Chicago Fellowship Talks

What is a practical first step we can take to counter the forces of fear and distrust in our culture that are dividing us from one another? How do we follow Jesus in inviting those who are different into the community He is building?

What are the forces at work in our culture that take us away from God's purposes in our life? How do we recognize these very dangerous Rip Tides and what wisdom does the Scripture give us in countering them?

In this time when so many forces are at work destabilizing our life and our world, where do we go to find a foundation and anchor for weathering the storms of these unsettling days?

In this final Friday morning Fellowship before our summer break, we celebrate what the Lord has done in and through our Fellowship during this most challenging 18 months. We also give thanks and praise to the Lord for what He has done and ask His blessing on our plans as we return to a more normal schedule this Fall.

Joel Hamernick - Beauty in a Broken World - What is beauty and what role does it play in God's plans for us? What does it help us see in the midst of the brokenness of our world?

In this message from Matthew 7:24 - 8:4, Dr. Labberton challenges us to answer the question "Do we simply believe the message of the Gospel or do we actually embody it in the way we live? In the way we relate to those in our world who are different or who we may even see as our enemies?" In the gospels, Jesus challenges us to consider that it is not enough just to have faith but we are to take the...

Ray Carter introduces David Dillon who introduces four key leaders serving on the frontlines in some of the most challenging places in our city. If someone ever asks you what is being done to address some of the most serious problems we face, this secession will give you more than a little encouragement. It will serve as clear evidence that if we want to make a difference for the Lord wherever we...

Psalm 23:6 - "God's Faithful Presence" - What gives David such confidence in God's faithful presence through all the circumstances of his life? What makes this affirmation of David so hard for us to believe? Join us as we explore one of the most beautiful and powerful truths in all of scripture.

As followers of Christ in today's world, how do we become a clear representation of God's kingdom and presence and at the same time avoid being defined by the divides and tribalism of our day? How do we transcend those divides to be the faithful presence we are called to be?

Psalm 23:4-5 - Trusting God's Presence in Challenging Moments - How did David come to a place of complete trust in God's presence and goodness in the midst of some of life's most challenging moments? How might we grow in our ability to trust God in these moments of our life as well? Join us as we consider why all of us need some Goliaths and Nathans in our life if we are to grow in character and i...

What are the paths of righteousness that David is referring to in Psalm 23:3? When the Lord is our shepherd, we receive the righteousness of Christ as a free gift that He extends to us for the glory of His name. How does this give us a life that is different from the one we experience when we try to save ourselves by being good?

Board member Jon Houghton discusses the role of both Evangelism and Social Action and the way they work together. Using this as a basis can help Gen X understand Millenials and Gen Z and vice versa.

Ray introduces Joe Pringle, then shares on Psalm 23:2-3a - "Finding Rest in Chaotic Times" - What is it that keeps you awake at night? What is it you find yourself most concerned about and that weighs most upon you in these often confusion and chaotic times? What does the psalmist tell us is the key to finding rest from the burdens we carry and how do we experience it?

In these times when there is so much noise and confusion around us, it is often difficult to know whose voice to listen to and how we ought to respond. This brief series on Psalm 23 will help us remember who it is that is leading us and where His call on our life is taking us.
