PATTY'S PLAYHOUSE

People on average buy 4 homes in their life. When buying homes with us, we try and add value to the experience to make it worth your money and time. HUD testers are people who test for discrimination in the housing market. If a HUD tester were to think you were discriminating against a certain community, you can be summoned to court and you will be asked to testify. If I put an ad out for a house, I cannot just give a blanket statement like “no felonies.” In order to not be put on trial for discrimination, I must clarify “no felonies for ____...

Today, buyers are more knowledgeable than ever. Buyers are scared to take on repairs that are the seller’s fault because there could be more repairs needed than meets the eye, the cost can get out of hand extremely quick. So, as they become more knowledgeable, they become more wary of the homes they view due to potential repairs. The home you buy needs to function for your purpose, if it doesn’t,...

I was trying to replace the floors in my bathroom and had plentiful issues with the contractor laying the floor. After a lot of back and forth chatter, I had to stay in a hotel to avoid the angst in the house. After this situation, I’ve realized the importance of researching the companies to a high degree before you decide to let them into your home. Your home is your sanctuary and you should be a...

Why isn’t rent to own something that works? When you sign a lease, you’re paying rent to a landlord while simultaneously putting wear and tear on the house. You can rent, and you can own. But doing one to the other in th...

My mother in law was recently put into Hospice care , a process that can be unfortunate, but a learning curve for all. Although it can be a hard thing for the entire family to experience, we have all been brought together through this process and it has been a pleasure getting to spend more time with her. For our newest listing, 2520 Golden Rod Way, we have partnered with Pyramid Studios , an art...

My 93-year-old mother in law is going to be moving in with my husband and me. When someone is too old to care for themselves, and they need to be taken care of, it’s difficult to decide where they should go. There’s plenty of options, from nursing homes, to assisted living, to hospice, to living in with a family member. Most people don’t realize how much of a financial burden that care-taking can...

A man in Fort Meyers, Florida put a black silhouette sticker on his garage that represented his time in Vietnam. Although it’s not about the content of what he put on his garage, the HOA has standards that specifically state that homeowners in that neighborhood cannot alter their garage, but he did it anyway. They asked him to remove the sticker, otherwise he would be fined. The way to avoid this...
