Great relationships are possible, but they’re not typical. God created and designed relationships for our good, and He provides relational wisdom that’s been proven effective for thousands of years. Our relationships often fail us, however, because we ignore God’s wisdom and allow the world to corrupt what God wants for us. What if we humble ourselves and allow God to lead us as we relate to one a...

Jesus changes everything! He didn’t come to just make life “a little better” for everyone; His life, death, and resurrection turned the world upside down. He wasn’t the Messiah everyone thought He would be, but He was the Messiah everyone needed. He redefined life and shocked the world by doing so. Jesus still expects His church to do the same. His way of life is anything but tame and boring. When...

Jesus promised His followers that He would not abandon them, but that they would be emboldened by the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives. The Bible repeatedly uses “wind” as a metaphor to explain how God’s Spirit operates in the world. Wind is one of the only things we understand as both non-physical and tangible at the same time. We can’t hold the wind, but we don’t doubt its existence. W...

The beginning and end of the book of Revelation is full of encouragement for everyone who follows Jesus. It was first written to Christians suffering at the end of the first century and was meant to give them a competing view of reality. When it looks like evil is winning, never forget Jesus, "the Alpha and the Omega," is on the throne. Lessons in this next series are based on passages f...

The church isn’t a building, a piece of property, or a campus. It isn’t a country club, a social clique, or merely a cultural tradition. The church is a community of people who share God’s heart, a community who loves Jesus and loves like Jesus daily. During our “We are First Church” sermon series, we’ll discuss what it looks like to partner with God’s mission for First Church and unleash a revolu...

For many people, the Christmas story begins in Bethlehem and ends with the wise men. But if that’s all we know about Christmas; we’ve only heard part of the story. Believe it or not, there’s more to the story. There are powerful and life changing details about Christmas that we often skip, and these details cannot only impact how we see the season but how we see life. This Christmas at First Churc...

In late 2021, our First Church family began a two-year journey of courageous Kingdom expansion, which was driven by our sincere desire to impact the 918 and beyond with the life-changing message of Jesus. Join us as we look at and celebrate how God is carrying out His Unstoppable mission at First Church. It’s time to rally because Unstoppable is… UNSTOPPABLE !

The church is God’s instrument to change the world. The missional reach of First Church extends well beyond The 918. It crosses international borders and reaches people in some of the most difficult situations on Earth. On November 26, Beyond Sunday will highlight and celebrate what God is doing through local and global missions partners and the members of First Church.

The story of Elisha reminds us that even though the culture around us is changing, God is still God. Our moment in history is just as much a part of God's plan as any other moment in history. The question is, "Will our generation take what God is asking us to do seriously?" No one stumbles into living the life God wants them to live. We have to choose it. Let's not settle for any...
