Worst Collection Ever

Arts EN ↓ 489 bölüm

WORST COLLECTION EVER is a comic book podcast where Jen and Shawn poke fun at their own collection of random comic books with loads of crass sincerity and scattershot nostalgia. None of the books in the collection offer anything close to quality or financial worth but our love for all of it is as real as it gets. If you want to follow along, we like to read the books in sequential order as to track the lunacy in real time! Email the podcast and talk to the hosts at worstcollectionever@gmail.com!

ClanDestine 30.08.2019

ClanDestine #1 (1994) ClanDestine is one of the most jabroni forgotten teams that have ever been produced in comics. I’ve had a beef with this book for simply existing, dating all the way back to 1994. Anyway, a feudal villager made love with a genie and all their kids were immortal and had varied degrees of power gimmicks. Then THOSE peoples kids were born with powers and so on yet somehow, they...

Machine Man 2020 22.08.2019

Machine Man [vol 2] #2 (1984) In one year from now — 2020 — we will have flying cars and sentient robots coming out of our ears as far as the Machine Man future is concerned. Also, Iron Man’s going to look really strange with his Jack-O-Lantern mouth. At least newsies caps will still be in style, much like they are now! Also, we comment on Spider-Man leaving the MCU as well as our recent trip to t...

Detention Comics (Robin, Superboy, other garbage) 16.08.2019

Detention Comics #1 (1996) This is an anthology of school-related stories that were not good enough to make it into the 90s SHOWCASE books: Tim Drake beats up Suicidal Tendencies en route to stopping his method-out chum from killing a ponytailed fellow student Superboy makes a heartfelt statement about teacher’s salaries. Guy Gardner does a shot-for-shot remake of Morgan Freeman’s LEAN ON ME (1989...

Thor Goes To Hell 08.08.2019

Thor #443 (1992) Thunderstrike “Thor” hands over his hammer to Mephisto like an idiot so Thor barges into Dr. Strange’s house to have Strange send him to actual Hell to get it back. The problem is that he’s just jobber boy Eric Masterson and he stinks so Doctor Strange has to call Silver Surfer in to distract Mephisto so that ThunderThor can get his stick back and free the real Thor from a Hefty b...

X-Men 2099 01.08.2019

X-Men 2099 #19 (1995) We get thrust into the mediocre world of 2099 as Meanstreak helps save Halloween Jack’s casino from Channing Tatum on Bane venom while Krystalin jailbreaks a Jonathan Taylor Thomas-looking brat for cyber-reasons. That would be a great title for a 2099 book….CYBER REASONS 2099. Throw ‘em all in there and see what happens — Spider-Ham 2099, Channing Tatum 2099, Billy Ray Cyrus...

Secret Society of Super-Villains 28.07.2019

Secret Society of Super-Villains #13 (1978) The eponymous secret society featuring a nearly nude Wizard and ultimate DC jobber Captain Comet fart around in the timestream and end up on the Crime Syndicate’s Earth. Battles ensue so the secret villains decide the only way back home is to steal gimmicks from the Syndicate — include Johnny Quick’s Mark Kelso Wazoo helmet — and make a stew that will ri...

Satana, The Devil’s Daughter 18.07.2019

Marvel Premiere #27 (1975) Satana ends up in a California coast town, possibly the Silver Shamrock town from HALLOWEEN III. She breaks up a modern day witch burning only to have the “witch” turn heel and actually BE a witch....sort of. More of a like a Satanic personal trainer that looks like Jesus Christ but dresses like Moondragon. Anyway, there’s a kid trapped in a cape somehow and cars explode...

(Kevin) Nash 13.07.2019

Nash #1 (1999) Former WCW and WWF World champion / MAGIC MIKE dancer Kevin Nash combined forces with Image Comics in the late 90's to create a comic about himself and his beautiful hair. Apparently in four years, the world will be seriously screwed and its full-on LAND OF THE DEAD minus zombies out there. Kevin Nash is our savior, fighting against creepy ministers and devilish women with extremely...

Spider-Man: Far From Home — SPOILERS AF 11.07.2019

So Shawn screwed up and planned on reading an AVENGERS WEST COAST that we’ve already covered so that totally threw off our pre-determined podcast mojo. That being said, we figured it would be timely to do a comprehensive review of SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME and give our thoughts on the latest MCU movie. There are spoilers abound here so listen with caution if you have yet to see the film. Also, we...

Superman Vs. Alex Trebek 04.07.2019

Superman #372 (1982) We’re back with more summer fun as Superman encounters a radioactive Alex Trebek, who unleash an anti-matter splotch on the Earth. You see, his government-issued android children were killed in a tidal wave so its up to Superman to take Alex Trebek back in time to save his "kids." Also, we catch up with Jimmy Olsen in 2021 where there are flying cars and stuff. Superman Jr Jr...

Barbie Celebrates Summer 20.06.2019

Barbie Fashion #33 (1993) Let’s jump into the summer months as Barbie forcibly projects her clueless improv skills onto terrified jazz festival-goers, including Al Roker and young Steve Urkel. Later, Barbie and her cannibalistic cult of child-kidnapping friends present their heath-compromised friend with dirty seashells. Then….everyone gets mono. Probably. The end. Continue the conversation with S...

Robin and Killer Croc 14.06.2019

Robin [vol 4] #71 (1999) An earthquake has destroyed Gotham, causing all sorts of folks to make bold fashion choices. Killer Croc is wearing paisley suspenders, Alfred’s gone plaid and Robin is walking around in his ballet shoes. Also, the GCPD and the Penguin are working together and Nightwing is in bed eating soup. Strange times, man. Continue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter / Ins...

Spider-Man and King Kull 06.06.2019

Marvel Team-Up #112 (1981) Spider-Man’s astral self links up with OG Conan-type King Kull to fight barbarians for a poison cure. Along the way, Spider-Man sees the Gettysburg Address take place and hangs out with pre-historic Dr. Steve Brule. Meanwhile, back on present-day Earth, Doctor Strange’s lazy self drinks ayahuasca and waits for Spider-Man to not muck up the space-time continuum.  Con...

The Wonder Woman Chronicles 31.05.2019

Wonder Woman #218 (1975) Red Tornado abuses his office privileges as a data temp to record a story about Wonder Woman thwarting an evil astrologist from gimmicking Diana’s invisible plane to constantly crash in the Hudson River. Later, Wonder Woman falls off a boat to stop Felix Faust and his banker hair from permanently miniaturizing the Statue of Liberty. Green Arrow watches Wonder Woman change...

Doctor Strange and Doctor Fate 24.05.2019

Dr. StrangeFate #1 (1996) In the Amalgam Universe, Doctor Fate merged with Doctor Strange and became a massive sausage that ends up being Charles Xavier. No surprise there. Also, Zatanna Wanda is insatiable, Green Lantern Nova is sassy and Hulk Grundy is super emo in his trench coat. Also, the Sanctorum’s house servant glues construction paper to his face. Continue the conversation with Shawn and...

Conan The Barbarian 17.05.2019

Conan The Barbarian #138 (1982) Not sure how its been this long that we’ve never done a CONAN book but here it is… In this issue, Conan fights a giant crab and octopus in a swamp and then helps a girl find her murderous wizard father. After slicing up some demon flesh, the girl’s father ends up being the snake dude from that movie DREAMSCAPE. That movie freaked me out as a kid… Continue the conver...

Superman Family 10.05.2019

Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen #16 (1956) It’s a trio of Jimmy Olsen stories that make no damn sense: Jimmy and Superman keep plutonium in the Daily Planet fridge only for the Swami (Chris Berman) to nearly swindle them out of it by making Jimmy hallucinate. Superman carries Jimmy into the nuclear winds, turning him invincible. Lois hits Jimmy with her shoe. Jimmy takes a truth serum and nearly has C...

We’re all screwed. Continue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitte...

Cloak and Dagger 11.04.2019

Cloak and Dagger [vol 2] #8 (1986) Cloak and Dagger end up in France with a Dollar Store Andrew McCarthy, on the trail of some smack dealers. Continue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter / Instagram / Faceb...

Shazam! 05.04.2019

JSA #48 (2003) Captain Marvel and Stargirl are stuck in a shadow nightmare world where Billy Batson has to stay a boy and be useless. Thorn shows up looking like Poison Ivy and mistakes them for her kids in a pretty depressing turn. Fear not though because this book also has SUPERHEROES EATING~! Hector Hall’s having damn picnic inside the Helm of Fate and all our friends are there — the Strausses,...

Incredible Hulk Loses His Damn Mind 28.03.2019

Incredible Hulk #267 (1982) Rick Jones gets Bruce all riled up over a rainbow in the dark (shout-out to DIO), turning him into Hulk and sending him on a rampage in a desert town. Golden Bruce Springsteen shows up to grant a bunch of wishes to the townsfolk, including a cop becoming a different cop with a different hat. Hulk manages to ruin everything and Springsteen’s albino Skrull boss shows up t...

Married with Children vs. Avengers 22.03.2019

Time got away from us while we were traveling so no comic book this week. HOWEVER, we did want to talk about some of the stuff we saw in LA while on the Warner Bros tour, including some Aquaman gimmicks. We also react to the “Disney buys Fox” news and what that could mean in terms of new film and TV properties of the comic book variety as well as a few new purchases we’ve had lately. Continue the...

Starfire & Friends 14.03.2019

Teen Titans Spotlight #19 (1988) Starfire and Nightwing move in together and immediately Kory fills their giant flat with framed pictures of Dick and really tiny pictures of Donna Troy. She gets bored and flies around the city, ruining a helicopter lesson and crossing paths with a ghost-self Harbinger. Thankfully for Harbinger, Starfire arrives just in time to help her out in battling cyborg’d you...

Captain Marvel 07.03.2019

Captain Marvel [vol 3] #1 (1995) When you go to the movies this weekend to see CAPTAIN MARVEL, just remember that instead of Carol, it could have been his snappy 90s space-boy. Genis-Vell is one of them aged clones — technically the “son” of the original Captain Mar-Vell — who grew up on nu-metal and probably drank Fruitopia or Orbitz on the regular. He turned out to be a grimy rager and in his fi...
