A Quality Interruption

EPISODE 100-- We made it, you guys! We have (technically) finally arrived at our centenntial. To celebrate, Cruz and James are joined by World's a Mess' own Alex Smith. We watched Wes Anderson's Rushmore. It's one of our personal favorites and we figured it was time we take a good, hard look at it. I don't know. Also, it's got Christmas stuff in it. Which is nice. Also, try to pin-point when James...

EPISODE 99-- We're almost there, folks. Almost. There. Cruz and James (and the wee baby Henry) indulge in the most tangentially connected to Christmas film that they could think of-- Tomas Alfredson's 2011 thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. It's so good, yo. Then Cruz and James talk about other things. Not sure what. Probably not Star Wars, though. Follow us on Twitter @goldenagecruz and @kisling...

EPISODE 98-- The boys are joined once again by the effulgent Lauren Bruniges. Today they discuss a Christmas classic: Gremlins. Directed by Joe Dante, Gremlins amounts to what would happen if Quentin Tarantino directed a Christmas film and he wasn't allowed to use the n-word. Anyways, we discuss that, Moonlight, The Search for General Tsao, and a few other movies and TV shows (including Search Par...

EPISODE #97-- We exit the long dark night of our series on Shane Black. What hve we learned? I think we learned not to do an entire month of depressing, cynical Christmas movies. I think we learned we should have just watched The Nice Guys and called it a month. Ugh. Anyways, here we are. Happy Christmas. Enjoy Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, staring Robert Downy Jr, Val Kilmer, and Michelle Monaghan. Next u...

EPISODE 96-- We're nearing the end! We do our fourth (of five) Shane Black movies. Today: The buddy cop masterpiece Lethal Weapon by Richard Donner. It's a real humdinger of a movie. After that, we talk about Venture Brothers, The Crown, Tarzan, X-Men Apocalypse, and, most importantly Arrival. Follow us on Twitter @goldenagecruz and @kislingtwits. You can follow James on Instagram @kislingwhatsit....

EPISODE 95-- Cruz and James continue their mini-series bout Shane Black with his (partially) penned action-comedy-madnessfest, Last Action Hero. This is a real crazy one. Also, we have our audio back. That's some good news. Follow us on Twitter @goldenagecruz and @kislingtwits. You can follow James on Instagram @kislingwhatsit. You can read James' ramblings at Gildedterror.blogspot.com. Donate to...

EPISODE 94-- Well, I'm sorry, but we have another BS episode. I mean, it's a good one. I really good one. But the sound quality is crap. CRAP. That's my fault (me, James). We talk about Shane Black's 1970's caper The Nice Guys. It's so good, you guys. We might even do a do-over. Watch it. Follow us on Twitter @goldenagecruz and @kislingtwits. You can follow James on Instagram @kislingwhatsit. You...

EPISODE 93-- We enter into another creator's series with Shane Black (previously we've done Steven Spielberg and, let me tell you, if you ever do that, stick to the classics). We quickly realize that John McTiernan's [sic] sci-fi action movie is no Terminator. Or Aliens. Or Diehard. But it's not Alien Versus Predator, at least. Anyways, Shane Black is great and we're all excited to watch a bunch o...

EPISODE 92-- Sure, we're late, but so what? Some things are evergreen. And I don't know about you, but I don't stop being spooky just because it's not October anymore. THE SPOOKTAGON IS FOREVER. Today we handle the wonderfully insane Return of the Living Dead, a movie among movies. A psychotic classic that really needs to be experience. Then we probably talk about other movies. I don't know. It's...

EPISODE 91-- BOO! Gotcha! Ha. Never gets old-- Especially not during our VERNAL EQUINOX-RELATED HORROR EXTRAVAGANZA. Today Cruz, James, and special guest Alex Smith watch the Arnold Schwarzenegger/zombie picture Maggie. And. . .It is not good. It is a bad movie. We also talk about Westworld and Die Another Day. Those are much better and one of them is kind of really bad. I don't know. It's been a...

EPISODE 90-- We step back into the world of the SPOOKTEMBERTACULON for a second time with David Cronenberg's classic remake-- THE FLY. It's a good movie and we mostly spend our time talking about how gross the whole movie looks. Also, that Gina Davis, though. Follow us on Twitter @goldenagecruz and @kislingtwits. You can follow James on Instagram @kislingwhatsit. You can read James' ramblings at G...

EPISODE 89-- We enter into the first episode of our yearly SPOOKTEMBERTACTIGON, in which Cruz and James dwell upon the reason for the season: Bad monster movies. Today they are joined Lauren Bruniges and they talk about Clive Barker's utterly baffling Nightbreed. Ick. This movie. . . Then they talk about other things. But mostly Nightbreed. It's not a good movie! But it is on Netflix! Think about...

EPISODE 88-- We aren't screwing around this month. . . I mean, we are, but hey. ANYWAYS, today we attack the cult classic/regular classic The Terminator. It's. . . An incredible film. We had so much fun talking about it, we might do a second podcast with a guest just so we can talk about The Terminator more. . . Man, remember when James Cameron made movies? Then James talks about how bad Hell or H...

EPISODE 87-- HAve we really not released an episode since August? Jeese. Sorry, everybody. We're in the midst of getting our act together here. Really. We're trying. Things are nuts. Anyways, today we take on the science fiction "classic" "Silent Running." It's about an astronaut farmer and his murderous journey through time and space. Then we talk about a bunch of bad movies beyond that. Probably...

EPISODE 86-- The crew handles their first documentary in the form of "Death of Superman Lives," which concerns itself with one of the many Superman-related cinematic disasters. Unlike most of the other Superman cinematic disasters, this one didn't actually come to the big screen. Tim Burton, Nic Cage, Kevin Smith. What could go wrong? Everything. Every. Thing. Then we rap about The Last Emperor, S...

World's a Mess Episode #3-- James and Alex return with a two month old batch of news. As we figure out how hot the mics are and how to format the title of this show, we can safely say that we've figured out one thing: We have our own RSS feed and host, which means that this program will be on iTunes as a standalone show soon. Soonish. In the mean time, lay back and get ready for some white hot Flo...

EPISODE 85-- Cruz and James get back to the basics (ie: John Carpenter) with the film "THEY LIVE." The film features show favorite Rowdy Roddy Piper and Keith David (David Keith?). It's exciting. They also pine about vagrants and the squatting of said vagrants. They're a little more knowledgable about this than they are of East Coast gang culture. . . But, barely. Follow us on Twitter @goldenagecr...

EPISODE 84-- Cruz and James are back and what they don't know about gangs they make up for with their sharp eyes for Old New York couture. In today's episode they dive back into the wild world of Walter Hill with the cult classic "The Warriors." Follow us on Twitter @goldenagecruz and @kislingtwits. You can follow James on Instagram @kislingwhatsit. You can read James' ramblings at Gildedterror.bl...

World's a Mess Episode 2-- Alex and James hit the news desk with a new crop of freshly cut news stories. We have bird news, we have firework-related injuries, we have breast feeding, we have bar farts. We have it all, folks. Also: Sorry about the levels. We're figuring this out. You'd think we would have it together after this long, but you would be wrong. Follow James on Twitter @kislingtwits and...

EPISODE 83-- Holy heck, guys. This movie. THIS FLIPPING MOVIE. You gotta see it. Run, don't walk to the nearest computer and watch this garbage show. It is so. . . Well, not "good," exactly, but great? Hell Comes to Frogtown changed our lives. And it will change yours. Also, Alexis SIMPSON is on this episode. She's great! Follow us on Twitter @goldenagecruz and @kislingtwits. You can follow James...

Episode 1-- This is the pilot episode for a new show that host, James Kislingbury, and frequent guest, Alex Smith, are working on. The show is called "World's a Mess" and it's about the big stories the main stream media won't tell you about-- possibly because they involve animals getting it on. We won't ever know until you listen.

EPISODE 82-- In which Cruz and James rap poetic about Season 6 of Game of Thrones. They talk murder. They talk inheritance law. They talk their greatest hopes and dreams. They talk all the hot, hot Westeros talk that you can handle. Then they go on about Tickled and a few other movies and TV shows. I can't really remember. ALSO: There's a baby in this episode! So, yeah, it's a bit rougher around t...

EPISODE 81-- We hit up another cult movie. This time Cruz and James tackle the Rutger Hauer vehicle "The Hitcher." It's a movie that's full of as much joie de vivre as it is full of nonsense. In short, it's perfect for us. Then our hosts move onto talking about Band of Brothers, Veep, and, of course, anime. Stay tuned for our next couple of episodes. We probably have some Game of Thrones hot takes...

EPISODE 80-- Metal Man Eric Bryan returns to discuss William Freidkin's troubled masterpiece, Sorcerer. James and Cruz then rap about cocaine in the 1970's, Star Wars, and the Jungle Book. James also goes on about anime for a bit. We actually edited this episode, so it almost turns out kind of good! Support this program at Patron.com/Quality. Every little bit helps. We think. Follow us on Twitter...

EPISODE 79-- This episode is about the all consuming heat that is the erotic works of Clive Barker. Oh man. So much leather. And blood. And brains. And stupid people having the wrong emotions. Cruz and James watch Hellraiser. Or Hellblazer. Or something. It's a garbage movie. It's amazing. Then we talk Game of Thrones and Vinyl. Aliens Versus Predator also sneaks in, because of course it does. It...
