Rally Point: The Daily Bible Briefing

2 Corinthians 9   English Standard Version     The Collection for Christians in Jerusalem 9  Now it is superfluous for me to write to you about the ministry for the saints,   2  for I know your readiness, of which I boast about you to the people of Macedonia, saying that Achaia has been ready since last year. And your zeal has stirred up most of them.   3  But I am sending [ a ]  the brothers so t...

Encouragement to Give Generously 8  We want you to know, brothers, [ a ]  about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia,   2  for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.   3  For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own acc...

2 Corinthians 7   English Standard Version     7  Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body [ a ]  and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God. Paul's Joy 2  Make room in your hearts [ b ]  for us. We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have taken advantage of no one.   3  I do not say this to condemn you, for I s...

Bible Verses Used in Podcast — ESV Matthew 3:11 — Baptism with the Holy Spirit Matthew 3:11, ESV "I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." Nomenclature: Matthew 3:11, ESV Acts 1:8 — Power to Witness Acts 1:8, ESV "But you will receive power when the Holy S...

2 Corinthians 4 The Light of the Gospel 4  Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart.   2  But we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.   3  And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled...

2 Corinthians 3   English Standard Version     Ministers of the New Covenant 3  Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or from you?   2  You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our [ a ]  hearts, to be known and read by all.   3  And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with in...

2 Corinthians 2 For I made up my mind not to make another painful visit to you.   2  For if I cause you pain, who is there to make me glad but the one whom I have pained?   3  And I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice, for I felt sure of all of you, that my joy would be the joy of you all.   4  For I wrote to you out of much afflic...

2 Corinthians 1   English Standard Version     Greeting 1  Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God that is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in the whole of Achaia: 2  Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. God of All Comfort 3  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of merci...

The Collection for the Saints 16  Now concerning [ a ]  the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do.   2  On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be no collecting when I come.   3  And when I arrive, I will send those whom you accredit by letter to carry your gift to...

Prophecy and Tongues 14  Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.   2  For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.   3  On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.   4  The one who speaks in a tong...

The Way of Love 13  If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.   2  And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.   3  If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, [ a ]  but have not love, I...

1 Corinthians 12 Spiritual Gifts 12  Now concerning [ a ]  spiritual gifts, [ b ]  brothers, [ c ]  I do not want you to be uninformed.   2  You know that when you were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led.   3  Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says "Jesus is accursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except in the Hol...

1 Corinthians 10   English Standard Version     Warning Against Idolatry 10  For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, [ a ]  that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,   2  and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,   3  and all ate the same spiritual food,   4  and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock t...

1 Corinthians 9   English Standard Version     Paul Surrenders His Rights 9  Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are not you my workmanship in the Lord?   2  If to others I am not an apostle, at least I am to you, for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord. 3  This is my defense to those who would examine me.   4  Do we not have the right to eat and drink?  ...

1 Corinthians 8 Food Offered to Idols 8  Now concerning [ a ]  food offered to idols: we know that "all of us possess knowledge." This "knowledge" puffs up, but love builds up.   2  If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know.   3  But if anyone loves God, he is known by God. [ b ] 4  Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that "an id...

Principles for Marriage 7  Now concerning the matters about which you wrote: "It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman."   2  But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.   3  The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband.   4  For the wife does not have au...
