Talkin' TV

Well, yet another example of Talkin' TV's seamless ability to pivot last minute, because we were going to do Pixar's Turning Red this episode, and then promptly decided against it once we actually watched it. So instead, Dom & Chris tackle Ben Stiller's brand new Apple TV+ show that is slowly winning the internet over one twitter account at a time, Severance! An American science fiction psychologi...

We've reached the end of another season of Game of Thrones, and if you ask Dom, the point where Game of Thrones officially drops off in quality. Season 4, Episode 10, entitled "The Children" is the end of a lot of our major character's arcs and also really a major ending point for a lot of the storylines we've been following for the last four seasons. Despite the Red Wedding occurring at the end o...

Dom & Chris are joined by Matt of Basic Entertainment to break down, discuss and review every element of Matt Reeves' brand new "The Batman" which was just released in theaters this past weekend. The film follows Robert Pattinson's brand new take on the character of Batman as he finds himself in his second year of crime fighting teaming up with Commissioner Jim Gordon to find the Riddler, who is e...

It's another much anticipated battle episode as we cover the penultimate episode of Season 4, arguably one of the best episodes of the entire series, "the Watchers on the Wall." Directed by Neill Marshall, who also directed Season 2's Battle of Blackwater, this episode covers the battle for the Wall between the Night's Watch and Mance Rayder's wildling army. Dom & Pat break down this episode,...

It's our reaction to the much anticipated Season 2 finale of HBO's hit show Euphoria! After a 2 year wait since the first season finale, Euphoria debuted a month ago to gangbuster numbers and caught us up on everything going on with Rue, Jules, Fezco, Nate, Cassie, Lexi, Maddie, Kat & the rest of the gang! It's been a crazy season, and some shit is definitely about to go down after Lexi's cont...

We're almost done with Season 4, and we begin the wrap-up phase, with Season 4, Episode 8, "The Mountain & the Viper." We obviously talk a ton about the titular fight between Prince Oberyn Martell and Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane, with Benioff & Weiss delivering yet again another one of Martin's classis pulling the rug out from under your feet moments, with Prince Oberyn literally winning...

We return after a brief hiatus for the superbowl with the latest Amazon animated show, The Legend of Vox Machina! An American adult animated fantasy streaming television series produced by Critical Role Productions, Titmouse, Inc., and Amazon Studios, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 28, 2022. It is based on campaign one of the Dungeons & Dragons web series Critical Role. The serie...

We're in the back half of Season 4, and boy is this season rear loaded as we cover season 4, episode 7, entitled "Mockingbird" after Littlefinger's house sigil. We always get at least one of these episodes per season, where the episode is primarily set up, but Benioff & Weiss pull out all the stops to give us scene after scene of incredible writing and insanely captivating character moments. Tyrio...

We're past the halfway point of Season 4, which means we're into gangbuster territory. I'd make the argument here that the back half of Season 4 might be the best and most important stretch of this entire show, and we're kicking it off with "The Laws of Gods & Men," or as its better known as, Tyrion's trial. It's another season 4 episode written by Bryan Cogman, as well as another one that fea...

Well, in case it wasn't already made aware of, we hit 400 subscribers! It was a goal we'd been attempting to hit last year, and we did it! So now, we're presenting it to you guys in audio format as well! We've got some important announcements to make here as well, so you guys are not going to want to miss this! Be sure to also check out the full video on the Youtube as well, and be sure to keep tu...

We're at yet another midpoint, and just given the amount of gangbusters stuff on the horizon, there had to be a lukewarm episode somewhere. Still a great episode, but "First of his Name" definitely wraps up a lot of stuff that we knew was coming before prepping us for the final six episodes. Cersei is making moves in King's Landing with Margaery, Tywin & Oberyn. Daenerys makes a decision conce...

We're at the end of January, which means we had one last top 10 list to go, and this time, it's Top 10 Best Movies of 2021! As you guys can probably guess, just given the caliber of movies we had to work with, this was a difficult list to come by. Also unlike last year, we didn't have to many similar entries, but if anything it just made it more fun. Chris & Dom each break down their top 10 fa...

A smaller, more intimate set up episode, but an incredible one to say the least. Bryan Cogman returns to write the episode that definitely set the precedent for deviating the most from the books as far as character motivations go. Daenerys takes over Meereen with a cool maneuver from Grey Worm. Jon arranges to take a party north of the wall to kill the Night's Watch mutineers at Craster's, who als...

Alright guys, it's our end of the year January hall. We did worst movies, and today we're breaking down our favorite TV shows of the year. It was a terrible year for movies, but a monumental one for television. We got some incredible genre fair, brilliant comedy, jaw dropping new stories that have really been missing from the big screen lately. Television has truly become the new place to watch gr...

Oh man, another jam packed third episode, what is with these third episodes being so jam packed yet so awesome. "Breaker of Chains" sees the immediate aftermath of Joffrey's death, and how everyone reacts to it, and only a few short months after the Red Wedding served a similar purpose. Tywin immediately begins readying Tommen to take over, Jaime & Cersei engage in a very strange and oddly interpr...

Oh man. After MONTHS of just terrible, mediocre movies, not only do we have a gem, not only do we have something refreshing, but we quite possibly have the best movie of the year. That's right. On today's episode of #talkintv , Chris is talking all about James Gunn's "Peacemaker" starring John Cena. A 2022 American superhero series based on DC Comics featuring the team Suicide Squad, based on the...

This is one we've been waiting for awhile to do. Season 4, Episode 2, The Lion and the Rose. The final episode written by George R. R. Martin for the series before he went back to procrastinating on the Winds of Winter. This episode has a few other storylines, we're reintroduced to Ramsay and his sadism and briefly check in with Bran & Stannis, but the grand centerpiece of this episode is Joff...

Alright people, a new year is upon is, which means it's time for the best and worst of the previous year! But this one's a special occasion because, that's right, I finally got Chris to do the worst of the year list with me! I've been trying to get him to do one of these lists with me for awhile now, and I finally convinced him because ho man, was it a bad year for movies. It's something I've been...

We're back! After a much needed break, Professor Pat & the Movie Nerd are back to recap the rest of Game of Thrones! We pick up right where we left off with the Season 4 Premiere, Two Swords! This episode served as a bit of a soft reboot of the series, once again signifying the ultimate victory the Lannisters achieved over the Starks with Tywin's symbolic melting of Ned Stark's Valyrian steel...

And this is it! The final one! We're closing out the year of 2021 with a movie that, quite frankly, perfectly sums up the year we just all experienced in terms of movies. This movie is...predictable to say the least. Produced, co-written, and directed by Lana Wachowski . It is the sequel to The Matrix Revolutions (2003) and the fourth and final installment in The Matrix film franchise . Keanu Reev...

Alright people! This is it! Movie event of the year time! Chris & Dom are back together to break down arguably the most anticipated movie of what feels like the last two years, the conclusion to the Tom Holland MCU Spider-Man trilogy, it's "Spider-Man: No Way Home!" After the reveal of his identity by J. Jonah Jameson at the end of 2019's Far from Home, Peter's life and that of his friends and...

We're almost done guys! Only two more episodes after this before we begin the new year! And before we all start freaking out over Spider-Man, we reviewed the latest gem that popped up on Netflix, that being Arcane: League of Legends! Arcane is a 2021 adult animated streaming television series. It is set in the League of Legends universe. The series was announced at the League of Legends 10th anniv...

Alright people, we're in the home stretch, final three weeks of 2021, and you know what that means? It's OSCARS TIME BABY!!!! And we kick that off with returning guest hosts Adam Sommer & Brandon Fallat, who join Dom to talk about a film that's been getting a lot of critical hype from all the awards circuits and festivals, Jane Campion's The Power of the Dog! Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Kir...

And another one finished. With that, we've reached the end of the line, officially at the finish line of the first third of the show. The Season 3 finale, entitled Mhysa, which is old Ghiscari for mother. This was a big season, despite the seeming pull back in action, but an important one at that. It signified a big shift in where the focus of the story would be going forward, recontextualizing th...

We're wrapping up 2021, and to top off our Thanksgiving vacation, we're giving you guys the review for the 2nd Ridley Scott film released in 2021, House of Gucci! Based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden, the film follows Patrizia Reggiani ( Lady Gaga ) and Maurizio Gucci ( Adam Driver ), as their romance transforms in...
