Faith looks like begging

How have you navigated properly fearing the LORD? Jesus reached us how in the stormy sea. Matthew 14:22-33 Job 38:4-18

Jesus is the same God who had compassion on the Old Testament Hebrews as they wandered the desert. Christ always provides for us, both spiritually and physically. The world can only promise us short term physical pleasures and can never satisfy the soul. Matthew 14:13-21

Today we celebrate the Feast of St Mary Magdalene.

The Lord sends his word like rain on the earth. And that water wants to do is grow the Seed and let it bear fruit.

Jesus calls for us to bear his word, even if it brings the anger of our closest friends and family.

Today we celebrate the Presentation of the Augsburg Confession. Jesus warns us that following Him will bring us mockery, resistance, and harm. But take heart! He who endures to the end will be saved. His Grace is a gift.

Matthew’s example of repentance and faith is for you. When God’s Word tells you to stop your sinful lifestyle and instead follow Jesus, do you stubbornly keep on sitting and counting your gold coins?

Do I need to change myself to be more like how I imagine myself or feel? How is Jesus forming me even now?

We aren’t celebrating the giving of the Law through Moses, but the giving of the Gospel through Christ’s death and resurrection to all people!

Christ ascending in both His divinity and humanity raises our own human nature joined to His in our baptisms.

Jesus is your big brother who wants what’s best for you.

Trust Jesus. He has gone to make a place for you, and has come back for you. If it were any different, He would have told you!

Jesus the Good Shepherd calls us to follow him, even through suffering and trials, to the glory found in his death and resurrection. By faith, he leads us to the good food of his Word, the still waters of Baptism, the table where he gives his Himself for the forgiveness of sins.

No matter your level of ability, skill set, mental state, mood, faithful Christians who love you bring you to Jesus Christ

Luke sets up Christian Worship for the rest of time today in the climax of his Gospel. Jesus is present with us today in the Word and the Sacrament in the exact same way he was present with the Apostles and Early Church.

Don’t be like Thomas! Jesus made an exception for him.

Jesus isn’t in the tomb. Jesus is in Galilee, Chicago, Hong Kong, Winona! How so???

What does he mean by “it is finished?”

Jesus is the one and only perfect atoning sacrifice for the sins of all people. He gives us these benefits in a certain way: his Body and his Blood, to eat and to drink.

Why does he come in on a donkey? What about all that other weird stuff?

Why do Christians celebrate the Lord’s Supper, Eucharist, Communion every week? Why doesn’t my church do that?

Why can Christians be so cool and collected, like Jesus, at funerals? Is new life only waiting for us far from now on the Last Day?
