot was such an understated gem of a film, with an impressive voice cast and beautiful animation. Check out Lonnie’s other podcast: @ imissyouman Hit us up on Twitter: @ionlylikeyoupod Email us: slpodcasting@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

My Old Ass was one of the best movies we've ever seen, deftly handling a coming-of-age story that made us laugh and cry. Nobody Wants This... well, we kinda did? But it's a problem when there's a more interesting relationship to root for than that of your main characters! Blink Twice was a bold directorial debut from Zoë Kravitz, with impeccable sound design, acting and editing. A thrilling and poignant film featuring one of the scariest performances to date from Channing Tatum. *SA and self-mutilation are mentioned* Kinds of Kindness was weird, disconcerting and even challenging at times. But the good thing about an anthology is that there is (hopefully) something for everyone. Deadpool & Wolverine was all glossy cameos and meta-textual references thinly conveying a generic plot and basic villain. Season 3 of The Bear really let us down, with time wasted on characters that we didn't really care about and not resolving any of the conflicts promised to us. Ultimately a season with a narrative journey of spinning in a circle. A Quiet Place: Day One was an interesting slice-of-life take on the apocalypse genre with excellent performances, but it didn't give us enough action or depth of character to give the other films in its franchise a run for their money. Season 2 of Colin from Accounts matches the first season with its jokes and charm, but has a lot less Colin than we're comfortable with, honestly. Inside Out 2 did everything the first movie did, and we mean that literally. A 2D segment? Check. Joy discovering that she can't be in control? Check. A journey back to headquarters? Check. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga answered a lot of questions we didn't really care about, and didn't elucidate anything that we hadn't already assumed. A mixed bag, all in all. Twisters really blew us away! Daisy and Glen were utterly charming, and the script had a few new spins, but we will never ever forget what Steven Spielberg stole from us. Civil War showed a not-to-distant future that completely terrified us. It was brutal, confronting & didn't let up.
