Notes by Northwest
Notes by NW celebrates the music and the musicians with roots in the Pacific NW. Artists range from the Wailers and Ventures from the 1960s, to Ray Charles and Quincy Jones, each of whom lived in Seattle and met with they were 16 and 14; to icons like Kenny Loggins and Heart; Jimi Hendrix, of course; the grunge bands and their offspring; and contemporary artists like Brandi Carlile and The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio.

Notes by NW September 28, 2023 29.09.2023 2:57:08

They are playing the Field Art Center this weekend, and we spoke about their music, their musical influences and other random things. Plus they performed a few live songs in the studio in addition to some recorded songs. The second two hours w...

There are three parts to this program: The first hour is a live interview with Ginny Holladay, a Sequim poet and songwriter who founded Fabulist Fables, which promotes storytelling in all forms. The second hour is a "typical" NXNW show, with a mix of music. The third hour features music from performers at The Thing music festival in Port Townsend this weekend. I got to attend on Frid...

A new three hour version of Notes by NW.
Northwest Passages-Pilgrimage to Eternity by Timothy Egan Part 1 15.07.2023 5:08
From the NY Times review of this book. Egan has become my favorite PNW author. If you’re looking for something to believe in, you could do worse than Timothy Egan’s particular blend of intelligence and empathy. In his ninth book, “A Pilgrimage to Eternity,” this self-described “lapsed but listening” Irish Catholic makes the 1,200-mile journey from Canterbury to Rome along the Via Francigena “on f...
