Welcome back to Truth Worth Living, where we seek to understand God’s word so we can live in God’s will. 🌿 In today’s world, many focus on personal peace, and we see a rise in identity politics, with everyone demanding tolerance for their views. Yet, as followers of Jesus, it often feels like we’re the exception to that rule. But should we be surprised? Jesus told us, “In this world, you will hav...

Welcome back to Truth Worth Living, where we seek to understand God’s word so we can live in God’s will. In Matthew 5:9, Jesus said: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." Peace doesn't just happen—it must be made. The blessing isn’t for the peaceful or even peacekeepers, but for those who make peace. Being a peacemaker means stepping into conflict, understanding i...

Welcome back to Truth Worth Living, where we seek to understand God’s word so we can live in God’s will. Today, we’re diving into Matthew 5:8: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” What does it mean to have a pure heart? Today, we’re diving into the fourth beatitude found in Matthew 5:6: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” At first glance, it may seem that Jesus is calling for go-getters who will strive to achieve righteousness with all their might. But actually...

Welcome back to Truth Worth Living, where we seek to understand God’s word so we can live in God’s will. Today, we continue our journey through the Beatitudes, where Jesus shares the surprising blessings found in God’s kingdom. In Matthew 5:5, Jesus says: “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” To the crowd on that mountainside, this statement was shocking—meekness didn’t get you...

Welcome back to Truth Worth Living, where we seek to understand God’s word so we can live in God’s will. In our last three editions, we laid the groundwork for understanding the Beatitudes. Today, we dive into the first one found in Matthew 5:3: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” What does it mean to be "poor in spirit"? There are two kinds of poverty in scriptu...

Welcome back to Truth Worth Living, where we seek to understand God’s word so we can live in God’s will. What does it mean to be blessed? The Greek word Jesus uses is makarios, often translated as "happy," but it signifies a deeper, enduring happiness and satisfaction unaffected by external circumstances. Jesus promises this profound blessing to those in seemingly unenviable situations and those d...
