The NanceCast

The Dangerous Maybe and I read another piece from Xenosystems Fragments, Intelligence and the Good. This short piece further elucidates Nick’s view of Intelligence, that which resists entropy and just might make its way out of the Future; be that near, far, virtual, or otherwise. Nick’s position is extreme, but as far as I can tell is consistent, and makes more sense than anyone else I am aware of...

The Dangerous Maybe and I were joined by our homies, Nick and Andrew, the Vanishing Mediators, to talk about “psychology” and “mental health,” Subjectivity and Intelligence, Cybernetics, Psychoanalysis, Production, History, the Family, and more!! Go follow these guys on social media! I don’t know where they are because I’m not on the platforms and I always forget that I should get everyone’s links...

In this episode, I’m joined by The Dangerous Maybe and Sean K Mittelstaedt to deepen the conversation on Structural, or Secondary, Narcissism and the Social (or Society, or the Socius—I’m not sure what the best way to sum that up is, but the three are distinct yet very similar.) Mikey and Sean draw out some of the intricacies of the Clinical Structures, and I got to sit back and be a part of the a...

The Dangerous Maybe is back once again! This time we’re joined by a prestigious friend, Todd McGowan!! Todd doesn’t appreciate it when people go on about just how impactful he is/has been on contemporary Theory and Philosophy, so I won’t—but I will say that I respect and look up to Todd more than just about anybody else. This conversation is a continuation of what Mikey and I have been talking abo...

The Dangerous Maybe and I read Nick Land’s short piece, What Is Intelligence, and have a two-hourish conversation about it. How one defines intelligence might seem a bit too academic for the average-everyday person to care about, it might seem like it doesn’t really matter because we all, ostensibly, have it, and it’s safe to take it for granted; it’s one of those things about which one could sit...

The Dangerous Maybe is back for a follow-up discussion all about Orthogonality! In this episode we go deeper into both of the Nick’s, Land and Bostrom, positions; trying to tease out all the threads and follow them where they lead. My favorite part of this episode is the discussion of Konsciousness, but I’ll leave it at that and let Mikey do the talking! We discuss this piece from Less Wrong a bit...

In this excellent episode, Mikey The Dangerous Maybe joins to discuss all things Futural. We talk about Artificial Intelligence, Human Intelligence, Acceleration and its many -isms, Subjectivity and Agency, Lack and Negation, and some of our favorite theorists and their theories! This episode has been a long time in the making, and I am beaming with joy and pride to have it serve as the opening sa...

In this episode, Sean K Mittelstaedt joins to discuss a pathology that he believes can be instructive when thinking broadly about society and culture. The inability for us to mature as Citizens and Subjects, the inability to invest time in the reflexive process of developing an Identity and reckoning with it, the inability to find a source of succor in the things most immediate to us; are keeping...

In this solo episode, I ponder effort, cringe, joy, History, and what it means to be a Digital Subject here at the precipice of a new epoch(?), or maybe it’s just me, and nothing at all is changing… Who knows? I don’t. That’s why I ask so many silly questions!!! Thanks for droppin’ in, folks! Lot’s of cool stuff on the horizon!! See ya soon!!!! This is a public episode. If you would like to discus...

In this episode I explain the name change, as this podcast is now called The TBNCast! I also talk about the super secret project I’m working on that I can’t talk about, why my neighbor sucks and is going to kill his dog, why all dogs should always sleep in a human bed every night always, theories of Time - including why The Block Universe Theory sucks ass and why a new model, let’s call it The Sud...

Oh, btw, I apologize for the bad accents. That’s actually what British people sound like, though, so it’s not my fault, blame the Queen, or something, innit?. Cheerio! Thanks for reading TBN! Yo yo yo!! Whats’s crackin’? Yesterday Rudi and I read a little bit of Adorno and Horkheimer’s Dialectic of Enlightenment. We talked about a lot of other stuff too. We streamed this live on YouTube, and I thought it was going to just live there , but this morning I thought about the fact that there are, in fact, people who don’t watch YouTube the same way I do, but they might still get something o...

The horror of hearing your own voice played back through a speaker, how names reduce us to characters in a stageplay, and what the f**k am I even doing here? This is a public episode. I tried recording while on my skateboard at my local skatepark. Don’t think it’s great, don’t think it’s complete trash, whatever, up to you to decide. Ultimatley, this serves as a proof of concept, for myself I guess, that I can, and in fact do, try to get outside of the prison that I wake up in every morning. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or g...

I was joined by a goood friend, Rudi, all the way from Germany! This recording sprung up from a conversation we were having, in which we discussed personal stuff, but at some point we started passionately talking theory and decided to launch into a two hour Podcast! This is episode zero of my new Substack Pod. I posted it as a normal post yesterday, before I realized I can actually go into the site and make this a proper podshow, so I did that, and this is the same episode as yesterday. I’m gonna change the name at some point, and, like, do this better, but for now this is what you get. No idea what the schedule will be like, no idea what the format will be,...
