Curious Brainfarts
The place where two ordinary people talk about things people are curious about. We're not taking ourselves too seriously, and we certainly don't have all the answers. We're offering a light-hearted space to think about some stuff differently. We discuss the topics off the cuff based on how the theme strikes us in the moment! It's risky, we keep in the bloopers, and it keeps us on our toes. You can get involved by dropping us suggestions at curiousbrainfarts@gmail.com. Episodes are dropping weekly.

Comfort Zone(s) 07.08.2025 31:56
We say farewell to Eddie on this his last appearance for this mini-series, and in doing so we end up slip, sliding our way to the topic of Comfort Zone(s). What keeps us there? Why are they so hard to leave? What can we do about them? What's our experience of exploring beyond them. If you'd like to get involved, drop us an email to curiousbrainfarts@gmail.com
Beans 31.07.2025 39:46
You heard it here first.... beans are broad church and our topic for today. It was kindly brought to you by Eddie, one of our super fans (OMG guys, stop it!!), so join him for chapter 2 of 3 in this mini series. Turns out Eddie doesn't like beans, or does he?! It's not as clear cut as he first thought and we're curious to know if he did indeed take a lathe with him on holiday... If you...
Privilege 24.07.2025 35:42
Welcome to the last in the Superfan Mini Series before the summer break! This week we explore the very curious topic of Privilege and get under the skin of it with Edward Tebble . Anxiety & Worry 17.07.2025 49:42
Tune in for Cien's last appearance in this Super Fan Mini Series - let's call it the SFMS for short, it makes total sense. Anyway, this week we're getting curious about Anxiety and Worry along with what else shows up. Interestingly, when you're anxious do you worry too? If you'd like to suggest a topic for the show, send us an email to curiousbrainfarts@gmail.com
Brand, Character, Persona 10.07.2025 34:36
Cien (pronounced Shen), our Super Fan Mini-Series guest, came up with a belter of a topic. It's definitely something that has a lot of publicity at the moment with the impact of social media. We also take an analogue look at the topic looking through many different lenses. If you want to get involved, drop us an email to curiousbrainfarts@gmail.com.
Drama Triangle 26.06.2025 45:22
**SUPERFAN MINI SERIES** We welcome the wonderful Cien to the pod this week as part of our Superfan Series. And we start with a boatload of drama. Drama, drama, drama. We explore the Drama Triangle, a dynamic that is present in our culture, our workplaces, our families, our relationships and ultimately within ourselves. There is huge power in tuning into how this dynamic shows up in our lives, and...
Pressure 19.06.2025 35:31
Pressure is something we all feel, and too much pressure doesn't end well, with stress and anxiety at the end of that road. We muse about where pressure comes from, and how much choice we have about the pressure we put on ourselves and allow others or situations to place on us. If there's something you're curious about get in touch with us curiousbrainfarts@gmail.com
No! 05.06.2025 35:17
Computer says No! It's something we fear because of rejection. Gaaahhhh! Does someone saying no to me mean that I'm a defective person? Well, logically it doesn't, however it can cut us to the quick at times. We experiment with a re-frame of no as the gateway to yes enables it to be welcomed rather than avoided. We also sing. Apologies for that. Saying no to others is, it turns out, just as tricky...
Etymology 29.05.2025 38:46
Straight from the horse's mouth, we swing cats, pull your leg and sleep tight. Fascinating to look at the origin of words and phrases, a real glimpse into history. Language is always moving, although there's no guarantee we are able to keep up! We get ourselves in a right pickle trying to understand how to speak eggy peggy language. Not as easy as it sounds! If you've got something you...
Sarcasm 22.05.2025 36:03
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. Is that fair, or does that give sarcasm a bad rep? Having given it some thought, we are here to say that the mocking and diminishing nature of sarcasm makes it problematic. It can be funny if someone directs it at themselves in a self deprecating way, but generally we think it's a defence mechanism and an expression of unmet needs. Hmm, things have taken a sl...
Humility 15.05.2025 25:04
This week we are chowing down on some humble pie as we consider all things humility. This inner state that is authentic, clear and grounded. Not needing validation or an ego stroke. Not humble bragging, or self deprecating. Why? Because you know you are enough, just as you are. Not perfect, but honest and clear. Sounds great doesn't it? Here's to authentic humility.
Communication 08.05.2025 34:16
We do this a lot. All the time. There are so many ways of communicating, but we don't seem to have become more skilled at it. This is a deep one, lots of layers. Culture, language, context, intent, verbal, non-verbal, silence, energy. Everything is a communication of some sort or another. In the end, if we listen with our heart not just our ears, things will probably be a lot better! If you...
Alignment 01.05.2025 33:21
Turns out alignment is more than just the wheels of your car. And it shouldn't be taken for granted. Alignment at one moment in time isn't a guarantee that it'll stay that way. Checking the alignment, paying it some attention and giving it some focus is vital. Otherwise a surprise (and not all unexpected outcomes are brilliant) is absolutely in the post. Lou gives us a veg update befor...
Holidays 24.04.2025 37:22
Whether you like going abroad, staying at home, seeing the sights or relaxing to the max, there are as many ways of going on holiday as there are people. We agreed that for us, it's about who you're with. If that's right, you could be having fish and chips in the rain with a leaky tent and it wouldn't matter. Where would you love to go? What experiences do you want to have? Also ic...
Camping 17.04.2025 40:34
After some faffing with the RTG, and finding out Alex's pin number, it spat out Camping. Turns out we had a fair bit to say about it #You'reWelcome Anyhew, what would an episode about camping be if it wasn't for some jolly tales of yaw and yonder. We've absolutely loved having Alex come along and joining in with the randomness. Let us know if you'd like to hear more from him! If you'd like to get...
Money 10.04.2025 29:17
Welcome to the first episode in our Superfan Series, featuring the fragrant and absolutely delightful Alex Stillman. We felt it was time to add some additional brainfarts from our lush audience, so we hope you enjoy. Money. A necessary evil or freedom? A form of energy that you can magnetise? The root of all evil? Well it turns out there are lots of perspectives on money, and that it has been arou...
Triggers 03.04.2025 38:25
TRIGGER WARNING! Here we chat about triggers, what they are, how they get activated, and crucially how to cope when that happens. It's not easy, and all triggers are rooted in our past experience. Get in touch with us if you'd like to suggest a topic for us to get curious about: curiousbrainfarts@gmail.com
Vulnerability 03.04.2025 30:25
Vulnerability. Our soft underbelly. We talk about whether this is at the heart of human connection and why. The cultural landscape that tells us it's dangerous and weak and leaves you exposed. There's a lot going on. Let us know what you think, and any topic you want us to chat about by getting in touch curiousbrainfarts@gmail.com
Debating 20.03.2025 37:42
The debate we had about debating is, without fear of contradiction, an absolute cracker. From very structured debates with rules, opposing sides and persuasive rhetoric, to the rather less structured internal free for all that sometimes represents our inner debate club. We talk about it all, so if you're curious about a debate that isn't polarising and doesn't need you to do anything other than li...
Reading 13.03.2025 37:03
Of course we're on about the largest town in England with a thriving shopping centre, many pubs and canal running through it. Or are we.....? After doing some reading on Reading we realised that what we read was not so much about reading as it was Reading so we moved swiftly on! Read with your ears as you tuck into this wondering conversation, covering many bases, about reading. Before you lis...
Coaching 06.03.2025 38:27
This was almost like being given a week off by the RTG as we absolutely LOVE coaching. We had a look at the wildly different definitions and noticed that what we're about doesn't fit into that definition. There's some interesting questions like: "how helpful is the term coaching?". Let us know what you think. What's your experience of coaching, and more so non-directive c...
Say-Do Gaps 27.02.2025 39:43
Say-do gaps are a beautiful leveller as we've all got them because they're part of our shared human experience. With that being said, we needn't shy away from them because what is in the gap has the power to unlock transformational growth and success. The trick we've noticed is finding which ones to close as unless you plan on being perfect, you'll never close them all. If you...
Culture 20.02.2025 38:48
In this episode, we decide to focus very much on our strengths and so you'll hear a lot about art history, biological lab techniques and possibly something about social groups. Needless to say this is a fascinating subject, and it turns out that Boy George was onto something :-) If you'd like to get involved, drop us an email to curiousbrainfarts@gmail.com
Confidence 13.02.2025 35:08
Um, well, this, er, episode was a bit of a tricky one to, er, get into really. Unsurprisingly there are lots of definitions of "confidence" and we knocked around a few of them. The one that felt most relevant to us will be revealed in this episode. Now, the key thing is to remember how to get involved with the podcast. You simply have to send us an email to www.curiousbrainfarts.com@gmai...
Lies 06.02.2025 35:30
There's all sorts of lies, and it's something that literally everyone has done at some point! Paul and Lou are interrupted, by a now familiar character, with this interesting topic. What do you think about lies? How do they show up in your world? If you want to get involved, drop us an email to curiousbrainfarts@gmail.com
