And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. 35 And...

John 3:1-15 King James Version 3 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see th...

Mark 5:22-34 A TOUCHING MOMENT Intro : Mark chapter 5 is brimming with impossible cases. It has been called the Bible home for incurables . There are three cases given in this chapter which are absolutely, humanly speaking, hopeless and impossible. There was the Demonic Man , there was this Diseased Woman , and then there was the Dead Girl . All three of these cases were considered impossible in t...

8 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. 2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, th...

Intro : We are continuing to look at the personal encounters the Lord Jesus had while He walked here on the earth. Most of the personal encounters Jesus had while He was on this earth ended gloriously. Most often, the people who met Jesus were healed, saved and eternally changed. However, not every meeting ended so gloriously! In our text today, we are presented with a man who had a personal encou...

Series Introduction : A one reads the Gospels, it quickly becomes apparent that the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ was a people centered ministry. There are two verses that declare, in detail, our Lord’s mission statement. 1.) Luke 19:10 , “ For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. ” 2.) Mark 10:45 , “ For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, bu...

Romans 16:24-27 THE VOCABULARY OF PRAISE Today we conclude our series from the Book of Romans. It has been a long and enjoyable study and it is no wonder one of my seminary professors Dr. Hayes said that Romans is on of the most important books of the Bible. There is certainly a lot there as you peel back the onion. The most common Greek words for "praise" in the New Testament are αἶνος (ainos), m...

Romans 16:3-5 A HOUSEHOLD OF FAITH Intro : A person cannot read through the Bible without encountering several wonderful families mentioned in its pages. There is that little family in Bethany made up of Lazarus and his sisters Mary and Martha. They were a great blessing to the Lord Jesus. There is Timothy's mother and grandmother, Eunice and Lois and the great impact they made on young Timothy. T...

Romans 16:1-2 A GODLY CHRISTIAN WOMAN Intro : The pages of the Bible are filled with the names of many great women. For instance, there is Mary, the mother of the Lord Jesus. There is Eunice and Lois who taught young Timothy the way of God 's salvation. There is Lydia, the merchant from Thyatira, who was converted under Paul's ministry and was greatly used of the Lord. The book of Acts speaks of a...

Romans 15:30-33 WILL YOU PRAY FOR ME? Intro : Paul was without a doubt one of the greatest, if not the greatest, Christian who has ever lived. He was a man of power who was used of God in some very magnificent ways. He saw the Lord work more miracles and save more souls that you and I would probably see in several lifetimes. You would think a man of his stature would have needed no one or nothing....

Romans 15:18-21 HOW TO RECOGNIZE A MISSIONARY Intro : We have already seen from this Romans Chapter 15 that Paul was a soul winner. He had a heart for the lost and did all he could to reach them for Jesus. In this passage, Paul portrays himself as a missionary. There is a sense in which these words are interchangeable. However, there is another sense in which they are not. In this second sense, a...

A QUESTION OF PRIORITIES On July 11, I found myself in the Emergency Room, once again. However, this time, in addition to the pulmonary embolism I was already working through, I discovered that one of the antibiotics that was being run through a PICC line in one of my larger veins had caused a problem. I was having an allergic reaction, which was putting me on death’s door. Physically, I was a wre...

Romans 16:17-20 HOW TO HANDLE TROUBLEMAKERS IN THE CHURCH Romans 16:17-20 King James Version 17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. 19 For your obed...

Discharging your duties as a Christian and a life that is pleasing to the Lord!

1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 King James Version 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are al...

How to live a Holy Life

Gen. 2:18-25 A MARRIAGE MADE IN PARADISE Genesis 2:18-25 King James Version 18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was...

God's plan of salvation from the Book of Romans

The first part of verse 6 carries our minds back to what Paul said in verse 1-5. There, we are reminded that the Jews had been the recipients of many divine gifts. Verses 4 and 5 contain quite an impressive list of blessings which they had been given. However, just the fact that they had been given these great spiritual gifts and manifestations, did not guarantee them that they would be saved. Tha...

We have arrived, in our study of the book of Romans, to a passage that is ignored and misunderstood by many great commentators and preachers of the Gospel. 9 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, 2 That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. 3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsme...

Have you ever noticed that there is a difference in a person who has trusted Jesus as their personal Savor? Have you noticed that they think different, they act different, they walk and talk different? The reason this is true is that they have been invaded by a Being from another place. At the very instant of salvation, the child of God is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, 1 Cor. 12:13 . When He comes i...

This is one of the easiest passages in the Bible for me to identify with. It tells the absolute truth about the life of the believer! Lets read from Gods word! Romans 7:14-25 King James Version 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16 If then I do that which I would...
