Colossians 3:20-21 - Children & Fathers 01.11.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ A Christian with a resurrection mindset is a Christian that tends to his or her business according to the station that God has given: husbands, wives, children, fathers, bondservants, masters. In this passage Paul commands children to obey their parents, and forbids fathers to provoke their children. A household that is transformed by the gospel is one that is marked by love and b...

Colossians 3:18-19 - Husbands & Wives 25.10.2026

Blaze Culliton \\ After explaining the new identity in Christ for all believers in putting off the old self and putting on the new, the Apostle Paul provides commands to the specific roles of wives and husbands. These commands are rooted in God’s design of man and woman and living out the one anothers of scripture in practical, personal relationships.

Colossians 3:1-17 - Put Off, Put On: Part 2 18.10.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Once Paul has described the earthly things that are incompatible with their new life in Christ and has prescribed putting them to death, he tells them what the Christian life now ought to look like. What is the business of the Christian? To imitate Christ in all our dealings with one another with hearts of gratitude.

Colossians 3:1-17 - Put Off, Put On: Part 1 11.10.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ In the Christian life, our newfound identity in Christ is not immediately accompanied by actions and attitudes that are perfectly consistent. Old habits die hard. We are learning to live as those who have been raised with Christ. And that includes putting sin to death, killing what is earthly us, not only as individuals, but we wage war against sin as fellow Christians.

Colossians 3:1-4 - Raised with Christ 04.10.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Those who are in Christ have been raised with Christ. We don't need to seek to finish the work that's already been done; that's what false teachers want to convince the Colossians of. Christ's work is finished and it's all freely given to us, and since that's the case, we seek to live as those whose life is Christ by living in Christ and as Christ lived.

Colossians 2:16-23 - Subtraction by Addition 27.09.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ After instructing the Colossians to walk in Christ, Paul goes into greater detail regarding his warning of empty and deceptive philosophy. The Colossians need to avoid worldviews that try to mix pagan or Jewish practices with the gospel message. Those practices are shadows, Christ is the substance.

Colossians 2:13-15 - Triumphing in Him 20.09.2026

John Baumgartner \\ Paul proclaims Christ to the Colossians and wants them to walk in Christ and discern empty and deceitful worldviews through Christ. They are no longer subject to such things. They have been raised from the dead, forgiven completely, and freed fully from their past masters. God triumphs over all rivals through the cross of Christ.

Colossians 2:6-12 - Filled with His Fullness 13.09.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Paul proclaims Christ to the Colossians and wants them to walk in Christ and discern empty and deceitful worldviews through Christ. How is this possible? By being filled with the fullness of Christ to the point of satisfaction. When filled with Christ's fullness, when fully satisfied in Him, we overflow with gratitude.

Colossians 1:24-2:5 - Him We Proclaim: Part 3 08.09.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Paul suffers and struggles to bring the gospel message to the Colossians and many others. He knows that there are threats out there, but the message of the gospel has immense value and he is willing to risk his life to get it to the churches. It is Christ that Paul proclaims, nothing else. Through the proclamation of Christ, the Christian is warned and taught; he or she is moved t...

Colossians 1:24-2:5 - Him We Proclaim: Part 2 30.08.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Paul bookends this passage with rejoicing. First, he rejoices in his suffering. Through suffering he participates with Christ in the building up of the church. And secondly, Paul rejoices in the good order and firm faith the Colossians have in Christ. Here Paul sees Himself as a military general, pleased with how well this outpost of the gospel is doing. But the enemy is on the ho...

Colossians 1:24-2:5 - Him We Proclaim: Part 1 24.08.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Paul bookends this passage with rejoicing. First, he rejoices in his suffering. Through suffering he participates with Christ in the building up of the church. And secondly, Paul rejoices in the good order and firm faith the Colossians have in Christ. Here Paul sees Himself as a military general, pleased with how well this outpost of the gospel is doing. But the enemy is on the ho...

Colossians 1:21-23 - Into Alignment 16.08.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Paul moves from telling us who Jesus is in verses 15-20 to what Jesus has done in 21-23. Jesus' death had the effect of reconciling us to God. Before Christ, we were out of alignment with God in our status, attitudes, and actions. But Christ's death makes us holy, blameless, and above reproach.

Colossians 1:19-20 - In Him & Through Him 11.08.2026

Blaze Culliton \\ As the Apostle Paul explains the attributes of the beloved Son and laying out the supremacy - or preeminence - of Jesus Christ, He explains two foundational elements of the Christian faith. The divine nature, or deity, of Jesus and the reconciliation from sin and death that occurs through Him by the blood of the cross. His deity - which is in Him - allows for reconciliation throu...

Colossians 1:18 - Nourished and Cherished 02.08.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Jesus came into the world to redeem a people for Himself, the church. Those who are part of the kingdom of the beloved Son belong to that body and are, as living stones, built up in it through Jesus, the head, who nourishes and cherishes it. The love that Jesus has for His body extends even beyond the grave, securing it for eternity.

Colossians 1:15-17 - Made Known 26.07.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Paul goes on to give more detail about the beloved Son who delivered us from the domain of darkness and into His kingdom. That which is invisible is now seen; Jesus images the Father. And He is the agent of creation, the very power that stands behind it. Not only does He create, He sustains, holding all things together.

Colossians 1:13-14 - Qualified 19.07.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Who is qualified to receive an inheritance? The one who has been delivered from the domain of darkness, a place of cloudy, chaotic slavery, and transferred into the kingdom of the beloved Son, a place of clear, ordered sonship. The payment of our debt is how the transfer occurs. And this was all accomplished at the cross.

Colossians 1:10b-12 - Walk this Way 12.07.2026

John Baumgartner \\ Paul continues his prayer for the Colossians, asking God for the very things that are fully pleasing to Him to be manifest in their lives: good works, knowing God, joyful endurance, and gratitude.

Colossians 1:9-10a - A Discernable Direction 06.07.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Now that Paul has expressed the thanks he gives to God for the faith and love of the Colossians, he states how his prayers also present a request to God. Paul desires that the Colossians keep going on the road they have started down; that they would continue to discern their direction according to the truth.

Colossians 1:5b-8 - The Gracious Effect of the Gospel: Love 28.06.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ When the gospel is heard and received it produces fruit and that fruit increases. All of this is grace: hearing, receiving, producing, and increasing. God uses human agents to deliver the gospel who also bear witness to its effect: love.

Colossians 1:1-5a - Greetings and Gratitude 22.06.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Paul begins his letter to the Colossians with a traditional greeting and expresses gratitude for the church. Paul – who was imprisoned in Rome when he wrote this letter – had never visited the church in Colossae, but he wanted to send encouragement to them after receiving a report from Epaphras about potentially problematic teaching that threatened the church. The gratitude Paul c...

Esther 9:16-10:3 – Sorrow into Gladness 15.06.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Now delivered from their enemies, the Jews set aside two days for celebration known as the feast of Purim. Not even the acts that are seemingly the most random are outside of God's control; those who seek supernatural guidance against God's people are foiled. Fully free of the enemy's plot against us, we are to remember all God's wonderful works.

Esther 8:1-9:15 - More than Conquerors 07.06.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Once Haman is exposed and executed, the king gives Mordecai his signet ring and tells him to write a new edict in the king's name. The Jews are allowed to defend themselves against the original edict established by Haman. In this way, the Jews were saved from their enemies. The new edict did not revoke the first, but established conditions that made it possible for God's people to...

Esther 6:14-7:10 - Cursed is Everyone Who is Hanged on a Tree 31.05.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Esther, having garnered favor with the king, reveals Haman's wicked manipulation of the king. Haman begs the queen to speak on his behalf, but compromises himself further in the process. The man who sought to destroy God's people is himself condemned and is executed in the very manner that he sought to end Mordecai.

Esther 5:9-6:13 - God Opposes the Proud, but Gives Grace to the Humble 24.05.2026

John Baumgartner \\ Evil is at work in the world. Haman is growing more and more in favor with the king, and he has plans to kill Mordecai in a most public and painful way. But God is at work for good, turning all the evil devices of Haman into deliverance for His people. “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Haman’s pride comes before his destruction. In humility, Mordecai trust...

Esther 4:1-5:8 - The Threat Looms: Obedient, Wise, Purposeful Responses 17.05.2026

Caleb Drahosh \\ Haman's plot goes public and when it reaches Mordecai and Esther they are deeply distressed. According to the law, no one could come before the king without being summoned. The punishment for doing so was death. Mordecai appeals to Esther to make an attempt on behalf of the Jews. If the king looks upon her request with favor, they will be saved. If not, she and all her people are...
