Clear Tinted Classics

Jake needed a filler episode, so he did this indulgent revision of an old Youtube video. Enjoy?

Guys, the final installment of the Three Colors trilogy, Red! Is this the best of the trilogy? Does it tie everything together? Can it be described in a podcast episode summary? No to the last one, but come find the answers to the other questions.

It might not be a true classic, but it certainly counts as a cult classic. Jake is joined by the guys from the Anti Movie Movie Club to talk about Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward being totally not lovers and fighting off... worms? Come check it out!

Jake stretches the definition of classic with his buddy Espy as they cover this movie that seems like it should just be a standard police movie, but has a lot more going on underneath its skin. Also anything Denis Villeneuve makes counts, so there.

You had to have seen it coming, Jake tackles the second movie in the Three Colors Trilogy, White. Where does it stand compared to Blue, is that even a fair comparison, and is it funny? Come find out.

Jake is joined by Taylor once again, this time to chat about the beloved comedy classic, Young Frankenstein... er, or is that Fronkensteen? The episode devolves into silly madness, but would you have it any other way?

Jake is joined by the host of the podcast Brews and Views, Juan Cordero Jr., to finally discuss this all-time gangster classic. It's Scorsese doing mobsters, what else is there to say?

It's a solo episode! Jake takes on the first film of a beloved French trilogy. Grief, sex clubs, and baby mice, there's a lot to talk about, and Jake has about an hour to do it!

Jake is joined by Jancy to talk about this anime thriller that will make you rethink everything you know about anime, and yourself. The first, but certainly not the last Satoshi Kon movie to appear on the pod!

Jake is joined by a guest all the way from Australia this week, Svetlana Sterlin! They talk about her burgeoning writing career, and then attempt to understand a movie that defies a full understanding, David Lynch's possibly crowning achievement, a trippy breakup movie.

I'm calling these minisodes now. I talk about the future of the podcast and rank all of Yorgos Lanthimos' films. My next episode will be on: Mulholland Drive, with guest Svetlana Sterlin.

Jake is joined by Zach and Joey in what will be the first part of an ongoing series taking on ALL of the Indiana Jones movies. Is this the best one? That's for future episodes to know, but come listen to these boys get introduced to the pod while we talk about Nazi monkeys, how they handled Marion, and Jake wimping out big time about snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?

Raiders of the Lost Ark is next! It's gonna be good. Also, weeb out with anime recs this episode!

Jake takes on the Piano Teacher, from notorious director Michael Haneke. How does this depressing... love? story hold up? Find out by listening.

The next episode is just Jake talking about The Piano Teacher from 2001. He would recommend checking it out if you like the darker stuff. But as a bonus, he is throwing in his ranking of every Tarantino movie! Yay, finally the filler episodes have some content!

Jake is joined by guest Brittnie to talk about this classic 90s ode to women's baseball, Tom Hanks being an asshole, and Madonna making you cry.

Next week's episode is going to be A League of Their Own! I'm joined by my friend Brittnie a.k.a. Motoruxin to talk about this ode to women's baseball and Tom Hank's being an asshole. Hope you are as excited as I am!

Jake randomly watched this neo-noir from the 70's starring Jane Fonda and now you get to hear about it!

The one you all have been waiting for, Klute!

Jake talks about the super popular movie Birth, from 2004, starring Nicole Kidman. Everybody remembers this one right? Where she was maybe going to have sex with a kid? Anyway, check it out!

I'm doing the movie Birth from 2004 starring Nicole Kidman next. It's pretty wild, hope you check it out.!

Jake is joined by previous guest Neal, and new guest Lucas to chat about this sci-fi classic. One guest says the film is one of his favorites of all time, one says it is massively overrated. What will happen?

Next week's episode will be Blade Runner, with Neal Lewis and Lucas Gerke!

Jake is alone and talking about one of his favorite Luc Besson movies. Is it kind of cheating? Idk, check it out.

Announcement for next week's episode, Leon the Professional. Watch the extended cut! Also, do you want me to talk about more stuff in the in-between weeks? Tell me, I'm at jakebakersan on Twitter.
