David Hathaway

The foundation of our Christian life is Christ Himself and the Word of God. But now Paul says, “Let every man take heed how he builds on that foundation!” What a challenge to leaders and pastors - and today’s influencers! V11, “There is no other foundation can be laid except Jesus Christ” - not some preacher, not Paul, not even David Hathaway! Come on! It has to be Christ who is the foundation on...

Q. Are you opposed to traditional medicine? A. No, I’m not, there are wonderful Christian doctors. If I have a toothache, I go to the dentist; and yes I wear spectacles for my eyes, but I have no eye disease and gradually God has restored my sight – I don’t have bi-focal lenses and the lenses are so weak, the optician says that I can do without altogether. If I have a health problem, yes I visit t...

It does not take enormous faith, but the child-like, seed-like faith of a simple believer to move mountains. I know, because I have commanded ‘mountains’ and seen them move many times! I once listened to criticism and as a result I became so discouraged, I stopped organising big crusades and praying for the sick. Because of that, for some years I saw no-one healed. Even today, after a meeting wher...

We need to be changed and transformed by the Holy Spirit. When I first travelled to Ukraine they used to get their milk delivered not in a carton, but in a large container on the back of a carriage. When the housewives saw the man in the street with the milk, they didn't take the first jug they saw in the kitchen which was half full of dirty water, no, they took out a clean empty jug. It is the sa...

I hear of so many who condemn evangelistic crusades because, of the thousands who come forward in the meetings to repent, not all come to the church and remain believers, many go back into their sin. Jesus’ answer to this was the parable of the sower: some seed fell on good ground, some fell among thorns and were choked by them (Matthew 13:3-9). It is the same with healing, not all will be healed,...

Q. Is my sickness God’s punishment for my sin? Perhaps He is teaching me something? A. If you think like that, you will not be healed. No, just as God forgives sin, instantly, He wants to heal you, NOW! God loves you! When Jesus healed the blind man the religious leaders asked, ‘Who sinned, this man or his parents?’ Jesus said neither! If God were to punish us now for every sin or mistake, then ev...

When you come to Christ, you leave behind worldly things to live in a ‘Christ dimension’ - a dimension so distinct and different from the world we grew up in. That’s why Jesus said you’ve got to be ‘born again’ - come on! You’ve got to die to the old, and, like a new-born, you’ve got to start and learn the basics. That’s why Paul says in v2, “I gave you milk and not meat, because you were not able...

Matthew 8:16-17 tells us that Jesus healed all that were sick, to fulfil that which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet saying, ‘Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.’ So even at the time of the actual ministry of Jesus, the Bible says that Christ’s atonement for our sin is also His atonement for sickness and disease, that the cross He carried was our healing. Why not carry that cross...

Paul had a problem with the church in Corinth. They were still ‘babes in Christ’ - 1 Cor 3.1. Anyone who has been a parent knows the struggle it is to bring children to maturity - to potty-train them, to train them to eat nicely, to share, and everything else…  When you come to Christ, you leave behind worldly things to live in a ‘Christ dimension’ - a dimension so distinct and different from the...

I want to tell you, Jesus commanded us to both preach the Gospel AND heal the sick (Luke 9&10). These two are inseparable. The healing of the sick is the demonstration of the Gospel – see Matthew 9:6 where Jesus said to the onlookers, ‘But that you may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins.’ He said to the sick of the palsy, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk.’ Q. Isn’t si...

Doubt is one of the devil’s biggest weapons against believers. Satan did not say to Eve in the garden, ‘Eat those apples, God does not mind.’ He sowed doubt, ‘Did God say no?’ Today he uses the same doubt to destroy God’s authority and take us out of the blessing that God has given us. The following are actual questions people ask me. Not all who are prayed for are healed – can God be equally glor...

I have written in my office, 'Think God, think big!' How big is God? How powerful is God? My God has the greatest power in heaven, earth and the whole of creation. There is nothing He cannot do! For my God there is no miracle too big, no question too hard, nothing is impossible. The Bible says that the things which are impossible with man are possible for God.  'Our God Reigns' used by kind permis...

Don’t look at the troubles, at the difficulties, at your sickness, your poverty. Look at God and you’ll find Him, if you do it with all your heart. I make a lot of mistakes, but I LOVE Him so much! How do you recognise God? How do you find Him? What is the evidence of God’s existence in the Bible? It’s the fact that He’s a God of miracles, who answers prayer, when it takes a miracle! This is the r...

We have a covenant relationship with God. It’s not simply based on our faith which is weak and can fail, but a covenant which cannot fail or be broken. When you come to Christ, you enter into a covenant relationship with God, signed and sealed by the Blood of Christ. God separates you from the guilt AND the power of sin. You are delivered from Satan and all his works – not when you get to Heaven,...

“No one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God... But we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us!” This is humanly where all the Bible colleges in world, all the teachings and doctrines of the churches fail us. Paul says, v13ff, “What we speak is not words taught by human wisdom, but by the Spirit......

We’ve got to search for God and find Him right where we are! If you think my life as an evangelist is easy, I can disillusion you! Some people say they want to be like me, but if they knew the truth, they wouldn’t want to! When I had the lung cancer I had a very busy schedule – don’t ask me how much I fasted, how much I prayed. When you know you have only a short time to live, you learn how to pra...

Paul is saying, v3, he came ‘in weakness and fear and much trembling’. Why? Perhaps because even here in pagan Corinth, Paul is also facing up to educated Orthodox Jews, trained as he had been, who rejected the crucified Messiah and persecuted His followers. So he’s ‘in weakness’, because he wants to present something he hadn’t been brought up with, that he himself had violently rejected, but was...

If you want to meet with God, you don’t have to wait until you have done this or that. I would never have become an evangelist, never seen a miracle of healing if God had waited until I was perfect before He answered my prayers. I call on God, He deals with me where I am. That’s why I was healed, not because I was ‘holy’. What God looks at is the deep desire of your heart.    I was asked once, ‘Ho...

I hate the devil, and I fight him by demonstrating the power of God. You must fight him, not allow him to stop you receiving. Some look to the church for ceremony, for a formula, for peace – but I find God most, not in the calm, but in the reality of my life. I discovered a long time ago that the most important thing which creates character is not WHAT happens to us so much as OUR REACTION! Moses...

Exploits! Do we as Christians really understand what this means? Daniel says, 'In these evil days that are coming - the people who KNOW their God won't be weak! They won't be defeated! There'll be on FIRE! And they are going to do exploits!' Exploits are the things other people can't or don't do! If you're going to do an exploit, it's something that your friends don't do, something that even the C...

Deuteronomy 4, Moses warned the people first that they must go in and possess the Promised Land, but that then (verses 26-27), once they were in, he said, ‘You’re going to go through difficulty and trial.’ When I preach the Gospel, I am a realist. I do not tell people that coming to Christ is suddenly an end to all their problems, everything will be transformed, living on cloud nine, twanging a ha...

Jesus said, ‘When you pray say, “Our Father in heaven… Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.”’ I was telling the congregation in the football stadium, if you want forgiveness, we have to forgive those who have sinned against us; amongst the 20,000 in the stadium, there were the former members of the secret police who persecuted you and your fami...

I don’t read anywhere in the New Testament that Jesus or the Apostles engaged in ‘spiritual warfare’, binding demons BEFORE they could minister freely somewhere. Talking to our Heavenly Father, yes. Seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit, yes. Because, through Jesus, by the Spirit we have DIRECT access to the Father - Eph 2:18! The promise of the Father is that when we receive the Holy Spirit, we...

Jesus said, ‘When you pray say, “Our Father in heaven… Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.”’ If we want forgiveness, we have to forgive those who have sinned against us. I can remember one of the most memorable meetings I've been in, it was in Timisoara, Romania, just after the collapse of communism. Under Ceaușescu there was terrible persecut...

From the very first ‘EuroVision’ East/West Conference the Holy Spirit gave me a ‘Vision’ of what God could do if I had the faith to believe in a God of the impossible! That Vision has been in my heart for almost 40 years – and is not yet completed. That’s why God has called me to work in the outer parts of that Soviet Empire – and the same miracle which led to Ukraine’s freedom and revival will le...
