Listeners finally get the long awaited career spanning box set, but they also get another new best of and a segment on a PBS special done by one of America's most famous directors.

Jimi's family takes control of his back catalog and begins to try to sort out his legacy by putting old pieces back in place, adding some new ones and attempting to correct the flaws of some of the previous posthumous albums, with mixed results.

Jimi's catalog moves labels from Reprise to MCA with promises to build the catalog back better than ever.  But after a promising start with a blues collection and a Woodstock album, the project comes to a crashing halt in some voodoo soup.
