Each time in my life, before the Lord started to use me in any way that mattered, I first went through a humbling season to prepare me for it. It was always voluntary, and each time I was given the opportunity to humble myself but never forced to obey. The task usually came as a choice, where I could choose to humbly serve others in some way or to leave feeling like they didn't know how important...

Jesus called the most religious people of His day whitewashed tombs who were clean on the outside, but dead on the inside. The LORD sees the things we try to hide and who we really are. He is not polite about sin, and He doesn't need more cheerleaders who stand on the sidelines looking pretty, and shouting all the right things, but aren't even in the game. He wants people who actually do what He s...

If Moses had gotten his way, he would have probably died a simple shepherd at Mount Horeb. But God had other plans for him, and Moses soon became the most powerful person living on Earth. If you have ever felt like your life was going nowhere, read today's message for a word of hope!

When we are prideful, arrogant, and haughty, we are our own god, and there is no room for another. But humility will keep you from two of the enemy's hidden traps. For wisdom on this subject, read today's message!

Hope can be defined as expectation, trust, and confidence. Knowing that something good is coming your way. Fear can be defined as anxiety, apprehension, or dread. Knowing that something terrible is coming your way. Both are invisible, and it takes just as much faith and energy to believe in one as it does the other. If you have been worried or afraid about your future, read today's message for a w...

There is not another person on the earth just like you. Your DNA, tongue, eyes, and fingerprints are all unique. God created you just the way you are. And if you became anyone else, then there would no longer be you. Listen to the message today for a word of hope!

Willful sin will always be a barrier to intimate fellowship with God, or satan and God would still be friends. But nothing you have ever done can separate you from God once you ask Him for forgiveness. It is so easy. Listen to the message today for a word of hope!

We often try to work things out in our minds based on our reasoning and resources. We can only see things from our limited point of view and what we can accomplish by using our strengths and abilities. In that light, many things would be impossible for us. We need God's thoughts to become our own, which only happens when we listen to Him. Listen to the message today for a word of hope!

There are seasons when you have prayed everything you know to pray, done everything you know to do, and you are still sinking. The Apostle Paul said when you have done all, to stand. This week at Refreshing Hope, we are talking about what it looks like to hold the line when your strength is gone, and why being connected to the body of Christ may be the reason you make it through. Listen to the mes...

Talk is cheap, and your actions speak louder than your words. The fruit you produce in your life tells God all He needs to know. Let your life reflect God living in you instead of the other thing. Let us be more like the One we serve. Let us be more like Jesus in our actions and not just in our words today. Listen to the message today for a word of hope!

We often get caught up in the day's hustle and bustle and slowly fall apart under stress. Yet, if we can get alone and spend some time in prayer, those things will fix themselves and begin to fall into place. God will help us take care of it, but we still need to ask Him. James said we have not because we ask not (James 4:2). When we don't know what to do about our lives, our loved ones, or our jo...

David protected his dad's sheep when he was little, then God's sheep when he was grown. He used the sling that he practiced with while tending sheep to kill the giant Goliath. He used his musical skills to play soothing music for the king. God will use the trivial things that you learn along the way to prepare you for something bigger. No matter how humble or lowly your position, God has a plan fo...

Though you may feel small and insignificant, there is more to the story. The Awesome God Almighty that made the stars calls us by name, and He knows how many hairs are on our heads. Listen to the message today for a word of hope!

Everyone around Isaac was heading to Egypt, but God told him to stay and plant in dry ground during a famine, and he reaped a hundredfold return. The same God who fed a widow's household for three years from a nearly empty jar, and fed thousands of people from one boy's lunch, is still in the multiplication business. God's laws are like the law of gravity. They work invisibly and silently and affect everyone. When we judge others or look down on their circumstances, we open the door for the same thing to happen to our family and us. Listen to the message today for a word of hope!

Your attitude at work directly reflects on the God you serve. You can thrive wherever you are and whatever you are doing. Joseph prospered while he was a slave. Then he flourished while in prison. Then he was a great success at ruling Egypt. If God puts you there, work hard, and keep a positive attitude. It will lead to your promotion or something better. We are often looking for the supernatural, but His message comes to us in such a natural way that we can miss it. Instead of hearing a booming voice from heaven, it may come through the words of a mentor or a friend. Maybe something they once told us in the past. A song we have heard comes to our mind, and the words now have a new meaning. That is the whisper of the Holy Spirit. For wisdom on hear...

I ran from God, evading Him for years, or so I thought. In time, He caught up with me. If you or your loved ones are running from the Lord, Listen to the message today for a word of hope!
