for players and parents. Because today isn’t about calling anyone delusional. Today is about answering the only question that matters: “If I stop doing what’s hurting my kid… what do I do instead?”

This episode is not for everyone. It’s not motivational. It’s not polite. But if you’re a hockey parent listening right now — and your kid wants to go high in this game — you might want to sit still for the next few minutes. Because what I’m about to say is costing kids opportunities in rinks, locker rooms, and boardrooms they’ll never even know they were close to.

Now? A lot of coaching is defensive. Not systems-defensive — emotionally defensive. Coaches are thinking: * How will this parent react? * How many emails will I get? * Will this turn into a complaint? * Is this correction worth the fallout? So instead of teaching hockey sense…
They manage emotions. Instead of demanding habits… They avoid conflict. And development quietly dies.

What Hockey Gave Me — And What It’s Losing. I grew up playing AAA hockey at ten years old with the Toronto Red Wings. Not because I was special — but because that’s how the game worked back then. You either kept up or you were gone. I came out of House League, jumped straight into AAA, and realized immediately: this wasn’t kids’ hockey anymore. This was a different world.

“The Court of Public Opinion” I didn’t plan to make this episode. But then the comments started coming in. Thousands of them. Different countries. Different sports. Same tension.

So here I am. Boxing Day. Standing at a crossroads I never asked to be at. Do I stay and fight in a system where: * The rules keep changing * Anonymous voices carry more weight than decades of work * Silence replaces leadership Or… Do I walk away—not because I’m broken—but because I refuse to be bent?
