After a nice win over Grand Canyon, Luka Garza was on fire against Oregon, but the Hawkeyes couldn’t advance to the Sweet 16. Lisa Bluder’s team is back in the sweet 16. Iowa wrestling brings a championship home, and Spencer Lee wins his 3rd individual title with zero ACLs.

It’s March Madness and the weekend is full of Hawkeye sports. The Iowa women play Western Michigan. The wrestling team goes to St Louis with plans to return as National champs, and the 2nd seeded men’s basketball team hopes to get two wins and advance to the Sweet 16.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are a 2 seed in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1987! In the Big Ten tournament, the 3 seed Iowa Hawkeyes beat Wisconsin for the third time this season but couldn’t get past the Fighting illini in the Big Ten conference semi-finals.

The Iowa Hawkeyes beat Nebraska by 38 and follow that up by a win over #25 Wisconsin, despite an injury to Joe Wieskamp. Luka Garza’s number was retired after the senior day win over the Badgers.

Luka Garza and Joe Wieskamp led the Hawkeyes in scoring, and Jordan Bohannon became Iowa’s all time assist leader, surpassing Jeff Horner for 1st place. It was a huge road win the the Hawkeyes.

Luka Garza and the Iowa Hawkeyes struggled offensively against a smothering Wolverines defense. Next up is another top five team for the Hawkeyes.

The Iowa Hawkeyes beat Penn State by six led by Iowa’s new all-time leading scorer, Luka Garza. Congratulations to Luka for this great accomplishment! This game was closer than we hoped but four wins in a row now for the Hawks!

The Iowa Hawkeyes beat the Wisconsin Badgers to retain 4th place all alone in the Big Ten Conference. The most efficient offense in the NCAA and a great defensive effort stymied the Badgers.

After losing 4-5, the #15 Hawkeyes rebounded to beat #25 Rutgers at home. That was followed up by handing Tom Izzo and the Spartans a 30 point loss in East Lansing, which is Izzo’s biggest loss at home in 26 years.

The Iowa Hawkeyes can’t get it going on the offensive end, the bench put up a goose egg on field goals, and foul trouble limited minutes for Luka Garza and freshman Keegan Murray. Iowa wrestling is on pause with COVID issues.

The Hawkeyes and Buckeyes faced off in a top ten matchup at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Iowa was outscored 89-85 in an offensive battle.

The Iowa Hawkeyes traveled to Champaign, Illinois to face the 19th ranked Illini and fell short in an 80-75 loss.

Due to a covid postponement by Nebraska, Iowa is on an 8 day layoff since the last game against Indiana. The Hawkeyes travel to Illinois, and these teams have no love lost between them. Must watch TV on the 29th! Go Hawks!

A cold shooting Iowa basketball team lost its second Big Ten game of the season to the Indiana Hoosiers in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeyes wrestling team continues to dominate opponents on the mat.

Iowa wrestling is back in a big way with a dominant performance over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Fran’s offense was humming, and the Hawkeyes were unstoppable against the Northwestern Wildcats, scoring 96 points.

As I reflected on the postponement of a game Fans of the #5 Hawkeyes were really looking forward to, I went down the path of being a sports fanatic during the pandemic.

After losing to Minnesota on the road, the Hawkeyes beat the Gophers by 15 points at home. Garza, Bohannon and Wieskamp all had shined for the Hawkeyes in the rematch.

Iowa traveled to Maryland and beat the Terrapins by 22. Luka Garza and Jordan Bohannon led the scoring effort, helped by Connor McCaffrey’s 10 assists. The bench, led by Keegan Murray, continues to be a strong point for this team.

The Iowa Hawkeyes traveled to Rutgers to get a gutsy win in a matchup of top 20 B1G teams, despite an early injury to Connor McCaffrey. Next up is a road game against Maryland.

The #4 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team gave up a late lead over Minnesota in the Barn and lose in overtime. Sharp shooter Jordan Bohannon had his best game of the year in a win over #19 Northwestern. Nine B1G teams are ranked in the top 25!

After playing 8 straight games and winning the last 6 in a row, the Hawkeyes’ last 2 games were canceled due to opponent covid issues. It was a disappointing ending, but at least we got to see this team play 8 games in this unusual year.

The Music City Bowl is a week away. Will the game be played? The Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team bounced back to beat Purdue in the first Big Ten game of the season for the Hawks.

Unless there happens to be a bowl season, the 2020 Iowa football season is over. What a fun 6-0 run to end the season. A lot of Hawks were honored by the Big Ten coaches and media. The 2021 football recruiting class is looking good. Iowa basketball plays Gonzaga on Saturday in a battle of #3 versus #1.
