Words About Books

This week nobody asked for this. Ben didn't. Nate didn't. The fans didn't. But yet here we are because SOMEBODY didn't write a book that would take 2 parts despite being 400+ pages. Blame that guy. This week Nate tackles something very near and dear to his heart: Mass Effect. Also Shamus Young, a writer who had tragically passed away just a few short years ago. Ben is also here. Sometimes. He's around here. Occasionally he has some good observations that are born out of Nate failing to properly get his point across or describe Shamus Young's writing concepts and then he has to go b...

This week we discuss a book that Nate struggles to get right and struggles to remember the fine detail of. Ben does a lot of heavy lifting. A dog not named Scooby Doo uses Scooby-Doo-like tactics to murder some men. Will Sherlock save the day? Yes. This week Nate did research into WW2 and because of that, you have to also hear about it. Suck it Ben. Nate read: Stalin: Waiting for Hitler by Stephen Kotkin Then Nate watched a bunch of videos: Battlefield (an oldie but a goodie. Just all of them but specifically the Battle for Russia, the Battle for France, Midway, Stalingrad, and Kursk) Soviet Storm: World War II in the East (which isn't...

It's finally here. Nate reluctantly is forced to read a book he knew he wouldn't like going in. Uno Reverse! Nate is going to make his pain at reading this book into Ben's pain at listening to him discuss it. Prepare for Xanax Ben and Overstimulated Nate. The ultimate WAB Duo. Will anybody survive? This one went off the rails immediately. Nate is obsessed with Rhys's length and Ben keeps thinking about different ways to use ash wood to kill the fey. It takes us about 30 minutes to get to the point where they actually talk about the story. I'll be honest, I wouldn't recommend this episode. Tune in next week when they maybe have their stuff together. But if you've read this...

This week we tackle a current topic... well from like 2 months ago when we put it up on the patreon to be voted on. I don't think anyone is talking about the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake anymore so we're a little late to the party. That's just the kind of people WAB are. This week Nate talks about one of his favorite TV shows from the late Bush/early Obama years! Burn Notice! The book in question is the first Burn Notice book and it is essentially an episode of the show but with some added confusion where Nate maybe understood the major details but not so much the connective tissue. The title says it all. What more can we say? We wrap up this terrible book about forgiving your abusers because, hey, they're people too. Will Vivi finally apologize? No. We already spoiled that. Today the boys discuss one of the worst things we've ever had the displeasure of reading. We didin't go in thinking we'd like it. We figured it would be something that just wasn't for us and we could understand (maybe) why others liked it even if it wasn't for us. What we got instead? Awful. Absoilutely positively awful. This is the story of an abused child learning that h...
