Psalm 12 shows us the distinction between the words of man and the Words of God. 

Psalm 11

Psalm 10 teaches us how to express a lament to God for the state of our fallen world. But even in a world where it seems like the wicked and evildoer are prospering, we know the Lord is king forever and ever. 

Matthew 5:38-42 bring us some of the most challenging words of the Sermon on the Mount. How we respond to opposition and adversity reflects how much our heart is secured in Christ. 

Matthew 5:43-48 brings us the most radical teaching of Jesus yet in the Sermon on the Mount. Why would we possibly want to love our enemies? We find it is because God has love us, who were once His enemies, so we should love our enemies. 

Matthew 5:33-37 brings us Jesus' teaching on taking oaths and vows. Jesus gets to the heart of our words. Those in the Kingdom should have integrity of speech that flows from a pure heart. 

Matthew 5:31-32 brings us Jesus' teaching on divorce and remarriage. Jesus gets to the heart of marriage and brings it back to God's original, creation design.

In Matthew 5:27-30, Jesus moves to the example of lust and adultery to continue showing how God desires an obedience from the heart. 

In Matthew 5:21-26 Jesus begins showing the deeper meaning of law by first exploring the example of anger. Jesus reveals the sinfulness of anger is the same heart attitude that leads someone to murder. Disciples of Christ are held to a higher form of obedience that comes from the heart. 

Matthew 5:17-20 helps us begin to understand the relationship between Jesus and the Law. The greater righteousness needed to enter the kingdom of heaven can only be found in the one who fulfilled the Law--Jesus!

Matthew 5:13-16 brings the famous statements that disciples of Christ are the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world." This challenging teaching tells the Christian that they have an undeniable purpose to live their life for the glory of God.

On this Resurrection Sunday of 2024 we look at Paul's words from 1 Corinthians 15:12-26 to discover why the resurrection of Jesus Christ matters.

We celebrate Palm Sunday by look at Matthew 21:1-11 and the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The king has come and will come again. Have you bowed the knee to King Jesus?

Matthew 5:10-12 concludes the beatitudes with Jesus addressing persecution for righteousness' sake. This is the unrighteous persecuting the righteous because of their righteousness. Let's explore how this applies to our lives today.

The seventh beatitude in Matthew 5:9 shows us that disciples of Christ are peacemakers. We follow in the footsteps of our peacemaking God when we strive to live at peace with everyone and having a peacemaking effect on the environment we inhabit.

Matthew 5:8 brings us a beatitude that sounds impossible on the surface. Who has a pure heart? Who is worthy to see God? But we will see that this pure heart is possible for the disciple of Christ. It is an undivided heart, completely set on pleasing God in the hopes of one day seeing the Savior face to face. 

Matthew 5:7 teaches us that life in the Kingdom of God means showing mercy to those around us. Mercy expresses itself as forgiveness to the guilty and compassion to the suffering. Christians who have received infinite mercy from God should eagerly show mercy to others.

(Matthew 5:6) Do you desire to obey God and honor God with your life? The disciple of Christ should have a huger and a thirst for personal righteousness that overflows from a love for God. 

Matthew 5:5 tells us "Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth." This meekness is expressed towards God as submission and towards man as humility and gentleness.

Matthew 5:4 tells us that "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Christians rightly mourn their own sin, the sins of others, and the effects of sin in a fallen world. But we do so knowing we find comfort through both immediate restoration in Christ and hope of the future restoration of all things. 

Matthew 5:3 brings us the first beatitude. Those who are poor in spirit realize they are spiritually powerless, spiritually worthless, and spiritually dependent. But they are happy and blessed because to them belongs the kingdom!

In Matthew 4:12-25, we find Jesus' first summons for someone to "follow me." From this passage we explore what a Christian truly is: a follower of Jesus. 

Matthew 4:1-11 brings us the temptation of Jesus. By God's divine plan, Jesus is being tested to determine if he will be the true Son who will faithfully and completely obey the Father.  And through the temptations Jesus shows himself to be the true Son.

Matthew 3:13-17 brings us the baptism of Jesus where John the Baptist and Jesus' paths cross for the first time. Here, God the Father clearly identifies Jesus as his beloved Son. We also take time to explore the doctrine of baptism as a whole.

Matthew 3:1-12 introduces us to John the Baptist. John comes preaching a message of repentance meant to prepare people to receive their king, Jesus Christ.
