The Dictionary
I read the English Dictionary in short sections, comment on it, make bad jokes, and sometimes sing little songs. I hope it’s more entertaining than just reading the dictionary alone. It’s an evolving project so the letter ”A” had lower quality, plus less commenting and jokes.

#D38 (decide to decimal) 07.09.2022 23:58
I read from decide to decimal. In America, a "decillion" is a 1 with 33 zeroes behind it but in other areas, it's a 1 with 60 zeroes behind it! Wha?!?! It turns out they use words with the suffix "-ard" between each of our "-ions" so our "Billion" is their "Milliard", then they have "Billion" (our "Trillion"), then "Billiard" (our "Quadrillion"), then "Trillion" (our "Quintillion"), etc. http...
#D37 (decentralisation to decibel) 06.09.2022 21:07
I read from decentralisation to decibel. Bye bye Cerebrum: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decerebration I figured out this “decimeter” thing. A decimeter is 1/10 of a meter, a centimeter is 1/100 of a meter, and a millimeter is 1/1000 of a meter. My brain was multiplying them by ten (millimeter to centimeter to decimeter) but that wasn’t the right way to think about it. OK, I feel better now ...

I read from decanter to decathlon. "A Complicated Song" by "Weird Al" Yankovic: https://youtu.be/iOGXmmLSSdE When I first saw the title to this song I was really hoping it would be some crazy thing with complicated lyrics and music. It's not. But I'm not disappointed with the song! An "are" is 100 square meters (about 1,076 square feet) which is 10m x 10m (about 31 ft x 31 ft). A "hectare"...

#D32 (debt to decadent) 01.09.2022 30:10
I read from debt to decadent. In the episode I said the phrase "latin societies" and I genuinely don't know if that's the proper term so my sincere apologies if that is incorrect. My brain was so flustered about not being able to think of "quinceañera" that I didn't even realized I had said it. The word of the episode is "decadent".
