Mountaintops #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT Mountaintops are wonderful. The air is clear, the view is wide, and for a moment everything feels easy. But nobody builds deep faith on a mountaintop. Faith is built in the valley, where the path is steep, the light is low, and God is the only sure guide. Charles Stanley stated it plainly in Life Principle 29: We learn more in our valley experiences than on our mo...

Three Keys #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT Three Keys: Shut Up, Suit Up, Show Up Scripture: Ecclesiastes 9:10 — "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might." Reflection I heard an octogenarian say there are three keys to life. I've been chewing on them ever since, and I think he's onto something. The first one is shut up. Somebody always has it worse than you, so stop complaining and whining, be...

KEEP #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT Psalm 121:3, "He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber," I remember seeing a photo once of an old stone wall in the English countryside, where the stones weren't held together by mortar, but by the careful, interlocking placement of the rocks themselves. If one stone shifted, the whole section could crumble. It made me t...

Handles for the Heaviness Scripture: Job 5:7 "Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward." Reflection There are some absolute certainties in this life, and one of them is that trials will come. So we need to have some handles to lift the heaviness that comes our way. The Bible says so right up front in the Book of Job. Man that is born of woman is few of days and full of trou...

Stop Negotiating #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God" (Romans 8:14, KJV). Stop Negotiating With the Whisper Charles Stanley Life Principle 22: To walk in the Spirit is to obey the initial promptings of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit rarely repeats Himself. Think about how often this has happened: a name comes to mind in prayer, and you feel the...

Dim #NightLight RTTBROS THE FLICKERING BEAM we all have an old flashlight in the kitchen drawer that’s seen better days. Most of the time it works fine, but every so often, the batteries start to fade. The beam doesn't just go out; it starts to flicker. It gets dim, then bright, then dim again, leaving you squinting in the dark, shaking the thing and hoping for one more good burst of light to get...

The Way #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT "And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left" (Isaiah 30:21). Heaven Will Move Mountains to Show You the Way Principle 10: If necessary, God will move heaven and earth to show us His will. There is a prayer that God never refuses to answer, though He rarely answers it...

The Map's End #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." When the Map Ends, Faith Begins Principle: Active Trust in God’s Sovereignty Have you ever stood at the edge of a decision, map in hand, only to realize the road ends? Dr. Charles Stanley o...

The Power of Little #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT The Power of Little #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT THE POWER OF THE LITTLE THINGS Think about the last time a piece of machinery failed, like a leaky faucet, a car that wouldn't start, or a computer that froze. Most of the time, we look for a "big" problem to solve. We expect a cracked pipe or a blown engine. But more often than not, the culprit is something tiny. A...

The Walk #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT Genesis 5:24 (KJV): And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Many of us remember the movie Forrest Gump, where the main character spends years simply running. He didn't run for a trophy or a title; he just ran because he felt called to move. There is something powerful about the act of putting one foot in front of the other, day after day, until th...

Drowning #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT Drowning in the Deep Psalm 69:16 (KJV): Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. The psalmist's cry for help is a familiar one. He's sinking in the mire, surrounded by enemies, and feels like he's drowning in deep waters (Psalm 69:13-16). It's a picture of being overwhelmed, of feeling like the tro...

Anchored #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT Anchored in the Unshakable Throne "Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:" (Isaiah 46:10, KJV) Principle: God is always in control. Charles Stanley often reminded believers that while our circumstances may shift like desert winds, God’s throne never w...

The Echo #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT Ephesians 4:32 "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." The Echo of Grace There is a phenomenon in nature called an echo, where a sound bounces off a hard surface and returns to the sender. If you shout anger into a canyon, anger is what comes back to you. If you shout love, l...
