East Bay Calvary Church

Faith of Abraham and Sarah | Tim Manzer by East Bay Calvary Church

Sometimes we read about those "great saints” of the Bible, and they feel WAY beyond our ability to connect with them. But these people found favor with God the only way it comes to any of us: by faith! Walk with us through Hebrews 11:4-7 this Sunday as we look back at Abel, Enoch, and Noah: commended and called righteous by God, by faith.

We're starting a new series in Hebrews 11 this Sunday, picking up where we'd left off last year, to dive deep into the lives of people who left us examples of how to walk by faith – jump in with us and invite someone to join you! We’re not meant just to know about Jesus; we’re meant to live for Him, and live WELL for Him! To live Christian lives that will get through hard times AND please God, we’...

Have you ever gotten excited about a gift and forgotten to appreciate the giver? Ever sneak a gift to open before its time? We sometimes rush to what Jesus has to give us without resting in what He came to accomplish. But this Sunday, in Matthew 3:13-17, don't rush past Jesus’ work for our salvation—what Jesus came to do, how He came to do it, and why He came to do it. See you Sunday!

When people come to meet Jesus, He's not always what they expect – yet He's far better! How about for the church? God created His church; do people find in us, at East Bay, what He intended? Our VISION SUNDAY Service will help springboard us into the rest of the year ahead, drawing us into God's call to Be the Church as He means for us to be in His Word. We're eager for you to dive into this call...

The flesh, the world, and the devil all work to distract us from preparing the way for Jesus in our lives – and in others’ lives through us. As we gather this Sunday and apply Matthew 3:1-12 in our lives, let's prepare the way for Jesus – in our own lives, and for others – the way that John the Baptist did.

We can struggle to connect with and trust in people who don’t understand hardship like we’ve been through. But our Savior can walk with us in our hardship as someone who has known trials––from his earliest days. We're walking through Matthew 2:13-23 this Sunday; may this message bring special encouragement to those carrying heavy burdens into the new year.

Classic Christmas songs point us back to the Old Testament's expectations of Jesus: "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel," "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing," "Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming," or "Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus." Let's not ignore the foundation of God's promises that Jesus came to stand on! With Matthew's Gospel, the Bible introduces Jesus as the long-awaited, much-anticipated Fulfiller of God’s p...

Join me as I catch up with Ken Bowman and talk through with him what has been going on in his Jesus and Salvation class. Ken talks about the deeper thoughts and questions that have come to be, and why he is excited about what may be to come next for winter equip classes!

Welcome back to Catching Up! In week 2 we caught up with Pastor Reist, and what is going on in his New Testament class. Join me as I get some insight on whats going on and what is coming next for an Equip Class starting in January!

Lets remember Paul's words in Acts 20:35, when he said: "... and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "

In a messed up, crazy, scattered world like we saw after Babel, we would be right to ask again, "Who can God work through to save us?" There's great news! God can use – and has used – unlikely and unexpected people to fulfill His promises to save! Join us in Genesis 11:10–12:3 for the transition from the ancient world to a wonderful stage of God's salvation story with Abra(ha)m. God is always fait...

Just like you "Catch Up" with friends and family, join me over the next 4 weeks of December as I "Catch Up" with all of our Equip Class Teachers! I am going to be asking them all of the questions, and diving a little deeper into what they are teaching about!

Our inclination in “making our lives count” is often to “make our names great.” With all your life goals before you, you need to decide whose name you want to make great. We're diving into Genesis 11:1-9 this Sunday to learn well from the Tower of Babel – and it will be great to see you again at East Bay.

Think of the many people all around the world: every culture, land, language, and nation. If we ignore all humanity’s origins with God, our thinking about people around the world gets distorted, and sometimes dangerous. But God’s perspective on the peoples of the world--starting in Genesis 10--will reshape our view of them and our role among them. We look forward to taking in this big picture of G...

The story of God's re-creation with Noah continues … including a new "fall" in this new world! But when we spread the word about other people’s sin, we only sin the more! Instead of spreading the word on sin, let’s learn from Genesis 9:18-29 how to deal with sin itself. We look forward to seeing you Sunday!

If we thought the work was done when the battle against the devil and death and sin ended, and when what’s bad got judged and conquered … then we’ve stopped far short! God’s future salvation is as sure as His future judgment! As we walk through Genesis 8:1-19 together, get ready and get excited about what’s yet to come!

If we don’t think God is serious about judging sin, or the eternal conscious punishment of hell, we blow off and ignore God and His warnings. We may even adjust what we believe so the future isn’t so important anyways! But when we reach Genesis 7–still pretty early in the Bible–God doesn’t bluff about His coming judgment. We need to know that we will be saved from His judgment—by Him. It's a serio...

When our world around us is desperately distant from God, people don’t understand the first thing about what the alternative, living for God, is meant to be. But in another era of spiritual darkness, in Genesis 6:9-22, we get our first long look at someone really following God--and it maps out for us what living for God looks like. Let's offer a new way of life to those around us, and let's live i...

Which do we need to remember more: the reality of death? or the reality of hope? In Genesis 5, God establishes that we can’t avoid death--only to inspire hope that we might avoid it after all! We look forward to sharing God's good news and learning to walk with God together with you this Sunday.

When our attention to people becomes earthbound, centered on skills and accomplishments, we stop seeing their need for a Savior. We need to renew our focus on our shared problem of sin – and our need for the LORD to save us! Get ready to receive Genesis 4:17-26 with us this Sunday morning, and to see one another through the lens of God's promise.

Seeing our sin is a difficult, essential step for each of us to take. But once we recognize our problem of sin, we don’t actually solve it; we all tend to make it worse! This sin pattern shows up right after Adam and Eve, and only God can break us out of it. We look forward to walking through the story of Cain and Abel with you in Genesis 4:1-16 this Sunday. Let's take hold of God's good news to d...

With such brokenness in what was a wonderful world, we’ve got to stop saying the world is great and everything’s fine! Everyone deserves to see clearly what went wrong here–and to know if there’s a way to get things right again. We'll jump into Genesis 3 this Sunday morning for a clear picture of the problem of sin –
