Dudes on Movies

Don't you wish you could listen to a podcast about 1997's Wishmaster? Well, your wish is granted… *your ears explode as the volume increases uncontrollably* *Then Andrew Divoff says something like "I've always had an ear for quality"* Fade to the next scene of a bullshit scientist examining a gem under a microscope*   QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Who are your favorite people in the horror community?   Th...

The Dudes start Horror Month with and ill-advised shortcut to Baton Rouge where they encounter scary Twin Magic in 2005's House of Wax.  This remake of a 1950s Technicolor Vincent Price film features incredible effects work, and despite some extremely mid-aughts other stuff, it goes down really easy.  Give us a listen!        QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are the best movies about twins? Thanks for l...

Zoltar grants the Dudes' wishes in 1988's Big! It's a childhood favorite and for good reason, but when watching it as an adult, you realize it's much more than "kid power" shenanigans. Love, responsibility, and friendship are all tested, as well as trampoline and laser tag skills. This movie rules.   QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What movies did you see in a theater with your parents?   Thanks for listeni...

The Dudes re-visit an infamous Modern Classic with 1998's Happiness.  Todd Solondz's dangerous film stunned audiences with its unflinching portrayal of serious issues, because unlike other movies tackling these subjects, this one made you laugh just as often as it made you uncomfortable.  It's not for everyone, but it's for everyone to talk about, so please join us.       Thanks for listening! If...

The Dudes accompany an invisible old man and an omnipotent little girl into a dystopian near future with the 2018's Freaks. This microbudget sci-fi epic borrows from famous sources at times, but it also uses a great script and brilliant actors to create an original version of a familiar story.  It also effectively comments on our current political climate while making us laugh more than once.  Joi...

The Dudes take on opponents, and family trauma, in 2011's Warrior. Although it leans on genre tropes, it still finds a way to make them interesting while telling a unique story with incredibly good performances. Good fights, great drama, and a little bit of BS make this film a good time. Watch it with your alcoholic dad! QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are the most effective movies about alcoholism? Th...

The Dudes are seduced by Vampire Culture yet again with 1987's Cult Classic The Lost Boys.  Dave's Opinion: David and Star's gang live deliciously, and Michael and Lucy should accept Max's very generous offer.  If you feel differently, please search your heart.  Either way, please check out our episode!     QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What movies force you to root against the heroes? Thanks for listenin...

The Dudes wrap up the summer of sleaze with 1980's Night of the Demon! This "squatchploitation" film follows a group of college students, and many other random idiots,  as they get dismembered, terrorized, and sexually assaulted by the big hairy man himself. It's a wild ride that made the Video Nasties list, and it's definitely more than qualified. Grab a Jack Link's and check it out! QUESTION OF...

The Dudes accompany the amazing Pam Grier in 1974's Foxy Brown.  This iconic and stylish film continues to be stolen from over 50 years later, and it'll continue to influence filmmakers and appeal to every subsequent generation.  Both timely but somehow also timeless, it's themes of Social Justice are also still very relevant today.  And Pam Grier rules.   QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are the most b...

The Dudes have a boring adventure with 1984's The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak! That's right, Tawny Kitaen naked for half the film and it's still boring as sin! But at least there are multiple people killed with a grappling hook. Don’t watch it with your parents. Heck, don't watch it with anyone! QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are some movies shot where you grew up? Thanks for liste...

The Dudes investigate a mass murder at a golf course with 1984's Ninja III : The Domination, a Cannon feature that has almost, (we said almost), everything you'd expect from a Cannon feature.  But even without one important thing, the first 20 minutes is one of the best action sequences you'll ever see, and maybe you'll even want a V8 later.      QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are some movies shot whe...

The Dudes kick off Summer of Sleaze with 1987's Hard Ticket to Hawaii! Gratuitous nudity, culturally insensitive karate, and hammer space explosions fill the runtime of this sexy spy adventure. It's trashy, incoherent, and awesome. Oh, and there's a deadly super snake. Don't ask why.   QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are the funniest movie death scenes? Thanks for listening! If you want more Dudes on M...

The Dudes go on a 70 minute rant about Silicon Valley shitheads with 2010's The Social Network.  This movie and the book it's based on knew almost 20 years ago what a sack Mark Zuckerberg was, and the passage of time keeps proving it even more correct.  Hopefully we can at least make you laugh a couple times in between the outrage.     QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are the best movies about terrible...

The Dudes win a set of steak knives in 1992's Glengarry Glen Ross. This film adaptation of the David Mamet stage play not only showcases what was great about it, but even makes it better. The acting is phenomenal from a stacked award-winning cast, and the themes of the film still ring true today. It's a must watch. QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Who are your favorite pathetic movie characters? Thanks for l...

The Dudes are out of their jurisdiction in 1984's Beverly Hills Cop! This action comedy proved Eddie Murphy had what it takes to be the leading man, and is just an overall excellent cop movie. It's exciting, funny, and grittier than you'd expect, so make sure you rewatch it again soon.  QUESTION OF THE WEEK: What are the funniest movies involving the police? Thanks for listening! * Please forgive the echoes in Dave's unfinished concrete basement.  We'll get this issue sorted out soon, Scout's Honor! * The Dudes conclude Pride 2026 with 1970's The Boys in the Band.  William Friedkin's film adaptation of Mart Crowley's play is rough on its characters, and by the end, you might feel worn out.  But the journey is worth it for many reasons, and you'll want to rewatch this impor...
