Pop Culture Role Call

Welcome to season 1 episode 13 of Angel! Portals....a bunch of portals open in LA and an interdimensional civil war starts to spill through em'. Angel Investigations is on the case! Time for Wes to earn his new (tiny) paycheck and Cordi to keep crushing it like Angel crushes coffee. Thanks for listening!

It's season 1 episode 12 this week and Cordi is eating for 8! That's right, Cordi is pregnant with LOTS of babies. Angel and Wesley are working hard to find the "father" and freeze him to death before the impending birth. Don't worry, he is a big evil demon guy. Thanks for listening!

It's season 1 episode 11 of Angel this week on PCRC. At some point in the distant past Angelus sired Jeremy Renner (or whatever his character's name is), and then ghosted on him. Not very cool of you Angel! But, as fate would have it, the student and the teacher have it out in pretty dramatic fashion. Thanks for listening!

Welcome to season 1 episode 10, the episode that aims to fill the Doyle shaped hole in our hearts with a Wesley shaped peg. Cordi and Angel are still picking up the pieces after Doyle's death, but a new demon is cutting their grieving periods short. Grieving isn't very cathartic with a mind reading baddie on the loose. Thanks for listening!

It's season 1 episode 9 and listeners... we lost Doyle?! Just as Cordelia discovers his dual nature and their future looked so cute. But, he learned to be the hero from the best of em'. Thanks for listening!

Welcome to season 1 episode 8...I think? The timeline gets a little jumbled this week after Buffy comes to visit our brooding boy, Angel. To Angel, this will go down as one of the worst days ever. A day fraught with lost love, monster punches, and destiny being a real turd. To everyone else, today never even happened. Thanks for listening!

Welcome to season 1 episode 7 on Angel! So, that "painful past" of Doyle's has a current wife, soon to be ex-wife. A fact that really derails his growing connection with Cordelia, who comes to a personal realization regarding would be partners. At least nobody is going to get their brains eaten...thanks for listening!

It's season 1 episode 6 this week and we are joined by our old friend Kyle, watching as Kate Lockley! Kate has a bit of a mean streak and is thus enrolled in sensitivity training. Unfortunately, that training is all a front for some emotional subterfuge. Can Angel, the steely-eyed, level-headed vampire that he is, stave off the effects himself? Who knows, therapy works in mysterious ways. Thanks f...

Careful, season 1 episode 5 is haunted..twice! Cordi finds the perfect spot and comes away with an unexpected roomie? More mysterious pasts and a successful new business. Thanks for listening.

It's season 1 episode 4 this week and we finally start charging for goods and services! Sure, the service provided is stopping an evil surgeon who can shoot out his teeth like a cartoon character. But, hey, it's a living. Thanks for listening!

We made it to season 1 episode 3 this week! Angel and the crew get an entirely unwelcome visit from everyone's favorite quick quipping bad boy, Spike. We also get an entirely welcome visit from Nick, who guest watched as Spike after a few years away from the show. Nick rules. Nick owns www.alleycatcomics.com. You are going to buy nerd stuff so buy it from Nick. Thanks for listening!

Welcome to episode 2 of Angel, folks! The new crew makes a few visits to a local club/gala looking for... something? What they find is an ancient evisceration demon and an undercover cop. One of the two gets chucked into a flaming barrel and then shot a bunch of times. Thanks for listening!

It's time, folks! The gang sits down for season 1 episode 1 of Angel. We get the backstory of our titular lead, just in case you aren't privy to the specifics. But, we are quickly thrown into the first confrontation with a rich, vampire dirt bag. Luckily, he fails his flying lesson and won't be around to terrorize the good citizens of LA. Thanks for listening!

Murder, conspiracy, treachery, woe....this week the gang takes a movie break with the brutally beautiful Repo! The Genetic Opera. It might have been a critical flop and a box office bomb, but, it won our hearts. Next week is Angel season 1 episode 1! Thanks for listening and spreading the word.

Thank you to everyone who sent in questions for the Firefly/Serenity wrap-up episode this week! The gang talks character arcs that were and character arcs that could have been. Listen next week for a movie break: "Repo! The Genetic Opera". Then, onwards to Angel!

Hello and welcome to the last little bit of Firefly content, Serenity! This week, the gang dips into the film that ended it all. With a 50% mortality rate and some creative liberties being taken with character development, how does this stack up to the story we have been experiencing over the last few months? Send us your questions for the Firefly/Serenity wrap-up next week because we have some st...

Welcome to the last full episode of Firefly, lovely listeners! River's loose grip on reality combined with a loaded gun makes for a tense moment. Matters are made worse by the appearance of Early, an assassin with a complex or two. Everyone (minus Jayne) works together to purge this bad dude from their home and smooth over their rocky relationship. Thanks for listening!

Hello lovely listeners! The crew of Serenity sets down on a dusty planet to help one of Inara's old friends, Nandi. A local villain is trying to steal a baby from one of Nandi's employees. But, we are here to make sure villains die and babies stay safe with their loving mothers. Well, Jayne is here to engage in sex and be generally vile. The rest of us are here to help and stuff. Thanks for listen...

Happy Wednesday, folks! This week Mal and the crew are tasked with transporting some precious cargo, the body of a former friend and soldier. I mean, it's not a "dead" body. Well, it looked like one initially and then was one eventually... it's complicated. Oh, and the PCRC hosts drop a hint for the next show!

Hello listeners! It's heist 2.0 this week when Saffron pops up out of nowhere (based on our scenes), with a new attitude and a plan to steal a cool gun! Book says nothing, Jayne threatens to expose himself, and Wash flies the ship like a leaf on the wind. Summer and the good Dr.? They call a bluff.

Hello and welcome to the torture episode! Wash (the best character) puts his foot down this week and DEMANDS to go on a mission with Mal. Turns out, he is feeling a little jealous of Mal and Zoe's ability to bond over war stories. One thing leads to another and both our boys find themselves being electrocuted by Niska and his goons. Thanks for listening!

Hello there listeners! Welcome to the heist episode with just a sprinkling of medical horror. Simon comes to the crew with a medical caper which he can also use as an excuse to future-scan River's brain. But we had a Benedict Arnold in the party. Thanks for listening!

Hello, lovely listeners! This week, Mal and crew are up shit creek due to some mechanical failures (don't blame Kaylee). In fiction we are trying to survive and doing an... OK job. In reality, this is one of them "flashback episodes" where we get vignettes about how Mal met his original crew. Thanks for listening!

It's episode 8 this week, folks! Sing it with me: "He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor. Stood up to the Man and he gave him what for. Our love for him now ain't hard to explain. The Hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne!" Thanks for listening!

This week, Captain Reynolds and Mrs. Captain Reynolds (Saffron) deal with a rocky first day of matrimony. Partly because the good captain doesn't 100% remember getting married, partly because Saffron keeps kissing and/or kicking the crew. But, hey, every marriage takes a bit of work, ya know? Thanks for listening!
