St. Anthony's Tongue

Here we continue our discussion on two things: 1. Modern miracles that led to sainthood 2. But also miracles that involved holy relics. Today we discuss St. Nunzio Sulprizo, Bl. Carlo Acutis and St. Titus Brandsma! Please consider supporting my work through Patreon at: patreon.com/anthonystongue

Let's discuss three recent miracles involving holy relics, more specifically, miracles that led to the canonization or beatification of individuals like Bl. Solanus Casey, Bl. Francis Xavier Seelos and St. Dulce of the Poor. If you enjoy this podcast please support my patreon at: http://www.patreon.com/anthonystongue

St. Margaret Mary is the saint that gave us the Sacred Heart devotion as we know it today. A great mystic to reflect upon during the month of Jesus' heart. http://patreon.com/anthonystongue

We all are familiar with the Sacred Heart of Jesus, but are you familiar with it's ancient origins? The common devotion stems from the 17th century, but it has roots all the way back to the Gospel writers. For more, check out the patreon at http://www.patreon.com/anthonystongue

St. Bernard of Clairvaux is one of the reasons we associate Christian Mysticism with the love of God. Here I discuss one of his most accessible works On Loving God, and cover his four degrees on loving God. For bonus episodes and more check out my Patreon at http://www.patreon.com/anthonystongue

St. Bernard of Clairvaux isn't just one of the most important figures in Catholic history, but really, all of history. He held political influence over popes and kings, but also defined a love-based mysticism, and a Marian devotion that we still follow today. St. Gemma Galgani is a newer saint, both in history and to me personally. Though, she's easily becoming one of my favorite stigmatists and potentially mystics overall. Join me as we discuss this great saint, her stigmata and her battles with the devil.

St. Lutgardis is a fascinating saint, mystic and stigmatist. She was the second reported stigmatist of the church, and was the first woman to receive the stigmata. Her story surrounding her apparitions of Jesus and His heart, were also precursors to the Sacred Heart devotion. We kick-off our series on the stigmatists with a look at the first noted stigmatists - St. Francis of Assisi. Though we also discuss, in general, what the stigmata is and it's deep theology. One of the most interesting practices to spring from The Cloud of Unknowing is Centering Prayer. This is a simple yet profound method of connecting with the divine, though it's also had some criticism. Here I hope to share a balanced take on a very fruitful practice.

A mysterious text took medieval England by storm. The book was written by a mysterious monk, aiding his student in Christian contemplation - teaching him to unite with God by going beyond the intellect. This book was The Cloud of Unknowing, and today, we're discussing it.

We also discuss the whole of John's mysticism, including his work the Spiritual Canticle. For more content on the mystics,...

Join Our Patreon Donate to the Podcast  St. Hildegard von Bingen is one of the most beloved and interesting saints, mystics and doctors of the church. One of her most well known concepts, and to me, one of the most mystical, is her concept of viriditas or “greening”.
