Sermons by Dr. Abidan Shah

In this message, we will examine the concept of faith. It is a common term in Christian circles, but what is faith truly, and how does it impact our understanding of salvation? Paul has much to say on the matter. Faith was an integral part of the formation of the early church and their understanding of the work of Christ on the cross. This message will help us understand the role of faith in our r...

In this message, we are learning about the wrath of God. We may have a concept of what the wrath of God entails, but for many of us, it is a poor or incomplete understanding. Because people lack understanding of God’s wrath, they suppress the truth Paul writes much on the wrath of God through the book of Romans. How we understand God’s wrath in the context of history and present events will greatl...

In this message, we will examine God's righteousness as outlined by Paul in the book of Romans. What does it mean that God is a righteous and that we are made righteous? Understanding what Paul means in this context is critical in our approach to end-times prophecy. None of us can achieve righteousness on our own. It is a gift of God. But what is the nature of that gift and how should it chan...

The judgement of God is not something we discuss often, but it is a necessary part of his nature. Seeing the judicial language in Romans points ahead to God's coming judgement in the book of Revelation. When we operate with the judgment of God in mind, it gives a sense of urgency in sharing the gospel with those around us! Do you understand that there is a judgement coming? What verdict will...

In this message, we will continue to trace God’s providential plan throughout history. God worked of course with his people throughout the Bible, but his hand can be seen in the rise and fall of many different nations, civilizations, and kingdoms. While history has had many different eras, God’s hand has consistently been guiding this world through time. Today is no different and as we head toward...

This weekend, we will continue to examine God’s design throughout history. In his letter to the Romans, Paul is holding up the Roman believers as an example to others. His letter is unique in that he does not seem to be addressing a particular situation or controversy but rather provides a guide of core beliefs for all Christians. In doing so, he offers a guide for us today on how the church shoul...

As we head back into our End-Times Prophecy series, I want to focus on tracing God's plan throughout history. Since time began, God has been writing the story of creation. While things might seem out of control at times, the Bible reminds us that God has always been and will always be in control. End-times prophecy reminds us especially of God's sovereignty and his providence both in our...

In this message, I want to take a break from our series. Nicole and I just celebrated 30 years of marriage on our anniversary this year. We have learned much, and there are many things we wish we had known years ago, but God in his timing and his grace has protected our marriage over the years, leading us to these important truths that we believe will be a blessing to everyone, married or single!...

This message marks the beginning of our study of end-times prophecy! This series will shape our church and our understanding of God's plan. While we will spend a considerable amount of time in Revelation, this weekend I want us to begin by looking at the book of Romans. We cannot rightly understand end-times without first grasping the relationship between God and the nation of Israel. God has...

In this message, we will examine the concept of evangelism. When people hear evangelism, they automatically begin drawing conclusions about what that should look like. While there are several good approaches to sharing the gospel, the practice of evangelism is one that is frequently side-lined in the Christian life. Evangelism is not only a key component of the Christian life, but vital for our un...

In this message, we will examine the concept of biblical community. This is coming from God's Word but also from the desires we have heard from many of you. The Christian life was never intended to be lived in isolation but among a family of brothers and sisters. This message will chart a course for us moving forward and reorient us to residing alongside one another. The title of this message...

In this message, we will continue this introductory series to prophecy by looking at the importance of worship. Worship is much more than a specific style of music or portion of service. It is also a prominent theme in the Book of Revelation. Worship defines us as believers and is one of our core values here at Clearview. The title of this message is "FOREVER WORSHIP" Do you understand t...

This weekend, we will continue this introductory series to prophecy by looking at the importance of prayer. As you may know, this weekend is our 24-Hour Prayer Vigil. Prayer changes things, namely the person doing the praying! The title of this weekend's message is "PRAYING SAINTS" Are you struggling to maintain a consistent, dynamic prayer life? Do you understand the role of prayer...

As we end one year and look to the beginning of anther, I want to preach a series of messages that will help set the tone for our church family not only in 2025, but also in this new phase of our church's life. It can be easy to focus on the difficulties or challenges of life. However, through Christ, we have all we need to not only survive adversity but to thrive in God's perfect plan....

In this message, we come to the end of our series. We learned last weekend about the Benjamites standing in opposition to the rest of God’s people. As a result, the people of God took an oath not to give the Benjamites their daughters in marriage. They propose a solution, albeit an unsavory one. This is a reminder that women are held in high regard by Scripture, and everywhere the gospel has gone,...

In this message, we witness the unraveling of God's people. Their sin and disobedience have brought the Benjamin's into conflict with the other nations. God's people are standing upon the precipice of war with one another, a truth we too often experience today. The title of this message is "CIVIL WAR". Are you aware of the consequences of your disobedience to God? Do you n...

In this message, we’re looking at one man’s quest to redeem the love of his wife. Unfortunately, the Enemy stepped in and wreaked havoc. Yet even in the depths of despair and wickedness, there is the hope of redemption in Christ. The title of this message is “REDEEMING LOVE”. Do you feel like you have strayed from God? Are you in need of his mercy, new every morning? Are you saved? Invite your fri...

In this message, we are coming to a big shift in the book of Judges. The era of the judges has ended. The people have gone off the deep end. We will soon see the lasting ramifications of the people's disobedience and their disdain for God's correction through the judges. This setup is eerily similar to what we are facing in our world today. The title of this message is "HIRED GUN&qu...

In this message, we are continuing to work through Samson's account. Samson's downfall took the form of Delilah, a woman being forced by her people to betray Samson. The Philistines were desperately trying to overcome Samson's might. When God is using someone to mightily, it irritates those who are against God. As with every moment of Samson's life, there is an even deeper trut...

In this message, we are continuing our study through the life of Samson. Samson made what appeared on the surface to be questionable choices. However, when we understand the culture of that day and the circumstances in the book of Judges, Samson’s choices not only make sense but he is presented as the hero he was always intended to be. This even affects how we view communion. The title of this mes...

For this message, we are continuing our study through the life of Samson. Samson’s strength was perplexing to his enemies, meaning he did not look the part of a strong man. His strength came from the Lord, and it was evidenced in his displays of power. Much like Samson, when we are made weak, then God has the opportunity to make us strong. This is not of our own power or might, but the power of Go...

In this message, we begin to study the life of Samson. A popular figure, Samson is often portrayed as a cautionary tale. However, there is much we can learn from his life and his fighting against the Philistines. He clashed with them several times, even provoking them to battle at times. How does that affect our understanding of Samson and his status as a judge? We’ll examine this and more in our...

In this message, we are continuing to look at the circumstances surrounding the birth of Samson. There is so much that foreshadows the birth of Christ; very familiar language and similar details. This also shows how children are relentlessly under attack, especially today. There is a very real agenda behind most of the media we consume that seeks to completely misguide our children and destroy the...

In this message, we are examining the promise of a child to Samson’s parents. The promise of a coming child is not just a blessing, but a reference to the promise of a child in Genesis, the coming savior. Throughout history, Satan has made every attempt to attack our children, noticeable most recently in the abortion industry. It is because of his contempt for God’s plan of salvation that he has l...

The social media videos and pictures from Hurricane Helene will stay with us for the rest of our lives. It has been especially sad for Nicole, our kids, and me to watch them because for the past 22 years, we have been going to a Christian camp in Bryson City, North Carolina. We know some of the people who have been directly impacted by Hurricane Helene. Some of our church kids and families know th...
