Well, we're not quite in the pits over THE CREATURE FROM THE PIT. There were a few things we enjoyed about this 4th Doctor story, but overall the adventure fell a little flat with us, especially being the story that comes on the heels of the amazing City of Death. But, as always, we persevere and find the good within the not so good and let those bits shine for everyone. Join us as we open trade n...

We're back in bonkers territory this week with possibly the most 70s episode we've ever reviewed! THE CLAWS OF AXOS starts as a typical aliens-land-on-earth-to-recharge-their-batteries story and quickly evolves into an attempt by The Master to get his TARDIS back by serving up the planet to a race of golden-haired shapeshifters bent on consuming the Earth. Some of the most LSD-inspired psychedelic...

THE WAR GAMES comes to an end! This week we reviewed the final four episodes of The War Games and the action ramps back up (and gets pretty crazy toward the end) as the War Lord arrives to find infighting between the Security Chief and the War Chief. The Doctor, his crew, and the resistance add to the mix! But, when all is said and done, The Doctor's only choice is to call in the Time Lords and Wh...

The War Games marches onward! This week we review Episodes 4 through 6 of this epic final Patrick Troughton story! Does the pace of the first three episodes continue? Well, give a listen to get our thoughts. But we also have some amazing new from Big Finish to share that we're almost more excited about than The War Games. Join us for a romp through Central Command...be sure to grab your Devo-esque...

Friends, listeners, we have reason to celebrate! Podcastica has reached episode 200!! And what better way to honor this blockbuster number than by reviewing an absolute blockbuster of a story! We're spending this episode and the next two reviewing THE WAR GAMES! The final Patrick Troughton story is a sprawling, ambitious story with great pacing and scope. And it does a great service in pushing the...

We are on the cusp of Episode 200! But first, we finish reviewing the debut of THE DALEKS! In episodes 5-7, The Daleks have the Fluid Link and the Doctor and crew must convince the Thals to fight back, jump across caverns, and deal with the Daleks counting down very slowly in order to save themselves and prevent Skaro from becoming a completely uninhabitable wasteland. Can the bipeds sabotage enou...

The Doctor, Susan, Ian, and Barbara (fresh off their very first adventure together) land on a mysteriously deserted world, but the temptation of exploring a nearby deserted city leads the Doctor to sabotage his own ship and put his friends in jeopardy! As a result, they discover one of the most legendary villains in Doctor Who history! That’s right, Dalekmania begins here! Strap in because the Dal...

The race to 200 begins with THE UNQUIET DEAD! With mere weeks to go until we hit our 200th episode, we review the 9th Doctor story that John would often tell friends "Yeah, you don't have to see this one." Well, he's happy to admit he was wrong. The Doctor and Rose land in Naples...wait, no, sorry...Cardiff...in 1860! Wait...no, sorry...1869! On Christmas eve! At least that part is still correct....

The Doctor and Rose are investigating strange things afoot at a school (near a UFO sighting, no less). New headmaster, new staff, new amazing achievements amongst the student body! And, apparently, a new brand of chips being served in the lunch room. What’s behind all this strangeness? Could it be a certain Watcher from a completely different TV series?! Well, Sarah Jane is on the case and The Doc...

The shiny bois are back in town! This week we return to Modern Who with a review of VICTORY OF THE DALEKS! The Doctor and Amy answer the Call of Churchill only to discover British Military Green Daleks blastin' Nazis outta the skies and serving tea to the locals. But not all is well in the ready room and those Ironsides are playing a loooong con in order to resurrect the Dalek race! Can the Doctor...

Io Kronos! All hail the somewhat owl-shaped demi-god of time!! Yes, it's time to tackle THE TIME MONSTER! This six-parter is a downright wacky romp with questionably named projects, The Master at his best, tools of questionable shape, Atlantis (!), UNIT, Bessie's Super Drive, slow motion effects, and Season 9 ends with a naked Sgt. Benton! And that, seriously, is just the tip of the iceberg that i...

This week, we round out Season 20 with THE KING'S DEMONS! A quick two-parter that doesn't feel all that quick. We have 13th century England, sword fighting, The Master in disguise, an original song, and a shape-shifting android! Sounds like a total recipe for success, right? Well, you'll have to listen to the episode to get the deep and dirty on our feelings for how Doctor Who wrapped this anniver...

This week The Black Guardian Trilogy concludes with ENLIGHTENMENT! The Doctor, Tegan, and Turlough land on what appears to be an Edwardian era ship. Well, it is...but it’s in space. You know, as you do. Our team finds themselves as part of a race between a bunch of Eternals who’re cosplaying as sea-going types and borrowing humans from throughout time in order to achieve Enlightenment! But who set...

This is it, folks...we've reached TERMINUS. Not the end of the podcast, no that's not for quite some time. Just the 5th Doctor episode that sees the departure of Nyssa, the continued whining of Tegan and Turlough, and the appearance of the cryptid Dogman...well, it's called The Garm here. This week we take a look at this story along with an absolute tonne of Big Finish news and some really rather...

The Doctor and Romana find themselves, inadvertently, on Skaro centuries after he was last there (insert cross-reference to Genesis of the Daleks here). Both the Daleks and the Movellans (who appear to have escaped from a Buggles music video) are trying to find a very cobweb covered Davros way down in his base. Why are they both trying to find Davros? What can he possibly offer either group? The a...

Hot off the heels of his adventure with his prior two selves, The Doctor (along with Jo) land on the SS Bernice (not Metebelis 3, I promise you) in 1926. Well, sort of. The answer turns out to be far more bizarre as we meet Harry Sullivan’s doppelganger, some Drashigs, journey to the center of the miniscope, and get taken for a ride on the Carnival of Monsters! Join John and Taylor as they review...

This week we're joined by Justin Quizon to watch THE ENEMY OF THE WORLD! And we were all blown away by the scope and execution of this amazing adventure! The Doctor, Jamie, and Victoria land in Australia, 2018 where Ramon Salamander is slowly but surely taking control of the world. It just so happens that The Doctor looks exactly like Salamander and what follows is a globe-spanning adventure of in...

Well, they can't all be zingers. And Vengeance on Varos is no zinger. As a dark, bleak, dystopian adventure, this story falls a little flat and relies on a bit of handwavium at times. There are still, however, some prescient takes on culture, decent effects, and Sil. He really steals the show! This week, we close out the 6th Doctor's televised adventures with Vengeance on Varos!

Call it serendipity or synchronicity, but on the anniversary of the passing of Liz Sladen, we just happened to choose to review THE TIME WARRIOR which saw (among many things) the introduction of Sarah Jane Smith! We dive into this story and really enjoyed the rollicking adventure that it provides! Grab your tights and a flagon of mead and let's talk about The Time Warrior!!

LIIIIGHT! Yes, this week we review the final 7th Doctor story (that we haven't reviewed yet) with Ghost Light! They certainly tried to pack a ton into a three-episode story. It comes off as a rather bonkers story that's mostly mystery for an episode and a half and then goes properly off the rails as an alien entity grapples with something every Doctor Who fan has to accept: change. And not a momen...

Last week, John said he needed some 7th Doctor in his life and PARADISE TOWERS is just what the Doctor ordered! We sit down and review what starts as a rather bonkers little story that definitely has some dark turns within! Cannibal grannies, anyone? Not to mention some absolute bangers (literally!) from Pex! So grab a can of fizzy pop, throw on your favorite color (only if it's blue or red), and...

This was undoubtedly the story in which Barbara encapsulated all of Doctor Who for all time: "All the Doors and Corridors are Exactly Alike." Indeed they do! But this week John & Taylor took a tour of THE SPACE MUSEUM! They were impressed by its high concept and how the story kept you guessing well into Act 4 if our TARDIS crew were changing history or stuck being part of it. Join us as we grab a...

Sorry, Marvel fans, THE FIVE DOCTORS is the most ambitious crossover of all time. It just is. The sheer number of characters and cameos in this story (that doesn't even belong to a season! It's a Children in Need special!) boggles the mind! This week, John & Taylor delightfully devoured The Five Doctors and were in awe of its scope and what it did to expand Doctor Who lore/canon! Not to mention al...

Are you self-isolating comfortably? Then we'll begin. Yes, it's our first episode in what feels like two years (but has only been two weeks). We spend the first part of the episode catching up and looking at our new reality (probably more episodes!) and the dive into the debut of Leela and the fantastic story THE FACE OF EVIL! Join us, please! Share us with friends (at a safe distance, of course)...

There we go, there's season 12 of Doctor Who. And what an ending we had! Regardless of how you (or fandom) felt about it, there's no denying that there have been some amazing changes, a whole lot more back story over which to mull, and LOTS and LOTS more questions! John & Taylor dive through the boundary and into The Timeless Children. What worked, what left us scratching heads, and what do we mak...
