True North Community Church

True North Community Church

True North is a Christian church that meets in Everett, WA. Like sailors guided by the North Star, we believe our constantly shifting culture needs an anchor for truth and reality. We believe Jesus is the source of all goodness and truth, and we aim to help people lead lives that point to Him.

Psalm 51: Lament for Ourselves 09.05.2022

Part 2 of the series "Songs of Lament." David writes this psalm after a friend calls him out for a string of offenses and crimes. What begins as a cry to God leads to a deep examination of the self, and an even deeper understanding of how God loves to forgive.

Psalm 13: Why we need Lament 01.05.2022

Part 1 of the series "Songs of Lament." Our world, and sometimes our church, doesn't really know what to do with sadness. God does not ask us to repress our pain nor overlook it because of our faith. The psalms prove that He is familiar with all our grief, and that sorrow is necessary for joy.

Easter: Resurrecting the Body 17.04.2022

The last part of the series "Sacred Bodies." Jesus was born to us in a body; his body was subjected to torture and death, and his body came back to life. What are the implications then for us, our bodies, and our lives in the here and now?

Part 6: Redeeming the Body 12.04.2022

From the series "Sacred Bodies." We've discussed the issues of generational sin, workaholism, idolatry, addiction and their profound effects on our bodies and souls, but the question remains: can Jesus really heal our bodies from all of that damage?

Part 5: Self-Control 03.04.2022

From the series "Sacred Bodies." This week, we discuss the root of sin and addiction. God created us with deep needs and desires not to leave us dissatisfied, but to help us seek a higher and everlasting way to joy and fulfillment.

Part 4: Worship with the Body 28.03.2022

From the series "Sacred Bodies." Our body is a temple, home to the Spirit of God; it is also a touchpoint to sin. The habits we cultivate or leave unchecked create an environment that is either conducive or hostile to the Spirit at work in our heart and soul.

Part 3: Rest for the Body 20.03.2022

From the series "Sacred Bodies." Our generation is known for our common feeling of fatigue, and yet we know that pursuing a deep spiritual life requires a lot of energy and investment. For our soul's sake, we must learn to heed the signals in our bodies, and accept Jesus's gift of rest.

Part 2: Generational Sin 13.03.2022

From the series "Sacred Bodies." Much of our values and perceptions of ourselves is passed down from our families, matching or clashing with what Jesus says about our identity. This week, we look at a recurring transgression in Abraham's life, how it affected the generations after him, and ultimately, how no practice or pattern is too shameful for the redeeeming power of Jesus.

Part 1: (un)Sacred Bodies 06.03.2022

Our culture tells us to love our bodies, and yet this generation remains burdened by the ideals of efficiency, productivity, and overwork. This week, we begin our series on "Sacred Bodies" by looking at how God created us not just as spiritual but physical beings, why that naturally endows us with the value of personhood, and why these together form the backbone of all human rights and our view of...

True North: Sharing the Gospel 13.02.2022

Often, we relegate evangelism to the pulpit and street corners, but Jesus commands all his followers to go and make disciples. Join us as we discuss exactly what we are witnesses of, and as we commit to following Jesus, day by day, to the ends of the earth.

True North: Outreach 06.02.2022

Reaching out to the poor, lost, and brokenhearted is at the heart of the character of Jesus. As his followers, it is not optional. Yet, so often it's reduced to a category on our budget plan, an event we may organize for "needs-based" peoples, and all the while we forget how far, deep, and wide Jesus's ministry truly reached.

True North: Community 30.01.2022

Despite living in a world that touts individualism, we cannot do life alone, and we certainly can't follow Jesus by ourselves. God gives us the challenging gift of community so that we may, despite our differences, be reminded of our common hope, purpose, and identity in Christ.

True North: Worship 24.01.2022

We all worship something, but what does our worship do to us? Here we discuss why God is the only One worthy of our extravagant attention and devotion, and yet often the most neglected.

True North: Silence & Solitude 21.01.2022

Our lives are so filled with noise. How do we make out the voice of God amidst the crashing sound waves inside our minds and ears?

True North: Sabbath 21.01.2022

Our generation is the most stressed and exhausted. How did we get this way? We kicked off the new year with a new church vision and new name: True North, leading lives that point to Jesus. This week, we learn from God our Creator, and his original design for our bodies and souls.

Vision Sunday 2022 21.01.2022

2021 left many of us feeling very lost. In our postmodern culture, lost-ness is both romanticized, and a source of deep fear and anxiety. If we want a clear path and a fulfilling life, we need true direction.
