Highly Suspect Reviews

MOBLAND SERIES REVIEW Oi, pull up a chair, mind the blood on the floor, and keep your voice down—we’re talkin’ business. Serious business. The kind with blokes in leather coats, dodgy accents, and enough bullets flying to make Tarantino blush. Lewayne and T.C. gather in the smoky One Of Us backroom, conspirin’ in hushed tones, […]

CHAO MOVIE REVIEW Maciej Kur is back and he is once again covering the Annecy Animation Festival in France! Spidermike joins him to take a look at some of the wild new animated films from around the world coming out soon. From the innocent and unsuspecting country of Japan comes Yasuhiro AOKI’s first full-length feature […]

I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER MOVIE REVIEW With the Scream franchise on temporary (but probably not VERY temporary) hiatus, Hollywood in their quest for continuing the trend of 90s nostalgia is forced to turn to some of the not-even-as-close-to-as-good horror franchises of the time. Naturally, you’d first go to the one by the […]

EDDINGTON MOVIE REVIEW No matter how much some of us may want it, Ari Aster seems to be done with horror for now. He certainly isn’t done with horrifying though. His latest film Eddington reteams him with Joaquin Phoenix, this time playing Joe Cross, the sheriff of the titular small town in New Mexico. When […]

MURDERBOT MOVIE REVIEW They Might be Giants once rocked out to the lyrics “Robot parade, robot parade, wave the flags that the robots made”. As any Sci-Fi fanatic knows, the overthrow of man by the cold steel hands of a robot all begins with that first step into the land of free will. Adapted from […]

ESCAPE FROM THE 21ST CENTURY MOVIE REVIEW Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road, but what if time didn’t grab you by the wrist and direct you where to go? What if time violently chucked you 20 years into the future every time you sneezed? Written and directed by Yang Li, Escape from […]

THE OLD GUARD 2 MOVIE REVIEW “And here we are, we’re the princes of the universe. Here we belong, fighting for survival. We’ve come to be the rulers of you all”-Freddie Mercury. Who knew that this one lyric would best describe the long awaited sequel to the smash hit The Old Guard on Netflix? Andy […]

SUPERMAN MOVIE REVIEW Most audiences no longer have a problem ‘believing a man can fly’ in movies. Now the challenge is, ‘believing anyone can make a Superman movie that brings us even half of the quality of the original Christopher Reeve film’. There certainly seems to be a lot of confidence, both at DC/Warner Brothers […]

IRONHEART PART 2 REVIEW After the events of the heirloom heist going south, Riri finds herself no longer allied with her criminal crew, sees her new friend Joe AKA Ezekiel Stain hauled off to prison, and her AI N.A.T.A.L.I.E. dejected after Riri considers deleting her. Marvel TV’s Ironheart has come to a conclusion with many […]

HEADS OF STATE MOVIE REVIEW There have been some great entries into the action-comedy road trip genre, with films like Tango & Cash, The Long Kiss Goodnight, The Nice Guys, Midnight Run, and recently Deadpool & Wolverine. Now, Idris Elba and John Cena are using their combined charisma and endless charm in the genre. This […]

ECHO VALLEY MOVIE REVIEW Kate Garretson (Julianne Moore) tends to all the pretty horses on a ranch for training riders, but her roof is at risk of collapsing. Her life is already in a state of disrepair after the tragic death of her wife. $9000 could fix the roof, but the turmoil in the home […]

JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH MOVIE REVIEW Seven of these Jurassic movies now. SEVEN. The hope was that after the terrible (but, of course, financially lucrative) last three entries, this new creative team led by director Gareth Edwards (who knows a thing or two about giant monsters) would rediscover what made that first Jurassic Park movie so […]

IRONHEART PART 1 REVIEW Disney Marvel has dropped a new MCU series starring Dominique Thorne following her role as the tech-genius Riri Williams, first introduced to us in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The show picks up after the events of that film and takes Riri back to her hometown of Chicago where she reconnects with […]

SORRY, BABY MOVIE REVIEW Most films that deal with overcoming trauma do it either as it being represented as a growing black gulf of evil (see at least half the horror films made in the last 5-10 years), or with a good deal of saccharine. The debut film from writer/director/star Eva Victor is something new. […]

F1 MOVIE REVIEW In this day and age of trademarked products being made into gigantic Hollywood films, it’s at least a little surprising that Formula 1 Racing took this long to get into the act. At least since 2013’s Rush anyway, but never quite so proudly branded as F1 (and to a great deal, paid […]

M3GAN 2.0 MOVIE REVIEW Although the 2022 horror film M3gan was certainly a hit, it left a lot to be desired. Straddling the gap between wanting to be a horror film and wanting to be a campy comedy with neither foot firmly planted made for a very uneven film. But one thing that did work […]

THE UNHOLY TRINITY MOVIE REVIEW Death looms over a town with a sketchy past drowned in whiskey from high noon to midnight saloon time with ladies of the evening. A stranger appears by the name of Henry Broadway (Brandon Lessard) who has local family ties…and he’s out for vengeance against the man who wronged his […]

BEST WISHES TO ALL MOVIE REVIEW When you’re a kid you don’t really notice the routines of your parents until you leave the house and take a peek through the kitchen window. On the outside looking in you might notice some things overlooked by the wide eyes of your innocent childhood. Father stressed about work. […]

28 YEARS LATER MOVIE REVIEW With 28 Days Later‘s explosive success, Danny Boyle’s Oscar win with Slumdog Millionaire, and Alex Garland’s own film career, it’s not entirely surprising to see these filmmakers go back to the zombie well. 28 Years Later is the third film in the horror franchise and you guessed it, takes 28 […]

DEEP COVER MOVIE REVIEW The Screener Squad gathers in the One Of Us backroom to chat in secret about this comedic crime caper, Deep Cover. Kat Boyles (Bryce Dallas Howard) is a struggling improv teacher turned undercover asset for the London police. Recruited by Detective Sergeant Graham Billings (Sean Bean), Kat brings along two unlikely […]

DOGMA 25TH ANNIVERSARY MOVIE REVIEW Jesus was beaten, bled, died for your sins and if ye so believe in him thou will be saved. Guilt, shame, and discipline are the blessings on the path to righteousness. These doctrines served the purpose of frightening kids and adults into attempting a life of virtue for years to […]

MATERIALISTS MOVIE REVIEW Take one professional matchmaker for the rich and superficial (Dakota Johnson), one ex-boyfriend with all the looks and personality but no money (Chris Evans), and one absurdly rich dude who is that rare one that doesn’t seem to be a total schmuck (Pedro Pascal), and you get the love triangle that makes […]

PREDATOR: KILLER OF KILLERS REVIEW After proving he understands the Predator franchise better than anyone else with 2022’s incredible Prey, Dan Trachtenberg returns with an animated anthology film of action, gore, thrills and kills. Told in three chapters, we get to see Predators battle a Viking warrior out for revenge against the warlord who slayed […]
